Wagon Order

1.WhistleStick- Fire
2. Blessed Change- Earth
3. Spotted Sage
4. Daggerheld- Earth
5. PhoenixSong- Fire
6. Narkri Chooma- Earth
7. Varekai- Air/Earth
8. Mountain Air- Earth
9. Clair d' Lune- Air/Darkness
10. Rusting Canvas- Earth
11. Weathered Melody- Air/Illusion
12. Ravenwood- Delusion
13. The Singing Bird- Wood
14. The Mudrunner- Earth
15. Wind Wheels - Fire
16. Leatherbound & Ivy-Twined- Sound
17. A Light in the Dark- Light/Shadow
18. Daityrvyn- Wood
19. Forest Spirit- Wood
20. Rhythmique- Water

So placed in the lineup because Wind Wheels, despite the breezey name, is under the element of Fire. Fire can't be around air, wood or water without problems. The Earth element of the Mudrunner is grounding and Sound can't be consumed by the flames, so it's a good place for this wagon - safe but not too stifled...

Painted like a true Gypsy wagon, Whisper Wheels is really just a large farmer's cart playing dress up. Rickety and old, Altaira keeps her beloved cart despite all it's faults, for instance pulling a canvas over it when it rains (because the tiny 'roof' is essentially useless) and pitching a tent when not on the move.

It has one large compartment built under the single driver's bench which she keeps her own food stores (as well as her treasures and money) in, under lock and key. Behind this she beds down for the night. The animal's and tack are stowed alongside her bedroll, along with two haversacks of clothes and such. This leaves a 'walkway' in which her late grandmother's bedroll used to lay.

It's Home!

Old and tired, Dan has seen better days. Having been shown affection since he was a foal, Dan, while occasionally stubborn, is a loveable mule. His one failing is that he's more trusting than your average donkey and a little less intelligent than your average horse...stupid but willing. A dear thing Altaira does not intend to get rid of just for growing old and instead lets him walk with Pearl, the feed on his back.

Pearl was a surprising gift from Heather. Altaira feels she is in her debt for letting her have such a young beauty. The filly is strong enough to pull the small cart already. Gentle and good tempered even when her mule companion isn't, Pearl is a blessing for Wind Wheels. Her family pulls A Light In The Dark wagon.

(Ignore the US mark on the mule picture X3 - need to resize/photoshop it yet or find a better picture)

Altaira Grace Roza
User Image

Name meaning: "The Flyer" or "Little Bird", female form of Altair, the name of the brightest star in the constellation Aquila. Grace simply means 'grace'. Surname - variation of Rose.
Age: Late teens but unsure of exact age. Often seems younger than she probably is due to being so shy.
Looks: Black-brown hair, skin that's paler in winter than in summer and light, pale grey eyes. Not an obvious 'beauty' but pretty in her own way and curvy in a way some would consider chubby. Bit of a short arse.
Effects: Three simple outfits, all practical, the fanciest one simular to in the image above - the other two are one colour full length dresses with a scarf and a belt or two slung on 'round her waist. Al likes her belts. Carries a dagger, small pouch of coins and a small trinket with her, and always wears her bloodstone bird that she was given not long after she joined the wagon.
Character: Practical, sure and strongwilled, she can handle herself well except....she's very very very timid at times - she knows the names of eveyrone in the wagon and has probably had small encounters during the gypsies day to day movements with most, but they aren't even worth mentioning. The leaders and Heather are exceptions to this. Being a mother to Sindri is slowly bringing Altaira out of her shell, however.
History: Mulden born, though she doesn't practise the religion and was quite happy to leave her homey life there with her gypsy grandmother Hurama. It's under the kindly old woman's guidence Altaira has followed her families roots back to the gypsy lifesytle, when life in Mulden got too much for the both of them. Sadly, Hurama had passed away before Altaira joined the other wagons. This may be one of the reasons the once wild Altaira is so shy now.
Skills: Domestic - can cook, clean and wash for herself well enough. Growing up in Mulden, she learnt a bit about agriculture and farming, and since an uncle on her fathers side bred horses and mules, she can handle Dan and Pearl well too. Reads cards for herself, but not with a true fortune tellers touch. Picked up a few things about herbs. Can't sing but remembers lays she's heard and stories, as well as writing them all down. Bit of a Jill-of-all-trades.

