Yeah. Your local equastrian area will better explain this than I can. Basically, lots of young, healthy horses are going to be slaughtered as a result of this act. Its already started. So, discuss.

Uhh, why? Is it that important that we have vast supplies of Jell-O and glue that we kill all these animals? And why would he pass that? Whats it going to do for the crappy planet we call Earth?

Apparently, alot of the land that will be gained from killing the horses will allow more land for grazing for cattle. Which would be a valid arguement if there was a shortage of meat.

Another arguement is that these horses are going to die horrible deaths because of starvation. Which is what happens when you limit the land for more cattle grazing.

I'm a vegetarian, and proud of it. I don't try to make others vegetarians but I at least want people to understand that there are cases where you have to accept animal cruelty as a fact. Like right here.

I haven't heard of this. I'm kinda more worried about the increase of logging of forests, what new country will bush go to war with next, the huge decrease in jobs in America, and loads of other things.

Its sad that humans just slaughter other animals left and right for profit, but theirs nothing we can do to stop it.

Yeah, but ever since Kent State, people are fearing the government's abuse of power more and more to do anything about it.

Well, right now my school's seirra club seems to feel like doing something about it. At least two members are willing to sit at a table all day to give out the information, and Im sure several members of the campus green party will help us.

Talking Wild Horse Blues

I like to ride horse back now and then,
Forget the dogs, they're man's best friend.
An important part of history,
They helped make america for you and me.
But Conrad Burns does disagree.
He thinks those horses are fit for Pedigree
Pet food.
Or maybe its just that their land,
Is not fit for glue or pet food that is canned.
Lots of oil around those parts,
And people pay alot more for cattle hearts.
Horses don't make the money that should,
If you could profit from their survival,
I bet he would just,
Close the slaughter house door,
Especially for the horses under four.
At least the ponies,
I think you agree,
Should have half a chance at being free.
But they can kill 'em at three, now,
I'm not saying to let it be,
Its up to intelligent folks like you and me.
You can still eat meat,
I don't give a rat's a**.
But needless slaughter just shouldn't pass.

I love Talking Blues! Phil Ochs, Tom Paxton, I love you guys! If my school's Seirra club does something about this I will sing this.

I don't think Congress is going to allow Bush to go to war with another country quite yet. The other stuff I agree with. If we keep ******** up our planet like this we'll be living in a world with skyscrapers as trees. The job decrease is the bigger problem than a bunch of horses getting killed.

On the horse thing and the vegetarian guy, I sort of agree. Suppose we're giving the beef made to a poor country or to our poor to help out. It depends on what the purpose of the beef grazing is. And are you a vegetarian in protest of the government, or because you think not eating meat is going to stop animal cruelty, or what (I'd recommend you stop and eat meat. It isn't healthy to survive without it.)?

Something that I really don't like that sorta has to do with these congressional debates is that we're wasting tax money to pay politicians to argue over the baseball players that use steroids. If players have to cheat to win, why not take away the gmae from them entirely?

Well, I actually think that baseball is a good sport, its just that if people think that the only way that they can win is by cheating that theres a problem. Its like making more than 2 million a year isn't enough. It takes about 30 years for a member of the working class to make 1 million, much of which is paid to the government who in turn pays for these lawyers to argue about addictions.
