Cirrus looked around the living room and sighed. She had spent the entire morning cleaning and now she had nothing left to do. The silence in the room was pressing in on her. She was glad to have some privacy, but without her brother the room felt so huge and empty. She absently picked at the bottom of her sweater as she looked around for the millionth time to make sure there was absolutely nothing left to clean. Sighing again she went into her bedroom and pulled out her history homework. Returning to the coffee table she folded her legs underneath her as she sat on the floor and cracked open the textbook. She started to read, but found herself re-reading the same sentence over and over again. She thought breifly to go in search of Kade to see if he'd like to do something, but remembered he had said something about being at the library today. Chewing on her lip she looked around again.

Jess had not long been back from a staff meeting. She couldn't remember half of what had gone on, spending most of it asleep. She had done a couple of hours on the range but got bored. Something seemed to be missing, her day seemed much too ... quiet.
Returning to her apartement she grabbed the clean plastic tub and headed down to see how Cirrus was doing. Not that she thought the girl needed checking on,but she had promised so it was only fair she went to see her.
Stopping outside the door she hesitated before she knocked. She wasn't sure why but she felt a bit nervous.

Cirrus jumped at the knock on her door. She wasn't expecting anyone and the noise had seemed overly loud in the silent room. She stared at the door for a moment then realized she was being silly. She was at Aquila. She was safe. Bouncing up to her feet she hopped over to the door, unlocked it, and opened it to find Jess. A frown flickered briefly across her brow in confusion before she gave her a smile.
"Hi. Whatcha doing here?" she asked, still puzzled as to why Jess would unexpectedly drop by.

"I brought your pot, thingy back." She said holding it out for Cirrus to take. Glancing past her she realised she could either go back to an afternoon of mindless boring TV or tell Cirrus the truth. She sighed. "O.k, I'm bored out of my skull and wanted someone interesting to keep me company. Looks like you drew the short straw." She finished with a shrug and a hopeful smile.

Cirrus chuckled lightly at Jess' admission and moved to open the door a little wider so she could come in.
"Honestly... I'm glad for the company as well. I tried do some studying, but my mind's just not on it," she said, closing the door behind Jess. She reached out and took the tub from her hands.
"How about I make some tea," she smiled over her shoulder as she walked into the kitchen. She put the tub back in the cabinet where it belonged and went about getting the kettle ready.

"Heh, I almost forget you guys are supposed to study." She said following Cirrus towards the kitchen. "That's what I get from hanging around Kusani and your brother too much. The biggest slackers on campus."
Grinning she watched Cirrus get the tea ready. "Hmm tea sounds wonderful" She said leaning against the door frame. "I've spent the best part of the day stuck in meetings. I need to unwind."

Cirrus snorted at her slacker remark. "No kidding," she grinned. "I've tried to explain to him that this school is different from the American ones, but he won't have it. He thinks he can still just breeze through everything." When the water was set to boil, she gestured to the living room. "Let's go have a seat while we wait for it to start boiling."
She started foward and smiled sympathetically about being stuck in meetings. "I would imagine meetings would be the worst part of being a teacher. They never seemed like they would be much fun," she said, walking over to the couch and sitting down, tucking one leg under her so she could face Jess. She looked around for a moment, then returned her eyes to her guest with a smile.
"You know.... as loud, overbearing, and obnoxious as Kayne is... I sure do miss him," she said softly, her smile wilting a little.

Jess smirked at her words and leaned back against she soft cushions. Such a comfortable sofa. "Yeah, I think I slept through most of it. As did most of the teachers." She said shaking her head. "Absolutely pointless."
At Cirrus' next words she gave her a reassuring smile. "Hmm, it is definitly quieter it's quite unsettling." She sighed, a frown crossing her features before she managed to find a change of subject. "So how have you been? Anything exciting happening in the world of Aquila that I've missed out on?"

