While at my work-study job today, I saw a poster. I adapted it a little bit and thought it'd be nice for our use. I've added blue comments where I feel they're appropriate.
The newbie is...
...The most important person on Gaia. Without the newbies, there would be no need for the Paladins to exist.
...Not a cold statistic, but a flesh and blood human being with feelings and emotions like our own. Don't insult them. You wouldn't like it if they insulted you. Golden Rule and all that.
...Not someone to be tolerated so that we can do our thing. They ARE our thing. If you're here, you should like helping newbies. IT should't be your number one job (like it's slowly becoming mine), but you shouldn't be annoyed by it.
...Not dependent on us. Rather, we are dependent on them. As was said above, without them, Gaia doesn't need us. I look forward to that day.
...Not an interruption of our work, but the purpose of it. We are not doing a favor by serving them. They are doing us a favor by giving us the opportunity to do so.

I think that's a beautiful post and will try to set my standards to follow it. It is true - without newbies this forum wouldn't grow to be so big.
And who knows - today's newbie may be tomorrow's greatest Gaian. Everyone new should be treated with respect and pointed in the right direction...
Who knows - maybe they may end up being a Paladin like ourselves. ^^

And remember - we were all newbies once as well. I certainly remember making a post in the wrong forum and being rather harshly corrected on it, and I will make it my duty to ensure that others (like myself on that July morning of 2003) are treated better.

I don't beleive I've never insulted anyone, mybe my images (which I've not posted for a looong time) were slightly offensive to some, but I've always tried to take teh time to explain what they have done wrong so they won't do it again. Some nod their heads adn understand, but some seem to blow fuse and call you the son/daughter of satan!
