Carlos had been carted back to the Center soon after picking up Posh, and he was not at all pleased about it. He wanted to stay home and continue chewing on Posh's tail, but Lenta knew that Posh needed a break. So, after gathering up Carlos' blanket (which Lenta had forgotten when she first left for the Center), they had shuffled back, and were now seated inside.
Carlos was busy sucking on the corner of his blanket, his brows furrowed and his ears flattened. It was already too loud for his tastes, and he had only just arrived. His eyes were full of tears; Lenta was wincing and bracing herself for the loud wailing that she knew would soon come. Oh well. That'd at least give her an excuse to bring him home, right...?
It wasn't like Lenta hated going out. She actually had a lot of fun bringing her adopted children to their centers and meadows and stores, but bringing Carlos anywhere was a pain when he didn't want to go. And he definitely did NOT want to be there at the Center.

Sjajan was a fan of dark skin. Oh yes, she was.
Now coming to the mansion almost daily to examine the gardens and experiment in the art rooms, she was up the porch, and inside before she noticed Lenta and Carlos. Her brow creased at the noise level, and she wandered over to the offending sound system to turn down the volume. No one else was around the place, so it was probably left blasting by one of the older Sin'Aeis.... Now...
The androgynous girl unstrapped her guitar from her back and set it against the wall, her expression neutral as she got to her knees and peered at the pair.
"... 'Lo."
She wasn't the boisterous type when meeting new people, not anymore. Only briefly paying attention to Lenta, her focus was on Carlos, noting that his ears were like Dante's. Still, she loved tan skin, and her favorite color was green.
"... Th' name's Jan... Ya'll 'er...?"
She'd never seen them before. Which was rare.

Carlos whimpered with relief as the noise dissapeared, and wriggled down further into his stroller, relishing the silence and his blanket's warmth. Then the one who'd made the noise go away spoke, and Carlos' ears perked as he listened.
"Nice to meet you, Jan." Lenta replied, shooting the girl a smile. She wasn't one for meeting new folks either, but seeing as how no one else was around... Plus, this Sin'aeis (for that is what Lenta guessed she was) seemed nice enough. "I'm Lenta, and this," Here she motioned to Carlos and his stroller- "is Carlos."
At hearing his name, Carlos cooed softly. He shut his eyes, raising one hand to shove his thumb into his mouth.

"Carlos..."
A soft smile curved her lips, and she reached out a long, slim finger, running it down the baby's dark cheek. She was a strange sort of lass, but aren't most 'artists'? Her brown eyes flicked over to Lenta, and she paused, hand hovering over the clasp holding the kitkat Sin to his stroller.
"Migh' I play wih' 'im, Miss Lenta?"
Now her eyes were back on the baby, and she unclipped it, figuring that Lenta would shout at her if she wasn't supposed to touch the baby. Once she'd lifted him carefully out of the stroller, she lifted him, so they were eye to eye.
"Eh, 'Los? Wann' 'ave some fun?"

Lenta tightened a bit as Jan reached for Carlos, but when Carlos cooed again and reached out for the tomboy Sin'aeis, she relaxed. She wasn't afraid of Sjajan hurting Carlos; rather, she was afraid Carlos might respond in a... less than satisfactory way. Her smile grew to a grin.
"Go right ahead."
Carlos gurgled at Jan's question, reaching out to touch her face with one chubby hand. What were those spots on her face? And the stripes...? He thought they were neat.
