Um... I did like Gerard Butler because he had a cool style. I Like Michael Crawford too, they do different things better.

I really like Rebecca Pitcher...she is... like whoa...

But all time favorite Christine? Teri Polo, in the miniseries. She was beautiful, modest, innocent, honest, everything a Christine should be... her only problem was her nose flared waaaaaay too much.

Best Erik? Ouch... I'd say... I don't know.. I haven't really seen an Erik who meets my expectations of an Erik... but guilty pleasures tell me to say Robert Englund just because his Erik was all psycho with amazing one liners.

Rossum and Butler were...let's face it. They were bad.

I vote for William Finley and Jessica Harper.

Like nobody could see that coming.

Oh and please spell their names right: Michael Crawford, Emmy Rossum, Gerard Butler.

Oh Alexis. I don't think Emmy and Gerard were bad. They had a style which I really liked but some people hate. Also they were not objectively bad because they won like... a metric ******** of awards... at least Emmy did... lots of rising star awards for her.

Meh. I'd write a rant about how they were bad (as I have done before) but I really don't feel like it now. Maybe later. Or I'll just wait for Fox to come in and write it.

Anyway, my point is their acting was flat, theur singing was bad and (though this isn't really proof that they are bad, more like reasons that I don't like--for Rossum--and hate--for Butler--them) they have really, really annoying smiles. Ugh. Butler smirks all the ******** time and Rossum...well, I don't know exactly how to describe the smile without having a picture and being able to point stuff out with my finger (not that finger!) but smiles like hers just annoy me for some reason. Another (more extreme) example of the same type of smile is Joan Cusack. Look her up if you want.

Emmy and Gerard were pretty bad,

emmy okay
gerard. bad.

Gerard in my opinion had to light of a vioce.

Lets face it, The phantom is , in my opinion, better to be sung in either a soft pansy voice or a strong one.

(you gotta admit, crawford DID sound a bit girly....)

What really makes me feel bad, is crawford and me sing like pansies. (and by pansy, i mean womanly)

The difference is, he gets paid a shitload gonk

ditto, emmy's smile is like, she's on drugs, happy pills....... or had plastic surgery

William Finley and Jessica Harper don't count, Alexis. xp They weren't technically an Erik and a Christine.

I don't want to turn this into another Butler/Rossum thread, so I won't say that they can't act. Quite to the contrary, they were very obviously, glaringly acting. It just wasn't very apt acting. Half the time Rossum is just standing around staring blankly and Butler seems to think he's in a community theatre performing Shakespeare with all those meladramatics.

Now as for favorites... For ALW I'm terribly fond of John Cudia and Joke de Kruijf. Or else Brad Little and Lisa Vroman if you want a more romantic pair (that's actually performed together).

For all other versions... Lon Chaney is pretty much the best Erik ever. Charles Dance is a good runner up, just because of his great line delivery. I don't think anyone has ever really played Christine fabulously, but out of the lot I think Susanna Foster and Teri Polo have done the best.

Because they were the stars of Phantom of the Paradise. And the characters were far different from Erik and Christine.

And I can't have a say because then I'm going to b***h about Brightman, tear Rossum and Butler to shreds, and still manage to bite someone else and give them rabies.

This is something I wish people would just stop talking about because no one ever ******** agrees and it was only adding to my nearly suicidal rage today.

Hey, nothing wrong with a little friendly debate. Disagreements are only annoying when people take them personally, and I know we're all more mature than that... right? *pointed stare*

It's only painful because it's a fight I get into with my girlfriend... a very intense one.

So basically you're projecting your personal irritations onto the board, hmm?
