Hey, I keep forgetting about my 3D stuff. I make jewelry too, but don't do it too often because it takes a very long time. This one here took three months because of all the alloy problems I had, but it was worth it: http://artbyrogue.com/misc/bugbrooch.html

Unique piece! Extremely well crafted. I've been through the jewelry making scene and people have NO idea of the time invovled to create a piece like yours. What dimensions does it have? I agree the copper has a much better look than brass would have. I like the mechanical quality you've given the piece rather than going for organic. Is the copper really inlaid or soldered & filed flush? Curious....Great job.

OMFG I AM SOOOO GUUD WI PHOTOSHOP I TOTALLY ROOXXORS POVRAY!
Ha! yes it's real jewelry!
Well to give you an idea of the size it's about 3 inches long, jaws included. The technique is "feaux inlay", copper wire was soldered on then hammered in. We used the feaux inlay technique because the "true" inlay would take me months to finish. So instead of 3 months it would have been around 6 months. The solder-less inlay would have taken me way way too long, so I tacked the Cu rod down in a couple corners and hammered the rest over an anvil. The entire piece was then covered in patina for that dull blue-gray look. If you could see the belly of the beast you'd see tubing soldered to a long hand-pulled pin.

That looks so cool. It reminds me of something I would see in battle star gallactica or any other sci-fi show.
