a Lion sleeps tonight.... The young cub (now youth) gave a quick flick of his tail as he raised his head. He stretched boredly before giving a short yawn while looking at the Jungle terrain before him. He took a casual step from his "den" before sneaking a glance around. Surely no one would miss him if he were gone for a few hours. With a confident nod Shemshi pushed through the entangled foliage in hopes to find his way out of the Valley.
He began to pounce invisible prey, before hopping around playfully. This would be his first time away from Valley and probably the farthest away from his mother as well. At the time he had only heard several conversations about what went on outside of the rock formations and naturally he was curious. He began to hum, while focusing on thin trail that weaved through the tall grasses and vegetation.
After the hour he found the rock formation that encircled the Valley. He looked up at the towering rocks and he pondered how'd he ever get past them. He paused for a moment in thought only to pick up the trail again following the walls that entrapped him. There had to be a way out. His walking finally paid off when his tail twitched as his black orbs soaked in the sight of the canyon. His mouth released a silent remark of awe as he saw in the distance the outside Jungle. He smirked before taking his first steps away from the Valley.

Mteuli was making his way down the rocky slope, carefully leaping from ledge to ledge or sliding down the more level parts of the rocks. He was returning from one of his many trips outside of the jungle and had chosen to reenter the lands this way. Weaving among the stones was always a challenging and rather fun passtime, though by the end it might make one's paws sore.
At the bottom of the slope he caught sight of a red and white form. He knew at once who it must be. His maw slipped into a friendly, warm smile as he finally came within a about 15 feet of the young one, landing on a large, awkwardly shaped bolder, "Why hello there, my dear Shemshi."

Shemshi couldn't help but jump when he heard Mteuli's voice. "Oh, hey Mteuli!" He smiled trying to mask that he was caught red-pawed. But it's not like anyone strictly told him he couldn't go exploring. He peered at the large boulders that Mteuli had just leaped from. His black eyes then turned back to the adult in front in.
"So~ has anything exciting happened lately? He inquired, while his paw drew random pictures in the sand. His tail swayed behind him while his eager eyes remained on Mteuli.

Mteuli didn't seem to be phaised at all by his intentions for exploration. After all, wasn't he an explorer at heart as well? Besides, he couldn't be codled forever. A little hands-on learning would do him good. But it was probably best he keep his eye on the little one anyway.
"Well...not particularly. I just got back for a little traveling myself," She moved down smoothly to stand beside him, moving his paw over Shemshi's head affectionately, "How you and your mom doing, mm?"

Shemshi hid a silent breath of relief that Mteuli didn't seem to mind. He looked up at him with admiration, "Really? Where did you go?" He paused, before speaking up again. "Oh we're doing good." He fell into a moment of thought, but his attention span broke for the time being. "Hey, Mteuli, what's beyond the Jungle?" He inquired, as his gaze returned to the tree-covered terrain.

Kauta picked her way through the dense jungle. She wasn't headed for anyplace in particular, but wandering a familiar route she picked through almost daily. Her ears twitched -- was that a voice she heard?
It was two; she recognized Mteuli easily, and the other was --
"Shemshi," she purred, as she slipped under a tangled mess of vines to join them. "And Mteuli; discussing the finer points of the art of exploring, mm?" She gave the priest a brief nuzzle, and echoed the gesture he'd given the red youth earlier, with a pet on Shemshi's head.
