The squirrel was crutching her way back to her duplex, making sure to keep her eyes open in case of any angry killing islanders came bounding out of the jungle.

That's what Moreau wanted them to think would happen if they didn't find out who did it right?

Whatever.

He had yet to meet anyone with concrete evidence that Aubrey had even been attacked, much less mortally wounded. Hell, she could even be safe in the labs while this entire thing was a crock of s**t. Though Delia seemed to think it true...

Awen Zyn
Awen had been coming from the lake back towards the duplexes when she noticed the squirrle. She attempted to get a hold of Avery but when she went to his duplex he wasn't in or wasn't answering. Briefly she had gone back to her duplex, but after hearing some rather loud and...not so pleasent, singing from the frenchman in the shower Awen decided a nice swim would be a better idea while she waited for Avery to get back to his duplex, or start answering the door.

One of her first thoughts, one she couldn't help, was that Sabin had come to her duplex even though Antony had offered first. The others consisted of shock, at seeing Antony at a later stage than Awen had seen, and also the crutches. She frowned a little bit, in concern, and trotted forward to meet her. All of that smug pride leaked out of her as she wondered what had happened. "Hey Antony! Are you okay?"

Antoinette Devereux
Antony sighed deeply when she heard a familiar voice, the redundant question making the squirrel woman want to chuck one of the crutches at the manta girl. "I'd like to think that I am," she replied instead, though her tone was a little curt.

Oblivious to the teen's smug attitude or her 'relationship' with Sabin, she paused, leaning on her crutches to wait for Awen to catch up to her. "Looking for clues like the rest of the island?" Maybe she was a bit cranky, and being on her feet (and crutches) for most of the day didn't really help. Her leg was sore and the tylenol was wearing off.

Awen Zyn
She frowned at the stark tone from Antony. Not exactly surprised, but she was just trying to be friendly. She shook her head slowly. "Actually I just went for a swim. I'm...trying to stay out of the whole thing." She didn't want to draw too much attention to herself these days.

"What happened to your leg?" She asked, again simply trying to be nice. "And I take it you don't much care for the mystery either?"

Antoinette Devereux
"Broke it," she replied, reaching up to run a hand through her hair to tussle it a bit, "Well I know I didn't do it... Otherwise I'd be pink with blood wouldn't I? If you've ever tried to wash blood out of whites that is..."

Trailing off, the tattooed woman replaced her hand on the crutch once more, eyeing Awen strangely. She did look a bit nervous. "What have you been up to then?"

Awen Zyn
"Staying in my duplex mostly..." She shrugged a little bit. "I went for a walk during the storm, but after that annoucement from Moreau, I don't really think being out and about is too good of an idea. I don't know, just best to keep your head down at times like this, ya know? Don't know when your neighbor might start pointing at you and crying 'royalist!'"

She wondered why the squirrle was looking at her like that. She didn't think that...? Naw.

Antoinette Devereux
"Yeah well, I'm quite confident no one is going to suspect me... I'm on crutches for ******** sake!" She balanced on one leg as she lifted both metal objects up from her side almost like an airplane of sorts before setting them back down again. "But if you like hiding..."

Shrugging somewhat, she thought of something that she should probably tell Awen, "Oh, one of the staff is out of the labs. Just a neighborly warning."

Awen Zyn
"Oh, I know." She shrugged a little bit like it wasn't a big deal, which beside the possible attack on his person it wasn't. "But what do you mean "but if you like hiding..."?"

Antoinette Devereux
"Oh you do?" Antony seemed intrigued by this, and a slow grin grew on her lips as she absently ignored her second question. "So you're his 'other business' that he had to take care of..." Oh how interesting.

Awen Zyn
She raised an eyebrow. "Well... he needs a place to stay, he couldn't just camp out in the entertainment room or cafe with the possible staff-killer out there right?" She noted how the second question was completely ignored.

Antoinette Devereux
"Mhmm," she murmured, smile still on her lips and growing gradually. "And what'd he tell you about me?" Not that she cared, but this was amusing her, especially since Awen probably still thought of her as a whore.

Awen Zyn
"Nothing..." Awen was now looking at the squirrle with an odd look on her face. While this wasn't entirely true, it wasn't entirely nessicary to answer either. He didn't say anything expressly to Awen about Antony, simply that it may be inappropriate to be at her apartment with lab techs watching. Nothing very untrue, or something that wasn't obvious anyway. Even if nothing did happen, the other staff wouldn't let that stop them from harassing him. And he got too much of that from Aubrey and Moreau. "Just said he'd rather stay with someone he knows he could trust." She shrugged slightly. "I suppose that would be me."

Antoinette Devereux
"Well we had just met," Antony said plainly, grin surprisingly widening. Being a girl herself, the squirrel women knew an underhand jab when she heard one, and simply shrugged, "It's good to know you're a girl just like me. I was beginning to worry a bit since I don't think you've been truthful with me. Was that whole... 'Let's be friends' talk at the Beach Bar entirely bullshit?" An eyebrow cocked and she tilted her head to the side a bit.

