in all the legends of cybertron and backlore of the children of Primus and Unicron this one is the most puzzeling . i have heard rumors that megatron and Starscream were related which is a reason why he never Tore out SS's optics .... personally i dont believe it but what do u guys think on this ?.
in the movie and all through G1 and the cartoons StarScream was given the most leyway by Megatron , when even soundwave and his hunters failed they were scolded but never as lightly as Starscream .
or am i jus the only fan who thinks so ?

In the cartoon continuity they weren't related, nor (I believe) in the Marvel comics. However, in the Dreamwave continuity there may have been some relation between them; unfortunately, we will never find out.

Megatron never bothered to kill Starscream because, in theory, that would take more effort than putting up with Starscream's bullshit.
Additionally, (although there's not much to support this) it could be that despite his attempts to overthrow Megs, Starscream was a very good field commander or intelligence officer of some kind (He 'was' a sicentist along with Skyfire in the cartoon continuity, after all.)

Perhaps it has something to do with his merit on the field. Despite the inane attempts at a coup, Starscream is the only con that regularly (if ever) was allowed to wield Megs in gun mode. Not even Soundwave got that honour. Also, with him constantly and publicly opposing Megs, our favourite con would always know where his greatest foe lies within the ranks. There is something to be said for that- because as much as he wanted Megs to be deposed, Starscream would make sure he was the only one to do it. pirate

From what I remember, Skywarp held Megs far more often than Starscream did (mostly due to the fact that Skywarp is more or less a bumbling idiot who wouldn't dare betray Megs.) And while I can't find a pic, I distinctly remember Soundwave holding Megs in gun mode at least once.

Hmmm . . . . I do not recall anybody- ever -wielding Megs except Starscream. Now, I don't honestly know squat about the comic continuity, but everything I have ever read/heard has only Screamer holding Megs.

I have a theory on the relationship between the fictional characters of Megatron and Starscream of the Transformers.
“You are skilled, powerful and ruthless. You are the living embodiment of the Decepticon ideal and are merely a step away from completely embracing it. It is YOU who refuses to see that, Starscream, NOT me.”
- Megatron to Starscream, All Hail Megatron Vol.1
In Megatron's optics Starscream is the physical manifestation of the Decepticon Ideology and, as Leader of the Decepticons, Megatron feels it is his duty and right to control and thus possess such a trophy. The error in this logic is of course that no true Decepticon would ever allow himself to be owned by anyone or thing. And Starscream, being a true Decepticon, of course refuses to yield unless forced into submission and even then only temporarily.
The harder Megatron tries to possess Starscream the more the Air Commander will fight the Warlord's hold over him. And the more Starscream fights him the more desperately determined Megatron becomes to keep Starscream.
Eventually this will (and has) destroy them both and everyone or thing with the misfortune of being near them when it does.
And somehow Optimus Prime gets throne into the mix for one hell of a Triangle of Eternal Destiny. Sucks to them!
...Besides we all know Megs and Star' are totally gay for each other! xd

Megatron saw through his plans almost every time, so didn't feel he was a big enough threat to rid himself of. Also, Starscream's past as a scientist may have granted him a bit of amnesty in terms of disintegration. Though Megatron obviously couldn't look past being kicked ouf of an airlock, as he turned Starscream into an ashtray after being reformatted into Galvatron. (Also since Galvatron apparently has a much lower tolerance level than Megatron.)

And because I think its FUNNY! I can't help but think of the Transformers as a sort of sexless beings so the idea that they could be "gay" is lol worthy! xd
And I'm not disputing the idea that Starscream was just to good at what he did for Megatron to just knock him off. In fact I agree that was very much the reason for it. His talent combined with his personality made him more Decepticon than anyone else in the army except for Megatron himself. I feel thats why Megatron is more prone to put up with Starscream's slag than he is with the other Decepticons who would have been scrapped, rather painfully, several times over if they ever pulled some of the stunts that Star' has.
So...Yes, I agree!
