Well, I didn't see that plot coming...! eek question

And something tells me that that control method's going to be the scourge of parents everywhere.

Not to mention the people actually playing the game... gonk

Well alright, we should probably wait to pass judgment on the control scheme. Who knows, it might actually be a good control set-up.

And I wonder why they decided to take their inspiration from Arabian Nights... sounds really interesting. *goes a-Wikipedia-ing*

Sheer scope, I'm assuming. There's a lot of it.

Although, looking at the new gameplay footage from StH, there seems to be a heavy Eastern feel to it. It's Far East rather than Middle East (which Arabian Nights is, although we do have this "Iblis" thingie in with the Japanese stuff for StH...), but whoever's coming up with the plots these days seems to be leaning heavily towards civilisations with a tradition of that sort of mythology.

I hope they do keep on pulling inspiration from mythology as apposed to just relying on techno-fantasy; I think it's more compelling that way.

Although it was kind of silly what they did with the Babylon Garden in Sonic Riders, if you think about it. xd

What a strange plot...

Where is my God now? gonk

Well, can't say anyone could've expected THIS from Sonic. XP
At least we don't have the blue blur dressed as a belly dancer and telling stories to a prince so that he isn't executed.........uhm, right???...

Anywho, I'm pretty anxious to see the controls in action. Sounds like it'll be quite a workout, at the very least.
And, it's nice to see that Sonic'll be showing love to all the next-gen systems.

What? The Yoshi's Story plot sneaks it's way back into gaming?

That aside, this sounds promising enough.

Cease and desist with that imagery NOW - you're giving me AoStH flashbacks! blaugh

I'll tell you when I've actually played/read up on it. smile

Did you notice that they used Latin American stuff in Sonic Adventure? I think they're using the same people from SA here now.

According to the BBC over here, it seems that the PS3 has the same sort of "audience participation" control pad, too. Interesting...

And it seems that SWF has gameplay footage:

Grab that whilst it lasts. I'll upload a copy to my own webspace sometime when it's not 1am.

The PS3's one is tilt control only, so you can move it to do up, down, left and right, the direction you're holding it. The Wii is a fully manipulative, if you swing it, it'll imitate the entire motion in game.

Sort of like the Sega Bass fishing rod that the geeks among us used for Big's fishing game *hugs his*

As for Wild Fire. I'm suprised that it's an action game. I was expecting Sonic Shuffle style stuff with the Wiimote.

As I'm getting a Wii regardless, thanks to Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess, I may check it out if I'm feeling dirty.

The promise of no extra hedgehogs makes me feel slightly better about this.

It might be worth my while to get one, then, despite the console's name. The big selling point for me is still the backwards-compatibility.

Out of interest, since when would this be the first solo outing since 1991? Sonic CD seemed pretty solo to me. Amy wasn't playable, after all. Same goes for 3D Blast...

I assume this means Sonic alone, no other Sonic Universe characters.

It'd be false advertising to say "Sonic's first solo adventure" when he's the only playable character among 21 or so other familiar faces.

Afterall, Sonic and Tails were teamed up in Rush, yet Tails was not playable at any point.

There's a teaser until it's covered completely in E3. Lovin' it, but Sonic's gotta lay off those chilli-dogs. wink

Interesting teaser. I liked Sonic's line: "Finally! Something interesting!" xd

Well, apparently there is a new gameplay video up on IGN or Gamespot something, but since they use crappy-as-hell streaming videos and I'd have to be a member to download it, I'm just going to say what I've been told by those who have seen the video. And that is, that Sonic Wild Fire is basically "on rails".

I think that it's a great idea. One of the biggest problems with the 3D Sonic games is that at top speeds, Sonic just isn't controllable with any sort of precision. But this eliminates that; it gives you the 2D idea of just going forward, but you can still get to different areas even though it's not a free-roaming game (not that any Sonic game was free-roaming, but you had 360 degrees of movement in the 3D games) so it isn't necessarily one path, since you get forward and left-to-right movement, can turn around, and you can jump as usual. Y'know, simple stuff. I was initially worried that this game was going to be free-roaming, actually, because there's no way the controls would work with it, but I think this will be a great way to do the Sonic games in 3D.

People are comparing it to things like Panzer Dragoon Orta or Starfox. Oh yeah, here's the IGN article. They seem really pleased too.
