One question: how do you form the other versions of "grande"? With all the other adjectives you gave it's pretty obvious since they all end with "o"...

It's an adjective. So you keep it the same in both fem. and masc. singular. And just and an "s" after fem. and masc. plural. 3nodding

DavidGemmel -> spanishnerd is right, you can use grande for both masculino and feminino. Most of the rules I post have exceptions.

Spanishnerd -> Very good! Your only mistake was writing diretor with "c" (director).

I'm preparing lesson 2 right now.

oops! Sorry! lol I guess I was on the Spanish mode there and I wasn't paying attention. By the way, pronounciation and info on how accents change sounds would be useful. 3nodding

I know, but I decided to go about that later. It's pretty complicated for people who speak English, I guess. Since it's a virtual class and no one will hear my speaking, I decided to work it using songs, but I think it's best to wait until the "students" have more vocabulary and notions of grammar, so they can understand the song as well as pay attention to pronouncing.

But it won't take long. 3nodding

This grammar is very helpful for me. I am going to Brazil in just two weeks and am very nervous. I have basic phrases down, but how to have a Portuguese accent and know how to pronounce is very hard. Portuguese itself is hard to pronouce - pohr-too-gahees- sweatdrop

Dreadful

Here we go, sorry it took a while. sweatdrop I've always had issues with homework.

Toughest part was deciding which words to use...
01 - Uns alunos novos (Some new students)
02 - O cadeira feio (The ugly chair)
03 - Os tio estranho (The strange uncle)
04 - As meninas magras (The thin girls)
05 - Um amigo velho (An old (male) friend)
06 - A vendedora nova (The new saleswoman)
07 - Umas meninas pequenas (Some small girls)
08 - O diretor gordo (The fat (male) manager)
09 - Uns amigos novos (Some new friends)
10 - O martelo amarelo (The yellow hammer)
11 - Um vendedor estranho (The mask guy in Zelda:OoT A strange salesman)
12 - A professora magra (The thin (female) teacher)
13 - Uns cadeiras pequenos (Some small chairs)
14 - A tia gorda (The fat aunt?)
15 - O menino magro (The thin boy)
16 - Umas alunas novas (Some new students again, but this time they're female)
17 - A menina bonita (The beautiful girl)
18 - Uma amiga estranha (The strange (female) friend)
19 - Um gato feio amarelo (An ugly yellow cat - yeah, I got a little ambitious here. From what I remember of Spanish, I may need 'and' in there.)
20 - Uma gata grande (A big (female) cat)

Now I'll start on the second lesson (trying not to peek at the answers ninja )

Wow, you did good, and you're right about translating "uns" and "umas" as "some".

Some mistakes though:
2 - "O cadeira feio". Cadeira is a feminino word, so the correct sentence would be "A cadeira feia".
Same thing for
13 - The correct sentence would be "Umas cadeiras pequenas".
3 - You used the artigo in plural and the rest of the sentence in singular. If you wanted to say "The strange uncle", it should be "O tio estranho".
14 - That's right, "A tia gorda" = "The fat aunt".

You're 19th sentence is correct, but you can use "and" (in portuguese, "e") as well. You could say "Um gato feio e amarelo", but your sentence is also correct, although the meaning changes a bit. You could say, for example: "Which do you prefer, um gato feio amarelo ou um gato feio azul?". But if you wanted to say just "I have an ugly yellow cat", you should say "Eu tenho um gato feio e amarelo".

Don 't worry about that now, though. ^^

I'll be checking for your second lesson exercises. pirate