Cirrus noted the frown that crossed her face and the abrupt change in topic, and took a moment to lean more comfortably into the sofa cushions in order to guage the importance of these actions before answering.
"I've been... very good," she said and couldn't help but smile as her thougths turned to Kade. He had been present more often than not in her thoughts lately and even apart he made her happy. "I haven't really noticed much of anything of importance around campus though. The only unusual thing was when I ran into some new kid with blue hair. He was so rude to me for accidentally bumping into him. Actually getting pushed into him. But Ra was there and stepped in. You'd be proud. I know Kayne was. He took a stance agaisnt him and stood up for me." She paused for a moment to try to push the blue haired kid out of her mind. Just thinking about him still made her blood boil. "How about you? Anything new happening in the martial arts, archery, or lit world?" she asked with a lopsided grin that mirrored her brother's.

Jess raised an eyebrow, not only at Cirrus' smile but at the mention of Kusani actually standing up to somebody. "That's good to hear." She said with a smile. "I'm glad he's finally getting the picture, although let's hope he gets the balance right."
She wanted to ask Cirrus about Kade but wondered if she would tell her about him. When they had first spoken to him Jess had been neutral. Now she hung out with Kayne so much she wondered if Cirrus would talk to her as freely as she had back then.
"Nothing aside from the usual stuff." Jess said with a shrug. Wondering how much Kayne and Cirrus talked. Did she now know as much as he did about her life. "It's all routine really, same thing day in day out. Get's kinda frustrating after a while."

"Let's hope. We don't need another Kayne wandering around campus," she grinned. She nodded in sympathy. She understood how she felt sometimes. The kettle began to whistle and she got up to quickly prepare the tea. She returned to the sofa and handed Jess one of the mugs. She curled her legs up into an Indian style and blew gently on her tea before taking a small sip, studying Jess over the edge of her mug. She wondered what was going through her mind and why she had really come down to see her. Rolling the tea around on her tongue a minute before swallowing, Cirrus decided she had a pretty good idea why. She glanced down at the area rug under the coffee table for a moment, then looked back up at Jess.
"Kayne told you to come check on me, didn't he?" she asked bluntly. She wasn't angry or upset. She should have expected it and not been surprised to see Jess at her door.

Jess winced and glanced oveer her mug at Cirrus. It seemed she had been caught out, not that it would take a genius to get it. "Yeah, he did. But don't hate me." She said looking away and down at the table. "He seemed really worried, and I know you can look after yourself, but, well, you know how it is. If I didn't come and say high he'd get upset or annoyed or something." Jess babbled on cupping her mug in her hands half wishing she hadn't bothered coming. This was all rather embarrasing. "I can go if you want?" She said a frown once again on her brow.

Cirrus rolled her shoulders a bit and shook her head no. "I don't want you to leave," she said. "I was really wanting some company. And I could never hate you Jess. Especially not when I know it's more of my brother's idea than yours." She cradled her mug in her hands and thought about what she had said. Should it strike her as so odd that this grown woman before her was so worried about what her brother would think if she hadn't done what he asked? She would have to think about that some more she decided.
"In truth... I've been meaning to come talk to you. I'm... a bit worried about something. See... I got to spend another day with Kade and... we kissed," she said, trying desperately not to blush, but not succeeding very well. "Which I'm so excited about. What I'm worried about is that I'm really falling for him so hard, and Kayne still knows nothing about him. But eventually... he's going to have to find out," she said, raising the mug to her lips.

Jess gave Cirrus a girly grin secretly so happy for her. Being all girly and squeely however was not part of Jess' personality. In truth although she knew what Cirrus felt like...or maybe not, she had never done the girly chat thing. She could remember the first guy she kissed, when she was in school, but it hadn't been anything particularly special. She certainly hadn't fallen for him.
Jess nodded understanding her position regarding Kayne, or at least what she was getting at. "You're worried about his reaction?" Sha asked taking the sip of the tea. "Kayne is going to have to deal with the fact that this guy, Kade makes you happy. I think deep down he knows that it's going to happen one day." Jess sighed. She wasn't sure what Cirrus wanted to hear. "The truth is though, I think we both know no matter how I try to help him he isn't going to take it well."

Cirrus smiled at her answer. It was everything she already knew. She just needed to have the issue aired out.
"But you know... that when it happens... he's going to go to you," she said softly and simply, her eyes watching her.
