Shinigami

Shinigami (死神 lit. "death god" in Japanese. see also kami) is a term originally used for translating personifications of death, such as Death and the Grim Reaper, but later evolved into unique fantastic characters in original Japanese works of fiction, such as manga. The term "shinigami" may also be used more loosely to refer to any god associated with death. Although death deities have existed in Shintoism, they are usually not referred to as shinigami.
arrow Some of you may have heard the term before from anime series such as bleach, full moon wo sagashite, yami no matsuei and the like.

In every cultuar is a god of death. Do Japanese take that god evil or not?

Generally I find amoung most religions that death is neutrual. Grantent, most of us fear the day it will happen, but in genral, its actually neutral.

@ Wolf - neither, I suppose. As Skage said, death may be unliked, but it is a normal occurence in life.
@ Zeh - I'm jealous. Gimme some! surprised
Hmm, I just included the most popular ones. FMA being so well-liked and all, Full Moon a shoujo anime, and Yami....well, its....suggestive. ~~<3

Hm, personally I think shinigami is quite cool, if it's like in the Bleach anime rofl (but I know it's not). And personally I dont think I am fit to be one. I have milk but i dont drink it. heart