Sindri Arthmael Roza
User Image
Name meaning: "Small", "Shining" or "Spark" - Sindri was a maker of magical items, used by the gods, in Norse legand. Arthmael means "Stone Prince". Altaira has given him her last name, to show she truely thinks of him as a son.
Age: Unknown time was spent as a flint - clawed and shaped like a deer, one of his natural prey - and despite the transformation being not so long ago, he appears to be a mature cat. Though sometimes kittenish in his mischief making.
Looks: Sandy furred, barred with darker brown. Golden eyes. Looks like a normal member of his species, if far too intelligent.
Effects: None. Even shares Altaira's bed most of the time and refuses to have his own - the warmth is nice. Likes to play with the rose stoen bird pendant.
Character: In a word? 'Impish'. Altaira even calls him so (Schwibzik!) affectionatly when he's causing trouble. He likes to tease poor Dan though they go along well enough that he's napped beside the old mule. We think that he's not truely mean spirited, just lively and playful. Only serious when hunting or when Kala is nearby. Such affection and loyalty is confusing in a cat and in a Fire fortunette at that. Could it be a kitten-like phrase he's going through, or does he truely was to shine...? Who knows.
History:The life Sindri is living now is the only one he knows. Some connection was formed with his mother was a flint, but that's all. So far, he's followed her example and kept close to Windwheels, though he's slowly drawing her out with his own curiousity of the other gypsies and Fortunettes. Notabley, he's met the leaders and Heather - unfortantely not Amkia - and has met Kala more than once. The pair of cats don't get on well, because Sindri sees her obvious weight and size advantages and dismisses them; they are both cats, hunters, and so he damands the same respect as and from her. Lets just say Kala didn't agree...
Skills:Can hunt for himself and often brings back rabbits and other small game for his mothers pot too. Has yet to feel hungry enough to be driven to take larger prey, but he's confident he could, he was a flint deer afterall.

Items - "Treasures we hold dear~"
User Image
Rose-stone Bird
"And finally," Valelldia said, calling forth Altaira. "This is for you. A rose-stone bird. You can wear it about your neck, or keep it with you close- for some days, when you come into your magic- or your child comes into their magic, you will be able to summon magical creatures to your aid. You are strong, and yet- I sense a fragility in you. This will give you power over both- your strength... and your vulnerabilities."
Mysterious, no? This item has quickly become loved by both Altaira, who wears it, and Sindri, who loves to bat at it with his paws - or even, let it be hung around his next (where no ribbon will -ever- be allowed!).

Gift eggs
Given to Al as gifts, these are ither unhatched or very clever mimics of banya eggs - she's not sure which. Both are pretty and are being kept - though out of Lochan's sight. He doesn't like them as much.

(Thankyou!!)

Note: I know you're still on the front page of your wagon, and probably have posts you want to reserve still- so at ANY time, just let me know and I'll delete this post for you (or you can ask Silver or Maeko to do it for you) and you can repost it from wherever you save it.))

Lochan was a strange breed of Banya- one of those rare crosses. What dominated, however, was his fiery nature, and he delivered his fortune almost as soon as he was placed in his new home- catching a kernel of meij intended for his new owner as if to say "I am the greatest bird your aviary will ever have".

Will never bow
But may be broken
If ever asked to give allegiance.

Lochan hadn't had a good day. By his nature, he was both loyal and ill-tempered, and easy to find his feathers in a ruffle. Besides which, he could never decide whether the temperature was far too cool, or far too hot- his mixed parentage made him constantly ill-at-ease. So it was no wonder that he caught the nastiest kernel he could find on the wind.

Overthroned by the steps
Of a Beast of Burden
If caution's not taken

~RP~

Lochan's squarks of indignation rang out from his corner of Wind Wheels, causing Altaira to abandon the meat and vegtable she was cutting ready for her evening meal. As she went to see what was wrong with the poor bird, the bobcat Sindri struck, stealing away a few large chunks of meat.

"Impatient little /imp/!" Alt sighed and settled down. She loved her son, but he was a pain, sometimes. Knocking over Lochan's avairy just to get a snack before dinner...

Heather had decided to go visit her friend and see how the horse was that she had given her. Amkia was asleep so only Kala was with her, as it seemed that Heather wasn't going to let Kala run off or leave her alone with the angel.

She knocked on Al's door and stepped back a little, her hand holding the scruff of Kala's neck to stop her rushing off or doing anything naughty!
PostPosted: Wed Jan 03, 2007 1:44 pm

At the knock on the wood work, with the bobcat tucked under one arm, Alt clambered over the driving bench and drew back the curtain that served as Wind Wheels door. She offered a small smile. "Hullo Heather....Kala."

Kala. Golden eyes narrowed a fraction. Note the soft scent markers - this is /my/ family wagon. Well, cart.
