Ok, there has been a lot of speculation about this and this will hopefully finally clear it up once and for all (maybe).
1) I'd like to start out with this excerpt if found of a funny situation between Ted and Aldo (not in games actually or in story) from Suikox.com
Why? The ending heavily hints that it was the Soul Eater that did it. While it's not solid proof, he still wouldn't have been going in the direction that Ted took, so he shouldn't have been in area of the incident. Stop wildly guessing.
Anyway, I started a new file in Suikoden, and realized that Ted's weapon, Steel Bow, isn't any of the forms of his weapon in Suikoden IV. I checked into it, and sure enough, the second form of Aldo's weapon is Steel Bow. I wonder how that scene unfolded.
Aldo: Agh... *dies*
Ted: Noooooo! Soul Eater!!!! *falls to knees in anguish*
*sees a shiny, steel bow in Aldo's hands*
Ted: ...
Ted: Yoink! *runs*

Funny thoughts. Any way there could be a connection. In the comment box you get a letter from both Ted and Aldo saying that the other seems familiar so there may be a link. However, I'm not sure if it extends all the way though to Tir.

I truly don't know why i put Tir in the title (cause he's also friends with Ted maybe neutral ) But maybe the ending list lied. Maybe he was severly wounded and found his way somewhere else searhcing for Ted?

I have read a topic on this subject on the Suikosource forums before. I have read that Aldo wanted to become friends with Ted. At the end when they did, the Soul Eater stole Aldo's life. When he was dying, he gave Ted his bow as a remembrance of him.

Yeah. I haven't gotten that far yet, but that really sad. That makes you think too. After they do the unite attack and Aldo tries to shake Ted's hand, maybe Ted turns away, not because he doesn't want to be friends, but because he doesn't want the soul-eater to be able to take Aldo.... That's kinda depressing.
