After chatting with Lucas Usagi about the song and discussing the lyrics I have decided to open this new topic so others could voice their opinions on how the song could be interpreted. My opinion stands with them stating that the government is extremely hypocritical.

Yea, thats kind of what I was saying but not totally pointing the finger at the government. Instead, it's at those who have pursecuted others who have done these "things" and who have made up these ******** up "laws". Who are they to wave their finger and say that those who choose to do so are "bad/evil/criminals"? In this society and culture that is like a "soapbox house of cards and glass" they really shouldn't be "tossin their stones around" because they themselves are big drug users. Caffine, nicotine, rogain, advil, whatever they are all "drugs". DMT is a brain neurotransmitter that is present in every single persons brain and yet DMT is a Schedual 1 controlled substance... ********' hypocrites. They have their foot in their mouth and their head up their a*****e and yet they still force this "War On Drugs". A war in which they can not and will not win.
Our kangaroo court with their shady inference have prosecuted many in the name of the "the law". Most of these people who have been lable criminals are really innocent, they have not hurt anyone. A little side note: it sounds like Maynard says "Kangaroo done hung a 'Jewru'..." I don't know if thats what he is actually saying but that is what it actually sounds like... Jew-ru. It sounds like he is saying that other than "juror" or "guru". It got me thinking, maybe its Maynard playing with words once again... "Jew-" for the obvious reason that Christ was "King of the Jews" and the "-ru" from the term "guru", a spiritual teacher, especially among the Hindus. Christ was persecuted but he was not a criminal... he was indeed a spiritual teacher and his teachings did in fact resemble a lot of Asain/Oriental spiritual teachings. And Christ also used certain plants/herbs to heal people... thus, in terms of our society today, he was using "drugs" to heal people. And the kangaroo court, in Christ's time could be seen as the Roman Catholic Church, basically hug him by getting the masses, the ********, to go against him and in turn crucify him in the name of "God" and "blasphemy".
I'm not to sure what to make of the line "Now you weep and chase the chosen indigo/get lemon juice up in your eye", except for maybe that Maynard is referring to the Idigo Children and their prophecies and that there are still other Indigo children. So these hypocrites weep for those well-known Indigo children and yet chase and prosecute the other Indigo children of modern times. They are making themselve cry with "lemon juice"... in other words... they really don't give a ******** about the known Indigo children or the unknown Indigos.
"... pissed all over my black kettel." When I heard that I immediatly got the image of the female shamans that were labeled Witches and their black kettels that inside of which brewed a brew of medicinal plants, many of which were hallucinogenic. And even the name of the song seems to back this up. These women where hunted and burned for their beliefs and practices. And any modern day witch, today, will be prosecuted by a kagaroo court and thrown in jail.
As for the part where Maynard says "You must have been high", I think he's being kind of sarcastic, in that people often say, when someone comes up with a stupid plan or idea, "What are you stoned?" And also that they are kind of high, techniqually. We all have drugs coursing through us all day. And even the fact that those who have power seem to be "high on power".
So those that are high on power and control with their fatty fingers that wave in our faces are ******** hypocrites and so full of it. They piss all over my and Maynard's black kettel because they have the power to do so. And with these people in "control" we have weakened shades of indigo and are trapped without a real reason, except for that those in power are ******** hypocrites and have set up this bullshit.
At the end of the song Maynard says what sounds like either "Ganja please..." or more appropriatly "Ganja police... you must have been out your mind."
Well this is just my wall-of-text interpretation. Thought I would share it with y'all.

god kid...i wish i could put my thoughts down into text as systematicaly and coherently as you always seem to do...
basically, i agree....but i doubt that was a shocker lol.
but, there are a couple things i wanna go a little further with...
for one, i still dont quite understand the "kangaroo" reference...am i missing something?
and secondly, when do you here Jew-ru?
its deffinitly Jury as far as i can hear it...
either way this is one of my favorite songs on the album by far.

