nickname: Lex
sex: male
age: 30
looks: Average height, and average build hedging just towards thin. Dark hair that hangs is a sort of wavy fashion to just below the line of his jaw, and which he secretly obsesses over just a little. Bright blue eyes.
education: degree in art history, 'certificate' from bartending course and private investigation certification
occupation: part time bartender, part time private eye, part time supernatural s**t go-to-guy
status: still living as far as he knows
marital status: single
family: Mother and older sister, father deceased.
diction/accent: Slight southern drawl, a left over accent though - only strong one occassions where one is apt to have less control then usual.
relationships: never go very well, but the one night stands usually go even worse ._.;;
places: small apartment - gets nice sunlight and all the appliances sort of work, ignore that cracks in the walls. And Club Hell - goth-themed club where he works as a bartender part time.
possessions: clutter and junk mostly, some good books
hobbies: Browsing flee markets for dangerous/powerful objects, photography, reading
obsessions: addicted to messing with things he probably shouldn't mess with. He is the curiousity killed the cat poster boy. He realises this. He thinks there should be a support group for it, Hi I'm Lex and I'm addicted to messing with powers beyond my comprehension. >_>
beliefs: If you can't prove it doesn't exist, assume it does. Otherwise you'll be all shocked when it sneaks up behind you. Lex believes in just about everything he hasn't personally disproven. Like for example he no longer believes that garlic repels vampires >_>;;
politics: Of a different sort then you're thinking. Lex tries very hard to stay a neutral party - because taking sides is usually bad for business AND a guys health.
sexual history: ...he isn't telling you. But, he can officially say that he does NOT like being tied up, handcuffed, or otherwise restrained. And he thinks its probably just as bad if its consensual >_>
ambitions: Uncover all the deep mysteries of the universe, or as many as he can. And to avoid dying a horrible painful death.
religion: He knows how to summon a demon. Do you?
superstitions: They aren't superstitions when they actually affect your chances of survival. Seriously. Although, he does have an irrational dislike for black cats.
fears: Helplessness. And the dark >_> Although he would tell you that its not the dark, its what's lurking in the dark that you can't SEE because its so ******** DARK.
attitude: Lex is a bit morbid, and a bit of a delinquent. He puts forth a devil-may-care attitude most of the time, and he tries to be chill and calm about almost everything. If you can deal with his preoccupation with morbid bits of history, he's really a pretty easy going guy. He doesn't like being toyed with, lied to, or used, however, and he can be a bit vendictive if he finds out someone has done any of those things to him.
positive characteristics: He's a pretty honest forthright fellow, and he is fairly compassionate behind his cynical-morbid front. He's a fast thinking, and a creative one - excellent at patterns, riddles, and problem solving. He's a hard and efficient worker.
negative characteristics: He's not very good at keeping close friends, and worse at keeping relationships together - may cherish his privacy a little too much for his own good. He tends to get easily annoyed with people who aren't quick on the uptake. He uses 'playing the tough guy' as a defense mechanism.
pets: he'd probably forget to feed them if he had any
taste in books/music/etc: Likes reading non-fiction - especially history - Shakespeare, and classics. And really anything well written with an interesting concept behind it. Likes folk music from eastern europe, classical music, and various bits of other things from goth/metal to rock. Loves art in general, but is especially interested in medieval and rennaisance work.
foods: A classic canned soup and eating out sort of bachelor, but mostly out of laziness. Can cook, chooses not to most of the time. He has a secret weakness for french food. Can be bribed/seduced with tiramasu
handwriting: illegible, sometimes even to him And unless the paper is lined, the lines of writing are always crooked.
talents: A sort of sense for the supernatural, a working knowledge of alot of supernatural beings and practical magic. A talent for research. Good aim with darts and knives. A strong right hook. Makes excellent mixed drinks ^_~
History:Ever since Lexington can remember, he's had an odd sense of the world around him that other people just don't seem to have. He came to the realisation that other people didn't have it, when he was old enough to start expressing the things he could see and hear and...well ... know...to people, and discovered their reaction wasn't entirely positive. For awhile, as a child, he was almost convinced that he did in fact just have a very over active imagination, but the conviction didn't stand the test of time.
His father died when he was very young, young enough that his memories of him are the sort of disconnected memories of a child. He was to young to really remember or grasp the details of the situation, and when he was old enough to ask about it, no one seemed to want to talk about it. In fact the topic was nearly entirely off limits within his family. This refusal to be allowed to come properly to terms with the circumstance gave Lex a preoccupation with death and the way humanity thinks about it and deals with it.
Like many 'different' children, Lex spent his teenage years finding ways to act out in reaction to his sense of seperation from his fellow students. He was smoking before he was old enough to legally buy cigarettes, and sneaking into bars and clubs before he was in college. His sense for the supernatural started to get him into trouble at that point, and he might call it the begining of the end - it was certainly the start of his career and obsession with the supernatural world that goes on in the dark corners of the world everyone else sees.
