I'm doing a Gilbert and Sullivan camp this summer, and I am soooo excited it's unbelievable. I don't what parts I'm doing yet, but I got to read Katisha for my audition, which was fun because you get to be crazy-evil twisted . My dad got me the box set of all their shows for Xmas ( mrgreen ) but so far I've only listened to The Gondoliers (also on my Itunes), Pirates of Penzance, and The Grand Duke.
Anyone else here like/love G+S? Which have you seen/heard? Awesome summer camps Anything related
Note: YAY! I got my music! I GOT KATISHA! YES!
I am also Lady Blanche from Princess Ida and a chorus in a bunch of others (they made me an Alto! I'm a 1st Sop! *grumps*)

HELL YES, Gilbert and Sullivan. I'm madly in love with the Pirates of Penzance. Then again, who isn't?

This guild doesn't move that fast, I know, but at least wait *5* minutes, y'know? Anyway, I'm a casual Gilbert and Sullivan fan. I've been in a few productions with my family (Connecticut Gilbert and Sullivan Society; Iolanthe and Yeoman of the Guard) and had a good time ^_^

I loved both Pirates of Penzance and The Mikado when I saw them. I'm actually listening to The Mikado right now. I really want to see HMS Pinafore to round out their operettas that I have seen. BTW, Katisha looks like such a fun character to play, and especially to sing since you can do the "ailing diva" thing. If you are really into Gilbert and Sullivan, be sure to watch "Topsy Turvey," which was recommended to me by the person who directed The Mikado that I saw. I haven't seen it yet, but he said that it was fairly accurate. Also, I saw a filmed version of The Mikado for sale at a Virgin Megastore that has Eric Idle as Koko. I really want to watch it...

UNM did HMS Pinafore not too long ago, and by that I mean a couple of years ago, when I was out west I saw it with my family and my aunt who lives out there. I begged. My father was mildly interested in it for the musical value, my brother nearly fell asleep and my aunt said that it was the most boring thing she'd ever played witness to in her life. Obviously I am the black sheep in this situation.