I can't say I agree too much. But I guess it's all in the symantics and how we interpret certain words. I guess we define "drugs" differently.
As far as "pissing on the kettle", I don't think Maynard was making a reference to witch trials . . . . I see it only as being extremely hypocritical. Instead of just calling the kettle black, the pot is also pissing on the kettle.
I think he's saying "Weeping shades of indigo/Got lemon juice in your eye." Otherwise, somebody is faking crying by forcing themselves to cry by rubbing lemon juice in their eye. I imagine lemon juice in the eye would hurt . . . .
And for the Jew thing, I don't know if Maynard's too big a fan of ya boy J.C. Was there a Roman Catholic Church during Jesus' time? Wouldn't he have to have died before they worshipped him? I'm sort of confused.

Yes Lucas has a way with explaining what he thinks and I agree with how he interpretes things, most of the time. I would also like to add this is a great song and one of my favs as well!

The "kangaroo" reference... I was looking up the definition of kangaroo in a dictionary and it had the one and only obvious definition but underneath it was "kangaroo court": an irregular unauthorized court... theres more to it than that but I can't recall at the moment. Something like "without regards to true justice" or something like that... look it up. I listened to it and I still hear what sounds like Jew-ru the first time he says "Kangaroo done hung a jew-ru with the innocent", not juror or jury or guru... maybe I am part deaf but anyway I still hear it as that. It just doesn't seem to have that ee sound like "jury". Anyway I really dig this song too.

Nefarious Soy I can't say I agree too much. But I guess it's all in the symantics and how we interpret certain words. I guess we define "drugs" differently. I guess so. Quote: As far as "pissing on the kettle", I don't think Maynard was making a reference to witch trials . . . . I see it only as being extremely hypocritical. Instead of just calling the kettle black, the pot is also pissing on the kettle. I don't think I quite understand what you are saying... could you elaborate on it more? Quote: I think he's saying "Weeping shades of indigo/Got lemon juice in your eye." Otherwise, somebody is faking crying by forcing themselves to cry by rubbing lemon juice in their eye. I imagine lemon juice in the eye would hurt . . . . On listening to it again I do hear "weeping shades of indigo"... hmmm... maybe refering to indigo make-up... make-up is also like a false face... a lie. I agree with the lemon juice thing as well. Quote: And for the Jew thing, I don't know if Maynard's too big a fan of ya boy J.C. Was there a Roman Catholic Church during Jesus' time? Wouldn't he have to have died before they worshipped him? I'm sort of confused. I don't know exactly where Maynard stands on J.C. either but seeing as how his mother was very religious and that he does have a rather opened mind, I have a feeling that he doesn't fall for the Church's view of Christ, but, instead, maybe he sees Christ as more of a spritual teacher, like Buddah, other than a religious leader. I understand how you can be confused. Yes there was a Roman Catholic Church and that is one of the ******** up things about them... they persecuted him as a "blasphemer" and took him to Pilot and got the masses to agree with them... but then many many many years after that they began to "worship" him... or more appropriatly... the image of Christ on the Cross.... they worship that idol... the one of the cross and Christ on it... they seemed to have forgotten what it was that Christ taught. And BTW, do you think when Christ returns he ever wants to see a ******** cross again? People have completely missed the point and bought into the bullshit and lies of the church.

Have you ever heard the phrase, "The pot calling the kettle black,"? It's just saying that someone is a hypocrit. Like if I were to tell you that philosophy discussions don't belong in a Tool guild, I'd be a "pot calling the kettle black," since I too discuss philosophy in this Tool guild.
Now if I were to go even farther than that and completely defamate you in a sense of self-superiority, I'd be doing more than just calling the kettle black. I'd be deliberately insulting you to where it can be taken as "pissing on" the kettle.
Perhaps I'm still being a bit vague. I don't see how I can explain myself anymore though.
---
As for more support about "weeping shades of indigo" relating to fake tears without a cause, later in the song he sings (at least I think he does) "Weeping shades of indigo/Shed without a reason."

I had never heard that phrase till now. I understand what you are saying and I can see that that is probably what Maynard meant, instead of refering to the witch trials. I do hear him saying "weeping shades of indigo/shed without a reason" now. Thanks for not being a pot calling the kettle black and not pissing on it.
