Her oldest was napping within the shade of one of the trees within their land, her youngest was currently draped between her forepaws, recieving her morning bath. No one could ever say that Tomoyo did not adore and care for her daughters in every way possible. They meant everything to her, especially in light of who had given them to her.
It was just a little painful at times, especially since Kilindi's shade of subdued blues and icey purples reminded Tomoyo so much of the girl's father, but it was also what endeared her so to her mother's heart.
She carefully groomed the little one's fur until it was virtually spotless, eyes focused on her job.
((I'll leave it up to you if Kili is awake or not, Meep, that way you can

In the way of young children, Kili for the most part had two modes - on and off. Just now, she was in the latter of the two, drowsing quite happily through her mother's ministrations. The grooming had quite effectively put her to sleep, and she was contentedly asleep beneath the strokes of Tomoyo's tongue.

Tomoyo smiled as she completed her task, now simply taking a moment to watch the sleeping bundle in her paws.
Time had certainly been better to her. By no means had she forgotten her loss, nor did she try, but Tomoyo was very much a free spirit and the loss of her mate came to her just as the loss of her sister, and her best friend. This was the way that life chose to take her, she'd see it through to the end. She had her cubs to care for now, besides.
Still, she never expected for Kiamba's scent to come back to her out of the blue as it did now, riding on a gust of wind as boundless as their spirits had been. It was sharp, right from the beginning, as if scolding her for not paying more attention.
Her sapphire eyes found a spot in the distance and to the East, and focused on it. Was her mind playing tricks on her...? Would she have to defend the children, or was this really happening?
~Kiamba?~

Where once his heart had been fluttering, now it was heavy as a weight. He knew that feeling, but did not know what it was on the air which caused the peculiar reactions. He felt a bit too disoriented to comprehend it all. But that weight- almost painful. If it were possible, he felt his hear burn against his ribs, as if it was struggling to fall out. As if he could cough it out- so simply, and freely. It should have made him more aware but instead left him dumb.
Faintly, the male huffed, feeling the breath rattle his heart. Why was he all of the sudden so crushed? Had it taken all this while for his guilt to finally catch up to him? Tomoyo- his mind severed the word before he thought about it further. That was life, and he'd accepted that. He'd never cared much for attachments anyways. He'd always been a wandering wind.
Kiamba winced, realizing he was getting a headache. "Ah. That would be it then." He remarked to himself with a scowl. He always got off when he had headaches. Surely that was the doing of all of this. It was only then that his eyes flecked off somewhat in the distance, and became aware of neighboring shapes. They blurred somewhat, and he turned his head away before allowing them to focus. So much land left to cover!

Tomoyo didn't want to risk waking Kilindi, she also couldn't just leave them unprotected, but her chest felt like it was rising higher up her throat every second she sat there unmoving.
Finally deciding, she risked the prior, calling out in a clear voice across the distance.
"Whose there? Please, won't you tell me who you are?"

"My name is Tomoyo..." She called across, trying to make out a clear view of the other from this distance by narrowing her eyes. Had Kiamba mentioned any relatives...?

A simple smile, as simple as if they were just exchanging warm hellos for the first time, but behind that smile was a world of relief. She was an avid believer that no matter what life would take it's course, despite your strongest wishes or fears, but she wouldn't pretend like she wasn't happy to be prooven wrong in thinking the worst.
She carefully stepped over Kilindi's sleeping form, taking a few steps closer to the male, and then another, until before she knew it she was sprinting towards him and closing the distance fast. "Kiamba! Where on Earth have you been? I've missed you so much!"
Immediately she began to purr, and strongly at that, butting her head against his neck and burying her face into his fur.

She didn't even need to think to answer, but she did give pause as to not overwhelm him, sensing his unease and respecting it.
"I waited for you, for four days, when you didn't come back I thought..."
And now was the first and only time that she showed hints of negative emotions, for Tomoyo's attitude was, generally when healthy, always a positive one. She never got angry, or depressed, nor did she even ever seem scincere when expressing guilt. Now, however, she looked torn between guilt for admitting what she was about to say, and reliving the disappointment she'd felt back then.
"I thought you were lost to me. Like mother."
Mother, who'd gone out to hunt one day, just like him, with her older siblings. They hadn't come home either and she never did find them. She seemed to prefer pretending not to notice the fur hanging in her girl's father's room.
"But you're back...!"
And now she seemed excited again, and it was clear why she was acting so normal. To her, now that he'd returned, everything COULD go back to normal! They'd be an entire family now, and he could meet the others! Surely he'd be interested in the stories that they had to tell, as everyone had traveled from far off places-- oh! The girls!
Her eyes lit up as she looked up at him-- not having really gotten an answer for her question, nor thinking much on how satisfying or not her's may be for him. Tomoyo turned her black and white striped head towards the sleeping bundle on the ground and headed back towards her before haulting, looking back over her shoulder again. "Well come on then, and say hello to your daughters!"

Almost as if on cue, on the word "daughters" Sawia blinked, stretched and yawned, her fuzzy baby fur prickling like a scared housecat's before righting itself and laying flat (mostly) over her body. She would have rolled right over and gone back to sleep, but something made her look around, blinking in the sun.
There was Kilindi, sleeping a yard or so away. And a few more yards off was her mother, and a strange cat she didn't recognize.
So Sawia, being Sawia and throwing caution to the wind, picked her self up and marched straight after her mother, sitting herself down just behind her and not saying a word.
She was a baby, after all. Like all babies, she'd be noticed soon enough.

Kilindi had tried her very best to stay asleep despite the voices and sudden activity, stubbornly clinging to a very nice dream about flowers and other pretty things. But she could only ignore the waking world for so long, especially when it was being so loud.
With a terrific yawn, flashing her sharp, white baby teeth, she finally came awake, stretching her small body before cracking her eyes open to have a look at the commotion responsible for disturbing her nap.
Well now, who was that? Such a familiar sort of color, too. Blue eyes blinking curiously, she looked down her her forelegs, and then back at the spotted stranger. Huh, weird.
Deciding this merited further investigation, she pushed herself to her feet and went to sit next to her sister, butting her head companionably against Sawia's shoulder.
