Arafel sighed, roaming through the isles of the hardware store. Ilori was settled on her hip, snake-half curling around Arafel's waist nearly making a living naga-belt. Ilori was at that age where she just didn't want to be left alone without her mom. And Arafel wasn't one to complain about this... Soo, the child had been pulled along for the trip. All of her other children were old enough to stay at home... Most atleast, and they had the older people around to watch them. The only ones she worried about were the twins, but they were having fun with their sister, and she wouldn't have been gone long... Atleast thats what she told herself when she left. The woman eyed over the gizmos and gadjets of the plumbing isle... Something was wrong with the piping. Rust and leaking.. It was a real nastey mess. But why call a plumber? She had been sure it was an easy task to go down and get a new bit of pipe to replace the old one.
She looked to Ilori, finding the bright red eyes staring back at her. "So Ilori... Which one of these do you think is for our torlett?" Ilori blinked, looking to the various sizes of piping. Then back to Arafel, not having a clue what she was talking about... Or why they were here in this boring place.

Ow.
She was going to really hurt her back one day pushing these heavy carts around all the time. At least, that's what Noharu had told her...
Karoko rolled her eyes. She worries too much, the bat Eden thought sourly. I guess I should be happy since I'm the only one she worries about at all...
Epesically considered she had siblings now. One's Noharu didn't seem to care about. At all. It frustrated Karoko to no end, but what could she do about it? Nothing.
With a heavy sigh she reached up to one of the large wrenches and dumped it in the cart. With all the pipes and tools and things, one would have to guess it was at least a few hundred pounds.
And a few hundred dollars.
"Maybe I should get job..." At the end of the last word, she realized that wouldn't be possible at age 12. For a little while, she'd have to learn to accept 'mooching' off her mom. Ugh.
The next isle contained mostly of pipes. She needed a few like this to fix some things in the bathroom. With three families living in the house now, things never failed to break daily.
She reached up and pulled one down, struggling to read what brand, size and price the label above where they were shelved said.
Her eyes were getting worse...

After several good moments of trying to decifer the numbering system on these things she sighed. "...Looks like we're calling the plumber, Ilori." She gave a small laugh of defeat, turning away from the pipes. "Sssumma?" Ilori repeated, that didn't sound like a good person... In the toddlers mind it sounded like an evil villian from a cheesy cartoon.
Arafels attention was drawn to a child, pushing what looked to be a good deal of weight. Or more than looked... She moved towards her, shifting Ilori on her hip only to get awkwardly constricted. Why was a child getting all this...? School project? Yea that would work for now... Being ever mindful of children Arafel spoke up with a smile, "You need any help moving all this..?"

Jeesh, I should think about getting glasses, Karoko thought. But they'd really get in the way...
She registered what Arafel had said right away. Because Karoko, even when focusing intently on something, had a way of keeping track on everything going on around her. However, it was a few seconds extra before it hit her she was the one being spoken to.
"O-oh!" The child stumbled back toward the cart and blushed nervously, waving her hands--one of which still tightly held the metal pipe--around. "Oh, n-no! I'm alright, thank you!"
As her arms lowered to her sides, she caught sight of something yellow. The color hurt her eyes. Eyes which she narrowed to try and see whatever it was better.
A toddler? Like a snake?
Oh, no! She was staring! And now she was blushing again. "O-oh, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to stare. It's just, uh... "

Arafel smiled and nodded. "Allright... Well if you need any help just ask." She almost left it at that, then the toddler spoke up. She had hardly noticed her staring, afterall it was a pretty common thing to happen to herself and family members. "Hm?" She blinked, it was then she noticed the child's features. So there were quite a few kids around Gaia with animal features now adays... But she ofcourse thought of the eden first. Seemed they were predominant around the area.
Ilori shifted, poiting at karoko and grinning. "Baa."
"Eh?" Arafel blinked.. oh bat. right. "I guess so..." She smiled, carefully moving the toddler's hand to keep her from pointing oh so rudely. "Well... I'm Arafel, and this is Ilori... She's an albino python or so I'm told." she smiled, hoping a more casual mannor might help the bat-child feel more at ease.

"I see," the child responded thoughtfully. Her ears flicked and she seemed to relax. "I've never seen a snake at all before," the Eden explained, realizing how odd that sounded. It was true, though!
There was a lot she hadn't seen. Mostly because she stayed in the garage building or fix things. The sun irratated her skin, anyway.
"I'm Karoko. Uh, Livingstone Fruit Bat," she added as an after thought.

Ilori seemed to perk up at the attention, smiling a bit brighter to the fact she was special. Afterall.. she was the only snake this girl had ever seen, that had to count for something.
Arafel smiled and nodded, she'd heard of those types.. and well it was always more appealing than a kid who ate bugs, right? Then again.. Ilori's eating habits may have been questionable. Either way... "It's nice to meet you." Arafel nodded polietly.
"Meetss!" Ilori repeated happilly, as if to say she meant the same. Her t seemed to form into an s at the last minute, making the word awkward.

"Yes, you too," the girl agreed. Thoughtfully, she glanced around the store. What else was it she needed to get? ....
Oh, well. Maybe it would come back to her later. "Where is she from?"
