So I finally watched it. It was good. Nice action scenes. CGI was amazing. Tifa was hawt.
But it wasn't an amazing movie. Like I said, it was good. But I feel like I'm committing some kind of sin because I'm not jizzing all over it like most people who talk about it. Am I going to hell?

BECAUSE ANUBIS IS AN FF7 FANBOY.
I haven't seen it yet, so I wouldn't know. But I'm not expecting to be jizzing in my seat while watching it.

Too much action, not enough everything else aside from fanservice. Not only is it not a good movie, it's not really worth watching and it's probably bad for your health.
Actually, I think my brain started to eat itself on a few occasions where unessisary and unexplained s**t happened.

Plotholes galore, but what do you expect from Tetsuya Nomura? It was pretty, and the fighting was good, but that was about it. Oh, and Uematsuwas a god with teh SOundrack, but he's normally a God anyways.

I watched Advent Children last night round my mate's house.
Awesome movie, the CGI is (as you said) amazing. But I didn't see why it was so over-rated. Don't get me wrong, awesome movie - But it only deserves the credit for being a good movie. It gets too much praise for just being a Final Fantasy film rather than just being a good movie.
If it was live-action it would've been so s**t, so I'm glad it was CGI. 3nodding

i liked it the movie has no porpuse but it looked good and the action was great
personally the other FF movie had a better story

It was never intended to appeal to anyone but FF7 fans. Given that the game has sold some 4 million copies, that's enough to make a pretty penny off of. So it's still a financial success, despite the common person thinking it nothing special.
The other motive behind the movie was to convince the world that Square is still king in regard to computer graphics, to build loyalty as the next-gen games come out. Getting people to say to themselves "I can't wait to see what Square does with the PS3!!!" without actually promising us anything about quality of content.
