OK yeah this is always what happens. You're a Wiccan and your family isn't. Well here's how you can "test the water" so to speak. First go up to your parent(s) and say "I'm thinking of changing religions" or somthing like it. This way you can see what their reaction is and get a feel for what their response will be as to when you tell them that the religion is Wicca. For most people with conservative christian families, my advice is to hit the deck from the fire that is sure to start.

What exactly do you mean by "hit the deck from the fire that is sure to start"?

Well, umm, if you have a conservative christian family, they'll probably try to perform an exorcism on you...(yes its weird I know)

I think the most important thing is not to be confrontational about it, and keep your cool, because if they get angry, and you get angry back, it's just gunna be like building a brick wall. Listen to what they have to say (or look like you are, anyway xd ), and then hopefully they'll have the decency to listen to what you have to say in return.

I dont have a problem with having a hard-out christian family who are unaccepting... (but my friend does) I still cant tell them though... If i tell my parents, they WILL tell my sisters... and I'll get no end of greif for it... I'm not hiding it, but theres no way I'm telling them...

Believe me, its not just religious familes. 2 or 3 years ago, my mom found out I practiced wicca. Now, my mom doesn't go to church, has no real religious beliefs that im aware of, and hell! We dont even own a bible! But she still went on her rant consisting of "WITCHCRAFT IS A LOT OF BULLSHIT AND I FORBID YOU FROM DOING IT!!! RAHHH FEAR ME I AM THE ALMIGHTY b***h OF THE UNIVERSE!!!" I still practice, and I think she knows, but just looks the other way about it now. The only reason she found out was because I lent my friend Scott Cunningham's Guide for the Solitary Practitioner, and her mom complained to the school. I think my mom could care less as long as its not effecting me in school. But a note on telling your parents, religious or not: Have PLENTY of information and resources on Wicca, and be prepared to counter EVERY false statement that could possibly be used against the Wiccan Religion. Believe me, your parents will try and battle your supposed "Devil-Worship Religion."

That and don't let them mix up Wicca with Witchcraft, Witchcraft is a skill that everyone possesses but may not choose to use. Just like not all Wiccans cast spells and just like people from other religions do cast spells. Its just a matter of choosing to do Witchcraft. ^.^ and there is the tip of the day. I have no idea what the tip of the day is but its just something I made up on the spot lol.

My mother has also been gaining a lot of interest in it to. but she tells me that the reason it comes to her being so paranoid about this stuff is because she had a rather bad experience once. I have no idea what happened

Ooh, grammer nazi. That's something I've not heard before.
If you really hate good grammer, then *don't* read Eats, Shoots and Leaves by Lynne Truss. It's all for the sticklers: like me. I'd read you the back of it: but it was a library book so I sadly don't have it with me..
Anyway, better get back on topic. sweatdrop
