They should make a sequal. Even though the original Book by Gaston Leroux doesn't have one, I would still like to see what they can come up with.

How would they do a sequal? I can't see it. There is too much of a finality that is struck at the end of the books. You know, he dies kinda thing? What would the sequal be about?

I wrote a sort-of sequal. He comes back as an actual phantom. Then they think he didn't actually die and they trie to kill him. But then they realise they can't. So Christine has to help him get to the after life or his soul will forever rome the Opera House. Cool, Right?

I could see an ALW sequel, but other than that, no. It's good that you write phanfiction but I really don't think that a book sequel would work. There is still no way in hell to write a sequel as dynamic as the canon story was. Unless ALW!Erik decides to hunt Christine down because he's still obsessed with her and her and Raoul spend forever running from him. Good for angst maybe... but a whole 2-hour-or-so that was actually watchable would be really difficult to get off the ground.
I wouldn't want a sequel just for the sheer crap quality of sequels and the inability of anyone to give something the attention it deserves anymore. The odds of someone churning out anything even half decent just are not high enough for me to think about the possibility of a sequel without cringing.

There is a book sequel for Gaston's Phantom called Phantom of Manhattan. It takes place years after Gaston's Phantom in the 1910's. I've done three phanfics, but two of them are posted already. Here's a link to them: Jade Opal's Fanfics They're under the titles "All I Ask of You", which is a songfic from the PotO movie, and "The Great Sacrifice", which is a one-shot phanfic based on my OFC's POV.

A sequel wouldnt be cool, but a behind the scenes thing might work. You know with the Lion king they had the Lion king 1&2 Then they came out with 1/2. If they made something like that for POTO then it cool. Ofcourse without them making a second one.

Sequels so very often fail miserably.

Quite. But I'm not positive that a sequal is best. It may, if you will, ruin it.

Something from Meg's point of view could work. If they can do it properly, it'd be awesome.

Sequels have sort of been made, in book form. They're okay, the only one I remember at the moment is Phantom of Manhatten.

I thought Phantom of Manhattan was pretty bad, and I think that any attempt to make a sequel would come out looking like a piece of cheap fanfiction: okay for fun, but you can easily do without. I think PotO is just meant to be left alone and without surplus sequels. It's better that way.

No, not with Leroux dead. Unplanned sequels are bad enough with the original author, and miserable with someone else continuing. I read the Phantom in Manhattan: it had a really stupid and disappointing ending.

A sequal would be horrible. Mostly because no one can write Erik like Leroux did. He would be horribly OOC.
And Phantom of Manhatten was...ok. Not great but not the worst thing I've read. The part where Raoul got shot in the groin was so funny! I read the book in 2hours, just sitting on the couch silently. When I read it I laughed until I cried.

I like the ending, and I don't think that a sequal would be good. I don't think that there could be one, as the ending of the first is Christine and The Phantom parting. I don't see what would be accomplished by making a sequal; there isn't much more to tell.
Maybe a prequal that focused on either the Phantom or Christine, since they did have some hints about both of their pasts, but they didn't get really detailed. I think that they both have interesting pasts.
