It had been a few weeks since the young princess had encountered the other youths of the pride. Since than, she had spent her time with her family, keeping the ideas in her head as she waited for the chance to be free to roam on her own. Her mother had said that she would be old enough to explore, and Isoke could not wait for that time to come.

Finally, it had. When her body had grown leaner and her legs longer, Isoke knew that she was older and ready to take charge of her own life. So as soon as the sun came up, she gave her mother a light lick and rushed off into the plains, playing as much as she could with the freedom she finally obtained.

As hours went by, she found herself slowing to a small ganter, just enjoying to look at everything from the seemingly new view. As she made way to the hills, she raced up a large one to stop at the top, eyes looking out as a smile crossed her face. With the wind tickling her pelt and the grasses, she just closed her bright eyes and enjoyed the feeling of it upon her furr. Everything at that one moment was perfect.

White fangs sparkled in the sunlight as a young, white maned lion yawned. He blinked a couple times as he sat up in his grassy retreat before rubbing a paw over the top of his nose. How long had he been sleeping, anyway? The sun was definitely higher in the sky...

Tafari shrugged it off, standing to stretch his legs. He had definitely grown in both size and strength over the months. It was thanks to all the running he did, both when hunting and when he was bored. Obviously, he wasn't much of the social type, especially when he had to make the first move. Mismatched eyes wandered over the constantly moving hills. The wind always seemed to blow here. That's what he liked best about the place he called home. Although, he couldn't help but wonder what else could be out there. Was everywhere else just like his home was?

A dark color on the top of one of the hills caught his attention. Another lion? Tafari yawned again. It was none of his business. They could go where they wanted to go.

Opening one eye, and than the other, Isoke looked out into the sunlit lands before her eyes caught sight of a white form. Pausing a moment in her breathing, she almost forgot about Tafari until she remembered his vivid white pelt. With a small grin, she jumped to slide down the grassy spance before stilling at the bottom.

"Tafari!" She yelled after a pause, forgetting his full name a moment. Giggling at herself, she padded lightly to where his larger form was standing, taking her time in the process. Hoping he remembered her, she smiled moreso with her vibrant eyes than her fangs and maw.

"Tafari, it has been awhile." She murmered softly, smile still planted firmly on her face.

Tafari blinked as the dark form suddenly began to come his way. Wait... How did she know him? The male frowned, trying to think of who it could be. Suddenly remembering, a light blush fell over his nose and cheeks even before the younger female made it all the way over to him.

"Isoke," he said softly, looking down at her as she made her way towards him, "It has been a while. How have you been?" Okay, good Tafari. See? Having a conversation wasn't too bad. Although, how many times had he gone over what to say the next time he ran into her- er... someone?

The somewhat serious demonor she had a moment ago seemed to break as soon as he spoke her name, and the grin grew until her eyes shimmered with the happiness of being remembered by Tafari. She had been a bit afraid that he wouldn't remember her, considered she had never encountered a situation like this before in her life. But him saying her name seemed to relax her enough to fall back into her joyous little self once more.

"I have been great, momma finally thinks we have grown enough to travel on our own, so I was looking at the lands again..." Trailing off, she turned her head to the side and narrowed her prussian eyes, tail swinging.

"It seems so different when you can explore it on your own..."

Tafari blinked as the tension the female had seemed to melt away. Did he make her nervous? He stared at down at his paws, not knowing if he should continue talking to her or not. She was out on her own, huh? "You're being careful, I hope," he said, glancing at her. She was much too young to be wandering out on her own! If she'd been one of his siblings, he wouldn't have let her out of his sight, but because she wasn't, there really wasn't much he could do.

Mismatched eyes closed as Tafari's maw formed what looked like a soft smile, "I guess you're right. About the lands being different, I mean," he trailed off, his smile fading a bit as he opened his eyes to stare at the ground again. She wanted to explore on her own? At least that was what he was getting. "So you're going to start heading off again? You should be careful." Maybe he had some strange idea that she'd want to be in his company... But it was much more exciting to explore on your own than hang around some quiet, boring lion.

(( Arugh... He needs to grow again so he can finally be the mature adult I've been hoping he'd be... Right now he sounds so pathetic... *noogies him* D: ))

She let out a childish giggle at his first insinuations, and nodded in confirmation. Of course she was being careful, else her mother would find out and she would never travel again. It just seemed as if Ari was always watching, even if her eyes weren't there.

"I am being safe." She spoke as an afterthought, soothing over what she assumed was Tafari's discomfort over her being out alone. Paws moving in antisipation, she listened intently to his next words before an idea dawned on her. Missing his last part about being careful, else she would remind him she was, Isoke seemed to bounce over to his side. Nudging him once, she let out a soft sigh before pulling back.

"Well, you've been exploring much longer than I have, so show me all around, Taffy!"

"Tafari," he corrected her, rasing an eyebrow at her curiosity. My, wasn't she outgoing? The older male smiled lightly down at darker female. She really wanted him to show her around? He wasn't very good at exploring... He'd only done it from time to time when he had been little. Well, she was still young enough to enjoy exploring, so why not?

