Denahi was sitting at the base of the steps in the Pridelands. He was nervous, it was quite obvious about that. Rehani had finally convinced him to try and speak with her mother, the well known queen of the pridelands. The aging male waiting on the steps for his mate. He knew better than to head up without her, even though sometimes he had done so just to get Rehani's attention, but afterwards he was heading right back out to await.

Rehani descended down the stairs, smiling at the father of her cubs. "Come on up. She's ready to meet you." She gave him a gentle nuzzle, trying to calm his nerves even just a tiny bit. Denahi had no need to be worried, she hoped. She turned and began walking back up, looking back once she was near the top to see if he was following. Soon as she was sure, she continued up, disappearing into the den with only a tiny hesitation to glance at him again. "Mom," she called out softly, waiting for Denahi.

Sarabi looked up from where she lay, grooming her paws. "Rehani?" She called softly. "What is it, dear?" A single shaft of late afternoon sunlight shot down from a small hole high up in the side of the den, the shaft falling to gently illuminate the inside, bathing the elderly queen in a soft, radiant light. Bright red eyes blinked lazily, weariness dragging at the thin limbs. Why must she be so tired all of the time? She grumped to herself.

Well...it was now or never. Denahi gulped slightly, following the princess of the pridelands up the steps, only hesistating as she moved into the den. It took Denahi a few seconds to comprehend that he was to follow her inside, and soon enough he had pushed himself inside the large den.
His blue eyes spotted the gentle queen grooming herself not to far from the entrance. He'd let Rehani do all the talking. That was until, the queen would ask him a question directly. Just like his mate had felt when she met his parents, queen and king of the Kusini lands, denahi had acted the same way.

Satisfied that she'd gotten a response, Rehani looked upon her mother. Surely enough, her mother was still beautiful, though she seemed to ahve gotten weaker, hadn't she? "There's someone I'd like you to meet, Mom. He's my mate and Ezeoha, Bari, and Baakir's father."

Sarabi resisted the urge to narrow her eyes at the lion. She disapproved of the way Rehani had been left alone to care for her grandchildren. All this time, and only now was she getting to meet the father? It went against the poor Queen's whole code of conduct. Heck, her children having cubs before their reached their adulthood grated on it. But you couldn't exactly change the fact once it'd happened. Stifling a sigh at things she couldn't change, Sarabi pushed herself up into a sitting position, primly curling her tail around her paws. Not going to meet them was her small way of showing her disproval. She'd never openly act impolite, or say anything against her daughter's choice, she was far to aware of etiquette for that. "Come here, child, and introduce him to me. It is good that I finally get to meet him." There was the little pointedness at not meeting him before they'd mated, again, all she would do to show her disapproval.
Sighing inwardly, she struggled to let go of her negative feelings, and welcome the father of her beloved grandchildren.

Denahi shuffled over towards Rehani, moving to sit next to her. He was much taller than her being he was an adult, and she still a mere adolescent. "My name's Denahi..." He introduced himself, his voice quavering slightly. Sky blue eyes looked at the fragile queen, giving her a moment to see the scars that had been placed on his body by the firekins before he quickly downcasted his eyes. That was a well known idea that had been bored into his head at the time he had been a slave.

Rehani wasn't aware at her mother's disapproval, which was probably for the better. She neared her mother, nodding as he said his name. Along with the meeting, there was another matter she wanted to bring up, and it was better now than never. "Can Denahi stay here with me? With our cubs?" She didn't think her mother would turn him away. After all, rogues with no former ties to these lands were allowed into the pride, why wouldn't he? She looked at her mother hopefully as she went to sit back beside Denahi, nuzzling him again.

Sarabi regard the two with a thoughtful expression, struggling to keep unworthy thoughts and feelings from her eyes. There was no reason why he couldn't stay, beyond her pride. And her grandchildren deserved to have a father. How could she deny them that? Again she sighed inwardly and bowed her head. "Welcome, Denahi. You are welcome to stay here, to join our pride if you wish, and to raise your children. I can not deny them that, nor Rehani the joy of having you here. Again, welcome."
She settled back, finally taking on a sort of weary acceptance. If this was how it must be, then she couldn't fight it, shouldn't.

Well...would it really be denying one if they didn't believe that their father figure stood right in front of them? Denahi sighed softly, returning Rehani's nuzzle shortly after, purring quietly at his mate's affection towards him.
The charcoal male nodded. "Thank you, my queen." He said, bowing his head in utmost respect for the aging lioness. "Hopefully as I stay here, I can convince my children of who I really am." He sighed again. "I've been away from them far too long as it is now." Denahi glanced at her before smiling towards Rehani. Now they could officially be a family!
