The what? Is this a serious change, or a spoof? I haven't heard anything about it.

Yeh,
Its been written in Spanish and some of the lyrics have been changed so that it rhymes in Spanish.
Personally I think it sounds like a bit of a cheesey pop song.
They've got loads of Spanish and Mexican singers to sing on it to make it more appealing.
Its supposed to be a way to try and incourage Mexicans to take a more active part in the American culture.
I'm sure there will be a website somewhere with it. Let me have a look see.

We were in the car at exactly 7pm EST, and switched between a few radio stations, but nothing. Maybe it's not being done here.

Most of the stations refused to play it. The few spanish stations here in CA that did air it got over 60% of the audience commenting against it. I personally hate it! I spend my days teaching English to adults. This is not something that we ESL teachers what to hear...

i didn't hear it...i was working a party (ugh karaoke) but I personally think it's a great idea. Of course I'm very opinionated about this whole illegals issue. It hits close to home as I am latina.

It hits close to home as I am latina. Awww I don't know too much about the issue, but I bet I'd be split on it, just as I am on every highly controversial topic. All sides have good points, and it's hard to take sides. I remember when I took ethnic sociology, and the various perspectives of assimilation versus melting pot versus letting each culture be valued and cherished were discussed. It really is a tough issue.

i want to hear it now. i like the idea of a song to make the Spanish(or any) immigrants feel more welcome in their new country, but maybe something new , not a rework of something so traditional as a country's national anthem.

Now I've heard that this new song is supposed to be some sort of political issue... a VERY indepth political issue at that. Apparently this song was written/revised by immigrants who are protesting against our president's decisions toward illigal immigration. I honestly don't think it has anything to do with making immigrants feel more "welcome" in our country... and from what I've read it that isn't the purpose of it. Some radio stations flat REFUSED to play it... some for reasons I agree and some I don't.
I'm trying to find a quote about it so I can post it so you all can find out the real information about it.
