As some of you may have noticed, my current pad is really starting to suck, so, I decided I'd try to get a metal pad within three weeks.
Here's what I need to know:
Where can I find one? Which brands are most reliable? Can I get one without ordering online?
Keep the following in mind:
I play on a PS2, DDRMAX and DDRMAX2. I want to keep the price between $170 and $200. I want something with a warranty of at least 30 days, just in case.

http://www.cobaltflux.com/By far the best pad on the market. It's a little over your price range, but you get more than what you pay for. I wouldn't recommend looking for a pad offline. It's easier, and you don't get raped by shipping, but most stores don't carry metal pads, and those that do only carry third-party pads that are usually ridiculously overpriced.

Yeah. If you want a metal pad, -only- go for CobaltFlux. If you're more concerned about price, an RO Ignition works pretty well and is within your price range, but made of foam. *got her Ignition at Best Buy for $100 yay* surprised

Thanks for trying to help, but you've told me a bunch of stuff I already know. sweatdrop
I can buy a Cobalt Flux in a couple years when I'm old enough to get a summer job that actually has decent pay (right now I'm only 15). -What I need is something that doesn't slip, will work for at least 400 days, and costs LESS THAN $200. -I also need something that doesn't involve shipping.
What the hell, I'll just check the local stores this weekend, see if any of them have anything worth s**t.

What's so bad about them? They require a bit of adjusting, yeah, but I had no problems at all. D: The TX-### pads are also pretty good, but they're a little spendy if you're just wanting something to get you by for a little while.

I found some really cheap ones on eBay that seemed to be sold by reliable sellers (one had 98.6% positive, other had 99.8% positive).
The majority seemed to be made by "Ninja". -I found them for as low as $60 per pad, and I'd be willing to wait a couple weeks for a couple fully functional pads for $60 each. -Does anyone know anything about the brand?

Pagestretching link edittedThere's the search page I got. -"Gamezforless" has a huge positive feedback rating, otherwise I wouldn't even be considering it. I figure that probability is on my side if I get two from them; chances are, both will work, and at least one of them will almost definately work. -The Innex 2 pad package is what I've been looking at, and it seems that they're sold directly from the factory through eBay, explaining the high shipping costs and low item costs.

Hm.. It doesn't sound half bad at all. The price is pretty damn good too. But in my experience, if it's cheap, there's a good reason why. I'd give it a shot. It wouldn't be a huge loss if it ended up being a piece of crap, I suppose.

Eh..it's really not necessary. This isn't a very frequent subject, so there's no need for a sticky to minimize on repeat threads.

Is there really a need for a metal pad? Don't the plastic mats work just as well? I mean, when I go to the arcade, there most definetely is a difference, but I don't think it's a difference in QUALITY persay. I guess I'm trying to say I like both o.o
