This thread is for the discussion of the cd Loki 'N Roll. This cd is Kozi's second full length album. The CD will be released on May 17th. The discussion here should be about only the music that appears on this album. This disucussion can range from musical discussion to discussions about the overall feel of the album. So long as the conversation focuses around the music from this album then it is on topic!

We can discuss our speculations on what the album will sound like until it is released. We only have four more days to wait. whee

I'm wondering if "Que Sera Sera" is actually a cover. I'm sure some of you have heard the song I'm thinking that it covers. All I can ever remember of the song is:
"Que Sera Sera
Whatever will be, will be"

Also, I noticed that two of the songs have lyrics written by a "Jiro" instead of Kozi. I wonder if this person is someone from Kozi's past or it is is someone new that Kozi plans on working with more.

I'm glad to see that Kozi has put two instrumental tracks on the album. I've always been quite fond of his instrumental work.

...Only four more days... eek

One thing that I'm thinking about is how the art or picture of what the CD/CD case is gonna look like, seeing that all the other thing he has had on them have gotten my art attention going, which I like.

The songs titles that really catch my eyes are 'The eyes', 'Curious Nuance', 'Que Sera Sera ', and 'Night Creature". Most of them sounded to have different beats to them , what I'm expecting to hear , whenever I get it ninja , is something around techno for 'Que Sera Sera' and 'Curious Nuance' but then 'Curious Nunace' also seems to have kinda a carney/carnivial tune in my head when I think about it. Night Creature seems to go a a darker side and maybe might have a slower tune than others shall have seeing that most of the time when you talk about stuff like that it's always has darkish, silent, music to it. 'The eyes' gets my attention cause A) I have an eyeball fetish and B) It really doesn't give any kinda of detail or feeling into what the beat of it might be, just a simple title unlike the others have.

Now what I think may or may not happen but this is what I get without hearing anything of it yet, just reading. Shinobi shall correct everything of what I thought when she post of how the Cd is when she gets it and I'll see if any of my thoughts match at all xd .

I'd really like to hear, and read lyrics for, "The Eyes". When I think of Kozi, I think of eyes in some way, and I wonder what this song has to do with anything~ ^^;

The song titles make me think of something post-apocalyptic. Especially Curious Nuance and Night Creature. I'm interested in what they're about and what they sound like.

I have just heard this album and I'm in love with it. There are two songs that I don't care for at the moment but I feel that I need to give them more of a chance because they are not what I was expecting. Those of you that ordered this album WILL NOT be disappointed. I'll write something more about it later. Tonight is the first time I've been able to hear it so I'm still to excited to even attempt to describe the cd.

But really, if you bought it you will be please. If you haven't bought it, GO DO SO RIGHT NOW!

So this would be my two cents about what I have heard from the album. Everyone should feel free to chime in and post what they think about the album as well.

NOTE: I have not heard the two instrumental tracks from this album so they are not mentioned below.

"Que Sera Sera" has a similar sound and feel to "Honey Vanity" and "Crimson Star". It is that same sort of playful feel. I'm sure that most everyone will be pleased by this song.

"The Eyes" is just amazingly great. It is a quick paced industrial style song with a vocal melody that will work its way inside your head in no time. The guitar does a really great job of weaving in and out between the vocal melody and the industrial sounds. It retains a feeling of being a Kozi song perfectly. As you can tell, I was impressed with this song.

"Night Creature" has a sort of carnival feel to it that Kozi is known for. It is kind of playful but not at all in the way that "Que Sera Sera" is playful. It has a different sort of playful vibe. There isn't alot of distortion or industrial like noise in this song so it sounds and feels really clear. You can hear everything instrument independently from one another but it still creates a very unified sound.

"Curious Nuance"...some parts of this song make me believe that it could have easily found its way on catharsis. Of the songs I've heard from Kozi's new album, this song is the best representation of the bridge between Kozi's Catharsis work and his new album. I think it mixes enough of what we would expect with an even amount of where Kozi is now musically.

"I'm Not" is a straight up rock song. No carnival noises, no industrial noises, no quirky sounds, no playful melodies...just straight up guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. This isn't something we've heard from Kozi's solo career before now. That being stated, I DO really like this song. However, it doesn't really feel like a Kozi song. I would expect some other band to release this song.

"Babylo" is a song that I am not pleased with at all. To be honest, I wish that it wasn't on the album. The vocals are whiney and off key, it is heavily distorted, and it just doesn't do anything for me. The only interesting thing about the song is the percussion which sounds alot like Swing or Big Band percussion. I think Kozi could have taken that element and created something much better than "Babylo".

"Loki N' Roll" has NOTHING that I enjoy. The entire song is just underwhelming to me. It just doesn't feel anything like the rest of the album. Not only that, but it doesn't even stand well on its own. In my view, this is a weak song. The vocals are HEAVILY distorted and the guitar is uninspiring at best. It is just...basic. I expect WAY more than basic from Kozi so this song is a huge let down in my eyes.

Conclusion: The songs that I adore more than make up for the two songs that I do not enjoy. I'm glad that I bought this album and overall I am quite pleased with it.

"The Eyes" is actually my favorite song from the new album. I'm dieing to get a lyric translation for it so that I can enjoy it to the fullest.

The vocal melodies are just...spot on. I can't imagine them being any better for the song. Infact, everything about that song seems so right. It is as if nothing could have been done to that song to make it any greater than it is.

Somebody should have Loki n' Roll lyrics up soon. It's only new, so it could take a while to get them translated.
If someone gave me the kanji or romaji, I could translate it. But probably just one or two songs.

On a more related note, I now have the album~ I'll definately come back later to say something more indepth, but as of right now, "The Eyes" is my favourite.

I finally got my copy today! I'll write more about it after finals, when I get home. But, like everyone else, my favorite song is 'The Eyes'.

A lot of people here seem to like "the Eyes" best. ^^; Of course, I can see why. It is very delicious music.

As a side note, does anybody have kanji text/romaji, or even translations yet?
