Go with the Smartpart Ion. It's only $199.99 and it's overall better than the Kingman Spyder's...The stock Ion is good for Woodball and Speedball, It's a good marker you can build your paintball skills with and It's cheap, Small profile body, Light weight (2.9 pounds), Fast (17BPS), and shoots pretty quiet sense it's a low pressure marker......Besides as you get better as a player you can upgrade into a even better marker...You should really look into it. 3nodding
But this is only my opinion!

well on my own opinion i'm really sick of seeing ions everywere for me i choose the spyder electra acs people might think is a low-end electronic marker but i think is quite the opposite w/ its rocking trigger and acs bolt you can get faster shooting then the ion and for the ion eyes ohh well you still got your acs bolt i shoot 20bps w/ mine and almost no chops, just make sure you get a fast hopper like a eggy (evolution 2), halo b or maybe the empire and its just fine. i know its a bit pricey but its your moneys worth.

if u wana go with spyder, totally get the awesome oldschool EM-1 it shoots fast but has no eye, or get an AMG LCD , cause if decide u want a new grip frame u can put a timmy frame on it, but to get either of these u will have to surf ebay
or if u dont wanna be oldschool i would go with either an ion or the '06 spyder electra cause it has eyes and teh rocking trigger but seriously try for the EM-1 or teh AMG LCD

The Pilot will out perform the MR1. Only get the MR1 if you are dead set on having a milsim marker and don't like 98customs.
Pilots can be purchased refurbished for 80 dollars over at actionvillage/ ebay.
How much are you going to spend on either gun? You can get a refurbished Imagine for 60 dollars that can outperform both the TLX and Orion.
but to answerer your question, the TL-X only because they are far more reliable and upgradeable. Kid I know owned a VL gun always had problems with it. He barely ever used it.

incredibleherk blackthorn17 Whats better a Spyder TL-X or a VL ORION niether, spyder has to be one of the worst marker brands ever, and VL just should never have even attempted to start manufactring guns. Ion The Ion might be alittle too much. A Spyder is a good marker for a starting player into the world of Paintball. Spyders are easy to maintain when properally taken care of by the owners and will get the job done, which is to shoot paintballs. I would suggest an Ion when a player is more experienced into Paintball and are wanting to step up from noob status. Ions are a step ahead of Spyders when it comes to maintaining them due to the fact that they are electro-pnuematic markers, which putting an Ion into the hands of person who doesn't know much about the sport can have problems. I'm a person who believes in if you own a marker you need to know how to properally maintain and fix it, instead of running to shops and fields in order to have your things fixed. Also with the purchase of an Ion it is wise to also purchase a good electronic loader and a compressed air system. A new player to the sport might not be willing to dump that much money into the sport yet. A Spyder, CO2 tank, and gravity feed hopper or lower-end electronic hopper are good in my opinion when it comes to a new player.
