Fear not, females, your man's silence doesn't mean he hates you or is'nt interested. Instead, the un-talkative demeanor typical of guys is an excercise in male logic. In fact, we have many reasons for our less-than-rambuntious verbal cues. Let us explore:
For one, we guys like to save time. In reality, a 3-hour conversation about what to wear tomorrow and who Katie is dating accomplishes NOTHING!!! Guy thinking: Why not say the exact same thing NOTHING ( but save ourselves 3 hours! )
and just not bother getting beyond "What's up?" Time is money, and we men are filthy rich because of this little trick.
Besides time and money, give us a break. It's genetic. Little known fact: that rib that God removed from Adam to create Eve was definetely the mythical Blabber Rib , the source of a human's need to chat. If guys don't even have one ( while all girls do ) can you really blame us for our quietness?
Believe it or not, we don't talk because we love you, when we do talk, we are prompted to answer sush damaging questions as: "Do you think i'm fat?" or "Is she prettier than me?" to which, every guy worth his salt, knows, there is no answer. We save you girls the agony of having to hear our poorly-thought out answers to these questions, by just not talking at all.
In the end, it's all about getting your attention. We know you girls go for the strong-silent types, and seeing as how most of the "strong" guys are already attached, our only choice, is to get at least half of the requirement. Silent is sexy, right ladies?
In other words, contrary to females beliefs, males are intelligent creatures, despite our lack of talking, in fact, with all of the things we accomplish without talking, you might say it's us that really get the last word.

gah i hate the no answer questions. You either tell the truth and get smacked for it or lie and get caught doing it(success rate of doing this and NOT getting caught or your actually telling the truth and she doesnt believe you: 0-5%)

its a no win situation for the guy most of the time and it annoys me beyond anything -.-

I don't know... Most guys have a little stub of a bladder rib left SOMEWHERE in em'... for example, I play Dungeons and Dragons. You know that awful stereotype that those of us who play are totally obsessed and will keep talking about it regardless of whether present company knows wtf we're saying or not? It's true. Here's the thing though... we don't demand a response. Isn't that something? As for those trapped questions... tell her it's not the jeans. Smacked in the head or not, you won't hear the question again.

well, i've lived with my sister and her college buddies since i was 6, so i know what you mean too...

I totaly agree with you guys. I also have one other problem.
The constant talking about and comperison of the Ex-boyfriend.
She badmouths him every day but when I do something wrong then its 'he wouldn't have been like that'. Then after hearing all the bad things he did to her for months he shows up and she wants to be friends with him again and can't figure out why I don't like him. All I've heard about him is how bad he was to you.

I think all men know the pain of our silence. It is both a blessing and a curse. If we stay quite, they don't expect long winded conversations so often, but then, since we are so quite, they don't bother to ask us for our opinions on matters that we would love to give them on. Such as, "Should I buy this pair of $500 shoes?" And instead we are stuck with the dreaded questions that make us want to shake our heads in shame as we think of the best thing to say. I have a metho of getting out of such things with my GF though, I get up walk over to her, give her a small kiss on the lips and hug her tightly. It almost always gets her mind off of the question, and since men are considered horny, my behavior is acceptable. >~> It works though, so I could care less what she thinks about that.