Awen Zyn
She blinked. Awen's mind just couldn't wrap around what she was trying to say. She hadn't meant it as an underhanded jab at all, simply restating what Sabin had told her. "What are you talking about? That wasn't bullshit. Sure I've not been entirely happy joyful with you over the passed while, but I was just still recovering from what was to be my first major hurt, relationship wise. I want to get along with you Antony, but every time I see you you end up seeming so harsh and curt with me. I am trying to be friends." Genuine confusion was all that played on her features. "It's true that you and Sabin had just met, you're right. Me and Sabin have a little bit more history, which is a good reason for him to come to my duplex before accepting your offer. Seriously there is nothing personal about it."

Antoinette Devereux
"History?" She asked, waving away all the 'I want to get along with you' crap for the time being. This was more important of a question. "How much 'history' can you have with someone on the other side of the fence? Unless he gets to stick you with more than just serums..."

Chuckling to herself, Antony smiled and returned to the other subject at hand. "From what I can remember, and have heard, you're still quite judgemental of me... People can have sex and not be in a relationship or 'in love' you know." Not everyone was as uptight as she was, especially Antony.

Awen Zyn
Awen sighed and shook her head. "And not everyone has to have sex with the people she has history with." She replied irritably. "I haven't said a damn thing about you in ages either, and I had every right to be angry with you, because sorry but not everyone is as free as you are. We have different values, I'm trying to leave it at that. Why do you have to throw old s**t into my face like this?"

Again the manta let out a exasperated breath and held up her hand. "You know what, never mind. I don't want to hear it. I try to be civil, I try to care. Ask if you're okay because of your leg, but obviously you just want things to stay the way they were months ago. Whatever. Goodbye Antony. Hope your leg gets better."

She wanted to, but didn't, just push past Antony. As steamed as she was she didn't actually want to hurt the other girl anymore, physically. She just started walking in the opposite direction gritting her teeth. What was that woman's problem!?

Antoinette Devereux
Antony wasn't hurt, but she simply rolled her eyes. "I find it funny, that because I don't have a p***s you entirely blame me for Jamal cheating on -you-. I think you can't dislike him, so I get the full brunt of it. Quit hanging onto 'old s**t,' I mean... Old anger." She seethed inwardly, but was feeling a bit of relief from the little spat. Maybe she had picked it intentionally?

"Small talk is -not- caring, by the way... You bloody people pleaser." The squirrel woman sneered, red eyes flashing dangerously. "You didn't -try- to really get to know me, so don't try to make you feel good about being an a**. Friendships take more than just nice words and small talk."

When she left, she gave her retreating form the finger before crutching off to her duplex. Stupid teenagers.

Awen Zyn
Awen had stopped listening the moment she walked passed the squirrle lady. She honestly didn't care anymore. She tried to leave it behind, but Antony wanted to drag it back up. That's fine. That was her own problem, not Awen's. She just couldn't care anymore. While the manta knew friendships were more than small talk and nice words she also knew that it was one of the only ways to start a friendship, the first steps before really getting to know someone. It didn't matter to Awen if Antony could see that or not.

Bed rest did not suit well with Thom. After a day of attempting to follow Sabin's instructions, he had given in and fled his duplex for the much more interesting outdoors. Though, interesting my have been an understatement...

He had spent a good few hours simply wandering the jungle just beyond the village, admiring the unusual plantlife and enjoying the near-tropical atmosphere. A high class establishment indeed if they went to such efforts to allow their guests a chance to relax--and in such peace! Thom hadn't seen a single tourist--nor anyone else--all day long and was positively thrilled. Perhaps he could make the best of his short stay after all... Relax away from the crowds, heal up a bit, and come back with a will during the game.

As evening began to approach, he retreated back towards his duplex, remaining indoors just long enough to produce, oddly enough, a yo-yo from his belongings before slipping onto the front porch to amuse himself with said toy. Just because he couldn't play football yet, didn't mean he couldn't enjoy himself.

Antony had long given up on trying to hide her changes, and was back to wearing her short tank tops and a pair of low slung board shorts. With the cast, pants were more of a hassle than a comfort.

Currently, she was crutching her way back to her own duplex from dinner at the cafeteria when she caught scent of someone she didn't recognize in the wind. She stiffened and went perfectly still, though her tails fidgeted nervously as she breathed in the strange scent.

Thankfully for her albino eyes, the sun wasn't in her eyes when she looked over at the source of the smell. He looked new, human, and quite content. And that usually meant he was oblivious to what was going around here, or he was rather demented. Either way, he seemed harmless, and she relaxed, watching his yo-yo tricks absently before sighing and crutching towards him.

Better her than someone like Billy right?

The unmistakable sounds of someone approaching provoked a grimace, and Thom pointedly ignored the stranger until he had successfully run through another few yo-yo tricks. However, when Antony didn't seem to be leaving, he spared her a glance, preparing a dry comment in the hopes of scaring the stranger away.

However, it never came. He opened his mouth to speak, but found himself completely lost for words, having forgotten whatever it was he had planned at the sight of the squirrel woman. This...she was much farther along than Nita with...whatever it was that was happening. But nothing was happening, he reminded himself, though the sight was nonetheless rather disturbing.

Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, he managed a weak grin, cocking his head up at the woman. The yo-yo had long since fallen to the ground, hanging limply on it's string form his unmoving hand. "...So, Aaron send you, then?"
PostPosted: Mon May 22, 2006 9:23 pm

The squirrel woman again went stiff, only this time it was out of fear of the known.

Aaron.

Certainly he couldn't be here?

She tried to cover her panicked expression by coughing, tails moving sharply behind her as she composed herself once more. He had an accent. Aaron was from the states, and this guy obviously was not from around there. Besides, Aaron was a common name. Right?

"There aren't any Aaron's on the island," Antony responded while crutching over to where he was situated. It was obvious that her though her broken leg could be faked, the fur and the tails were very much real and attached.

Ahh, she had recognized the name. Lovely, Aaron had slipped up and picked a bad actress. Nita had been nearly convincing towards the end there, but with this woman's reaction, Thom no longer doubted that he was in the middle of his friend's prank. With a few acceptions, naturally. The crash had been real enough.. But Aaron wanted to put everyone at ease by pulling a joke. It made perfect sense.

"Island?" He raised a brow, absently tugging up the yo-yo and beginning to wrap it back up. "We aren't on an island."
PostPosted: Mon May 22, 2006 9:37 pm

With his comment Antony actually burst out laughing, nearly loosing her balance as well, but her tails kept her upright. "And I'm an actress in a movie," she choked out between chuckles. Despite her amusement, Antony was starting to get rather irritated at these new people who were in denial.

Maybe she should carry around the damned picutre of her before she changed.

"Once you're injected, there's no going back," she stated simply, shrugging slightly before moving to turn and head back to her duplex, tails in clear view. "I'm really not in the mood to coddle and play Freak Show Tour Guide tonight... Maybe tomorrow."

A dismissive wave was given to him as she started to crutch back towards her duplex.

He frowned, losing interest in his yo-yo at present in favor of glaring at the squirrel woman. What on earth was she talking about? Injection? Tour guide? Tails...? He stared after her, utterly bewildered, and not even at her rear, for the multiple tails obstructed his view. Moving tails. Twitch, swaying, mocking him. Those couldn't possibly be fake. But...

"Now, wait one moment," he snapped, pocketing the yo-yo and starting after her. "What in God's name're you talkin' about? I 'aven't been injected." Not that he knew of, at any rate...
PostPosted: Mon May 22, 2006 9:52 pm

"I'm sure you have," she replied simply, not even bothering to look back at him. He may be cute, but the squirrel woman wasn't exactly interested in 'breaking in' a new islander, sexually or otherwise. "Regardless of what you think lad, you're stuck here, and you won't stay human."

Along with her tails, the squirrel woman's leg structure only supported her statement. Either way, she wasn't a ******** babysitter.

"I 'aven't," he snapped, stubbornly following along just behind her. Had he? Duvert had said he was out for a couple of days, perhaps they administered this injection during that time? ...But why did it matter? The situation was utterly ridiculous. Even if the woman's tails and legs argued for the possibility.

Quickening his pace, he stepped around before her, standing squarely in her path. "Tell me what's goin' on."
PostPosted: Mon May 22, 2006 10:08 pm

"Why should I have to play teacher when you're not going to believe me anyways?" Antony retorted, dutifully ignoring the pleasant smell of the attractive man in front of her. Damn her senses to hell. This was -not- the time.

Regardless of how close or tall he was, she stood her ground and looked him square in the eyes. Let him be freaked out by her changed eyes. "You act like it's natural for people to look like this." She made a sharp gesture to herself accompanied by an irritated sneer.

At least she'd get paid if this were a circus.

Her eyes served their intended purpose, and a faint shiver ran down his spine, but he quickly brushed it off. Contact lenses. Some sort of bizarre contacts. That was all. Though try as he might, he still couldn't logically justify the malformed legs and multiple tails. Nor, at that, the woman's face itself, which before he'd thought to be a mask, but a closer inspection proved that theory impossible.

He held up both hands as if to ward away, though the gesture seemed more mental than physical, for he remained where he stood. "I never I said I wouldn't b'lieve you." Which did not necessarily mean he would, mind. "I've only been here... Three days, I've been told, but I've only been awake since mid-yesterday. Dr. Duvert claimed this was some sort of hospital...?"
PostPosted: Mon May 22, 2006 10:27 pm

"It's only a hospital if you get hurt," she explained curtly, scowling at his gesture, absently grinding her teeth when he didn't move out of her way. At the mention of Dr. Duvert's name, Antony only grinned. The expression wouldn't be too comforting either. "I guarentee you've been injected if you were under Dr. Duvert's care."

It seemed this one would only shake his denial when he changed for the first time.

Thom's head reeled, a dull, pounding headache beginning at the back of his skull. Not a hospital? Of course it was a hospital. What else would he be doing here? After the wreck--he had a game on Friday! She was mad. Mad as Nita, and suffering from the same disease. Yes. A special center. But why was he here? He was perfectly fine. Only a mild concussion...

"Injection. What injection?" he questioned, interrupting his own thoughts. "Why's it important?"
