Think about it.

All consensual sex can be avoided.

When people say they are having an abortion for financial/no want/etc. number of reasons, isn't it just more for the expressed purpose of having more sex?

Now of course, in comes chiming the opposite side to tell us their cause will not be defiled with such an idea!

But if they say one thing, and then we say, just don't have sex, and they say people should be able to...

That's when comparrisons of smoking and lung cancer come in. "Does that mean if someone smokes and gets cancer, they should do nothing since they chose to smoke and need to own up to responsibility? Getting rid of the cancer is only leading to more smoking." To them, abortion is not about sex, it is about safety, it is a necessary medical precaution to have available in order to make life better, easier, and safer. (don't kill me, I know as well as anyone in here that abortion is NOT safer than childbirth) So if it's faced like it's about sex, the argument turns towards how it isn't about sex vs. how it is. Then we end up looking like we want to make life unsafe for women in order to punish them, no matter what the answer is, it's how it looks, and that's not what prolife is about. I agree with this point, but I don't think it'd go over so well, it'd convince fencers that our objective is to punish women for having sex when really our objective is to protect innocent children from the legal death sentence that is in the power of their mothers. Accepting responsibility of having sex is part and parcel, but it is not a punishment anymore than it's a punishment to make a woman keep from killing her toddlers to make life easier on herself. I'm the last person to care what people think of me, but in something like this, image is a bit important because if people get the wrong idea about prolife, it's not only their loss, it's ours, it's their families' and friends', it's their future children's even, maybe.

Yeah, you've pretty much summed that sucker up. I'll just throw in my two cents, too, however. ^-^

Another aspect of women having abortions is fear. Fear that they can't support the child. Fear that they'll be a horrible parent. Fear that their social life will be ruined. Fear that their lives will be changed, and they don't know how much it will be. Fear that, if the baby was a rape baby, the person that raped them will come after the child. There is so much fear there that it's not even funny - so sex is usually the last thing on somebody's mind when it comes to pregnancy. After all, you could still have the baby and still get sex after the baby's born. =P

So yeah... basically I feel that it's the fear that usually motivates them, and that's what I want to eliminate - that fear. That little voice in the back of their head that shouts "This is bad! We have to kill it to be safe!" I want that to be gone so that the children are safe while the mothers are still comfortable. However, there are extreme pessimists and child-haters out there, and those are the worst kind of people to talk to about this subject. >_<

I agree with you both. I have found out though that in this one forum in the Extended Discussion area & these women hate children & sorry to say use abortion for more one night stands. These wemen had abortions so they can can feel more pleasure instead of taking in the responsibility of parenting. Yes they probably shudder to think of a child mastering them or a cute litle two year old accidentaly wet them selves. These women even drove out the person who posted the forum. They would have an attitude with me for being pro-life. Though I faught they're comments & false rumors stating I am way to pregnant to at the monitor. I am only 13 years old!!!! Yes if I do get raped I will 1 sacrafice my childhood & 2 either sacrafice my self. I beleive every thing has a soul & I would not beable to live with my self if I had an abortion. These people were then slinging all sorts of things that never in my life I thought an adult would have the immaturity to say to a young teen.
People are such sickos.

Lymelady, you bring up a good point that I feel needs to be addressed. In just about every abortion discussion thread in the ED, someone says that pregnant women don't deserve an easy way out. Someone says that they deserve to deal with the baby.

I don't think anyone could put a more negative outlook on pregnancy. I think that every pregnant woman DESERVES consideration for what she's going through, and I think that every pregnant woman DESERVES options. What I don't think anyone deserves is the option to destroy an innocent, healthy life for their own benefit.
