They can be very delicate. They'll sit there and diss themselves so completly and voilently before anyone else has a chance to say anything, good or bad.

I like to pick out the things I like about what I'm drawing before grindeing my bad feelings all over it..

I know that for most it's what they do to see mistake and better themselves. But a lot take it much too far and say things about thier own peice that makes event he people who didn't care for the art cringe..

They'll do it so much that they'll smack themselves around mentally until they're almost sick of their art and it drives a lot of people to lose that firey passion to pick up a pencil or a tablet pen when their hand itches.

The talent to make pictures with your hands is ageless.. To project images in ones head into something that others and see.. It's in so many wonderful and creative people.

Completely tearing yourself up or another person over art doesn't make anything better at all.

Pointing out all the things you don't like about your art brings attention to it until that the only thing anyone else can see.

I'm a humble artist at heart and mine breaks when I see a wonderful artist or an artist with so much creativity frown on their own art so hard that they don't enjoy it. Or sit there and speak horrible things about their art with a smile so no one else will say it..

Art should not feel like a chore.

Theres a line between fixing your work and improving and just being lazy and accepting whatever is thrown together. The highest quality work is done by people who are never satisfied. I interviewed an illustrator that is considered one of the best in the world and he said he was just learning to paint- after 20 yrs experience!

When we create something we can find flaws in it. We learn from mistakes so the next time we do our thing we do it even better. It's called growth. We do compliment ourselves but some people do it way too much, it's kinda sad.

You know, I have a tendency to be that way about my own work and I am really working on changing that. It's very hard to accept complements sometimes because I'm such a perfectionist and never satisfied. I'm gradually getting to the point where I'm appreciating my work more, but still keep reaching to improve. However, the times I'm most critical, never finding any little element in my art that I like, are the times where I do feel like throwing in the towel and never doing art again.

I think acknowledging errors and areas you can improve on is important. I never want to be complacent and never see any way I can stretch myself because I'll never grow as an artist and I've set a few pretty ambitious goals for the next 3 years in where I want to take my stuff. However, being overly critical as I tend to be, has hurt my enjoyment and sends me into major art block and disappointment. The times where I can acknowledge my errors, yet still love the pieces I create, are the times I've found myself growing the most in my skill.

I think, too, when artists are so critical of their stuff, it makes people who may be at a lesser skill level step back and think, "Well if they think their work is crap, what does that make mine?" I know I've thought that when I've seen people who really blow me away be so down on their beautiful work.

So I guess I feel there needs to be a balance. A love for what you create, but not a blindness to what you can improve on. Unfortunately, many people fall into one or the other extreme.

Gee golly gosh. I have saved all my best work since I was eleven and I look back on it and man was I too cocky about my work. that and I've been numbed with good compliments from people. I kinda have a hard time(only sometimes) taking critisizms. Usually only to people who don't know what they're talking about
