What whould Desu mean? is it am, are or what?

Japanese does not have that sort of verb conjugation.
I guess *desu* could most easily be described as present-future simple tense of "be." Not to be confused with "exist" which is a different verb (aru, iru)

its sort of am/are/is. Thats what it would be in English. But it is not directaly translatable.