"Alright," he gave her a small nod, getting up and stretching out a bit, "Where do you want to explore first?" It was still early on in the day, so maybe just a quick trip to the water hole or maybe around the hills that spread out almost farther than the eye could see. As long as they stayed away from dangerous places, there was nothing he should worry about, right? And she would have the fun she seemed to want so badly.

"I know," She said softly, her eyes trailing up to his as she just smiled lightly in reaction. Of course she knew his name, but that didn't stop her from keeping up the nick-name. In her opinion, by calling him Taffy instead, it showed that they had a friendship that was meaningful. Maybe, she thought he will take the hint and give me a nickname as well...

"I don't know...surprise me?" She asked, her eyes looking around as he stretched while she thought about it. Really, she had no idea where she wanted to go, it just seemed easier letting him decide, "You know so many more places than I do..." Biting her lip, she fell into a silence as she realized the truth in her words. Maybe she should work on seeing more of her homelands.

Tafari blinked at her as she got quiet. He didn't do something to upset her, did he? "Ah, there's... This big rock just over those hills. When I was younger, I thought it was fun to just lay out on it," he mumbled, glancing off to the side, not knowing any other places she might like. He swished his tail a bit, trying to think of something else to say; the awkward silence was starting to get to him. "It might be boring, but it's one of the higher points on the plains, so you can see a lot from there," he turned, watching to see her reaction. Come on, Tafari! You could probably think of much more interesting places than a rock...

She looked at him with a blank face for a moment, wondering if he really was serious with his idea of the rock. Upon seeing him continue to explain it after the silence, she gave him a half smile and glanced towards the rock.

"As exciting as it sounds..." She said softly, murmering the words to herself and moreso to sooth any worries he had about it, "I think it might be a better idea if we explore together...the rock could help us find interesting places since it is so high up." Still the half-smile was across her maw, and she looked to him expectantly. There was not laughter in her gaze, just a nervous attempt to enjoy their time together.

Mismatched eyes glanced over at Isoke. Still set on exploring, was she? A small chuckle escaped from the back of his throat as he shook his head lightly. She sure was full of energy; maybe it would be good for him to stay around her a bit. He remembered how it was like to have someone older to show him around. Well, he didn't really have a choice since he was the only one his age when he was growing up. He didn't mind- He was happy to be able to stay around his mother.

"How fast can you run?" he asked, a serious look in his eye as he watched her. Suddenly, his maw curled into a small smirk as he turned on his heel, padding quickly through the grass, towards the rock. He wasn't running, but simply setting a good pace. She seemed like she needed to release some energy anyway.

She looked at his bi-colored eyes at the question, clear confusion crossing her dark features as her vibrant eyes just blinked up towards him.

"How fast can I run?" She echoed softly, ears flatening a moment before she caught his smirk and he padded towards the rock. Just as he realized it, she did too, and she frowed as he decided not to run. Somehow, it annoyed her that he would go so easy on her, as if she were some cub, though she knew that was not the case.

Jumping to her paws, she rushed after him, her shorter legs working to make up for lost time from her ponderings. As she touched his side, she brushed her tail against his leg in greeting before smiling out of the corner of her eye.

"I'll race ya!" And with that, she bounced off and raced as fast as she could towards the still-distant rock, looking back to see if he was following or not.

Mismatched eyes blinked in surprise, seeing the young princess catch up to him and give him a brush on the leg. What in the- she was faster than she looked! Tafari couldn't help but grin at her enthusiasm. It was actually kinda cute. Catching himself, he quickly shook his head of the thought. Of course it was cute! She was still just a kid!

Tafari let out a small snicker at her words. Race her? Alright... She was already well ahead of him- That's what he got for zoning out like that. Quickly lengthening his strides, he hurried forward after the dark pelt of the younger female. Yeah, she was a lot faster than he first thought. And that's what he got for underestimating her. Sheesh, he really needed to focus on things more!

A sudden squacking from above him caught his attention. Birds? He frowned as he glanced up at the white birds in the sky. They seemed to be heading towards the same place he and Isoke were. That was strange... He had only seen those types of birds around--

Blue and grey eyes suddenly grew wide as he raced forward to catch up to the princess. "Isoke! Stop!" he called, sounding a bit desperate as she sprinted off towards the rock at the top of the hill. Why today of all days? The presence of those birds could only mean one thing; the local and very unfriendly herd of rhinoceroses must be grazing just beyond the hill. Unless Isoke stopped, she was bound to startle them... And if that happened... Tafari lowered his head as he charged towards the female. "Isoke!" he called again, trying to get her attention. If he didn't stop her...

Ears flickering, Isoke also caught sound of the birds, and let out pearls of laughter as they flew with them. She seemed to bound at that, just letting the wind flow through her pelt and pretending to be as free as the birds around them. Hearing Tafari, she looked back at again and just rolled her eyes.

"He just want's to beat me..." Giggling, she pushed harder, the rock so close and yet Tafari easily catching up to her at the same time. It was as soon as she jumped to the large rock that she caught sight of the creatures, and skidded until she fell back off the rock at the other side. The rock was at the top of the hill, so she rolled down breathless to the bottom, right to the herd, and looking at them all with wide, azure blue eyes.
