Hi Raevir,
Raevir
Other showed up though, right? That would have been pretty embarassing to show up to a signing with only three people there.
sweatdrop Hey, he actually signs his work with those block letters. I thought that was an imprint or something that was added in after the work was done.
xd Sadly, Shinder's was pretty bleak for Free Comic Book Day
sweatdrop . The only other people that showed up were families and kids who were passing by who were interested in the Radio Disney table setup across from Don's table. Like I said, there were only 3 diehard
Transformers fans total and that includes me. After I gave Don all my cash, I went to my regular comic book store,
Source, and it was standing-room-only there
eek gonk !
Shinder's has a reputation of being more of a card gaming, sports collectibles, and magazines store more than a comic book store, unfortunately. Shinder's, and its chain of stores, WAS the king of comic books until Source moved in 10+ years ago. For Free Comic Book Day, Shinder's gave out a bag of 4 free comics plus one could pick 2 extra from their racks of free comics
xp . Besides Don and Radio Disney giving out prizes for games, Shinder's also offered a plate of Oreo cookies and watered down Kool Aid in small cups. At Source, everyone was handed the same bag except it was filled with at least 10-15+ free comics each
eek . Source also had free fountain pop that one could drink as they pleased, bowls of chips and other snacks, local comic book artists and creators to do art and signings, free
chocolate cake, and 20% off ALL purchases that day. It might have been better if Source invited Don instead of Shinder's
sweatdrop .
It was really neat seeing Don use the marker to make out the block letters for his name
surprised ! I thought it was ingenious myself!
