I know that most of you not-Finnish-people have written these things in your join requests, but I'd still like to know. I'm curious, okay? sweatdrop
The question being: How did you find this Guild and also why you wished to join? What's your crazy connection to Finland?
blaugh
And, of course crazy Finns can answer this too, if they wish so. Though I doubt there will be as interesting replies as from our foreign members. I mean, being Finnish is a reason enough to join, I guess. xD

I saw a link to your guild in Invictus' UN proposal thread, and decided to join since almost all of my favourite bands are from Finland.
PS, is there an introduction thread?

My story includes most of things mentioned by the other guys above.
My friend (not suomi) took me to gaia and introduced to her friends who live in Finland. Both of them were not finns, but they were good guys and I got interested about the country they're living in. I didn't know much about it by that time.
Another reason was my favorite music - it turned to be all finnish. I listened to some songs in Finnish ang found the language nice and interesting.
Then I bought a phrase-book in my city, then a CD to learn some basic words and expressions... I'm really willing to learn Suomi, it's my crazy dream. My friends used to say I was wasting my time.
But now I've got another reason to be deeply interested in the country, it's language, customs, and inhabitants. And the reason is my boyfriend heart I thought no finnish people live in my country, but luckily I was mistaken xd
So now I'm trying to use every chance to get closer to my beloved, to understand him better, and of course be able to understand what he and other finns I meet say (not talking about movies in finnish)...
Pretty much, huh? I'm afraid the guild doesn't give me much in this sence. Unfortunately very few of finns talk to non-finns here... crying

Just push one of us against a corner and force him/her to talk with you razz Quite a few Finns are afraid to start contacts with foreigners because of being - wrongly - ashamed of their English skills. Once they get started they're usually quite happy to talk with foreigners. And, heh, anyone who found their way to GAIA probably had more than adequate skills in English smile

a-complete-mess I'm afraid the guild doesn't give me much in this sence. Unfortunately very few of finns talk to non-finns here... crying This is exactly the reason I created a subforum for our foreign members. This way all the non-Finnish members can get to know each other better, you don't have to navigate through piles of Finnish threads that make no sense and all we need now is just to get more of our Finnish members to actually come in here and talk with you. ^^ and_solo_said PS, is there an introduction thread? That's a good idea. We have this 'profile'-thread at the main forum, but I could start something like that here as well. *plans*

I didn't even know that our guild had foreign members.. redface I should be reading things more carefully.
How did I end up here? I don't really remember that well. It had to do something with some Finnish people I met in chatterbox.
And if somebody wants to talk with me, I'm more than happy to chat.

innoscent I didn't even know that our guild had foreign members.. redface I should be reading things more carefully. I'm afraid this is the point... sweatdrop Lots of people just don't know about the thread cry Surely it is not very comfortable for finns to speak to each other in English.. I'd like to know about finns more. Please introduce yourselves and say a couple of words about your country, its customs etc. so that foreigners like me see what makes you special, not like the other nationalities wink

Oh... There hasn't been much movement in the forum since last week... sweatdrop No surprise 'coz it's of no interest to finns.... sad And unfortunately it's of no use to non-finns like me... crying Pity.

I'm introducing myself now. I joined because I'm Finnish. First I didn't even know that there was a guild like this.
My real name is Niina, but my name here is antowanetto, so just call me antowanetto. I'm about fourteen years old and I live in Finland.
Our country is special because... This would be easier to say if I wasn't so used to living in here. Well, here is special that we go to sauna (I'm just back from sauna). It's a habit, at least for me. And that's all I can say. I'm proud of our country, I love Finland. *Singing national anthem* I'd love to say something poetic, but. Dot. xD
All of my relatives that I don't know very well (I have never seen them!!!1one!) live in Sweden. Ok. That thing has not anything to do with anything.
Another special thing is that we are the winners of Eurovision 2006.
I seem like an idiot, but I can't figure out anything else to say.
Wake up, forum! The world says hello! And nice to meet you, other people.
a-complete-mess, I just noticed that we have exactly same birthday. Yes! I look at people's profile pages! Ok, that was a little off topic. :3

Say what?? O.O Who is he?? I want to know his first name or nickname so I can say if I know him or not. surprised *is from kotka also* The reason why I joined, eh? Well being finnish was half a reason. The other half was the fact that I joined the old finnish guild in the guild forums once I got into gaia. It was the first thing I did, actually. The name shall be unimportant, but if you really want to know, It's Timo, but usually I want people calling me Timppa, since it sounds nicer in my ear. (or in this case I read it so that it sounds nicer) I've lived in Kotka, Finland all my life, but am ready to move somwhere else, if opportunity comes. Not permanently, though. I still am aware of my roots. That'll be all. Nice to know ya'll.
