So this topic is all about places to play D&D online. I just wanted to get an idea what you guys think. My friends I used to play table-top D&D with moved away, leaving me with noone to play with IRL... so now I hunt for other places to play D&D. If you know of any good ones, or disagree with my opinions below then let me know 3nodding 3nodding
These are the places I have found so far:
These are the places I have found so far:
The Gaia forum: I especially like the Gaia dice 3nodding
By messenger: This allows for a real-time game, but I haven't tried it.. AIM even has built in dice.
IRC: Another method for a real-time game that I haven't tried. Seems like it would be like one of those text-based MUDs.
An online game based on D&D: I spend a lot of money on books, but I prefer to be able to *see* the things I buy. I don't want to spend money on a fee for online gaming... My dial-up connection makes playing NWN online a non-option. Stormwrack costs money... Endless Online WILL be a D&D clone, but right now it is missing a lot. I still play EO a lot though, cause it is designed for low-bandwidth.
WoTC forum: My friends tell me that they have a hard time getting DMs here too...
PBEM: Play-By-E-Mail is even slower and harder to track than forum D&D.. I have tried this, but the campaign kinda died out as player never responded... (I wasn't DMing)
OpenRPG: The virtual online table-top. I have this program, and it's useful.. but I've never actually played D&D using this..
