Sorry. Found that line on a pin somewhere. Anywho...
What do you think Erik would do if he were about, in real life, and in the present time?
I actually think he'd pass up on plastic surgery. Stay in hiding. One, he has fun with it. Two, I love the guy, but I get this feeling he's happiest in his own misery in a kind of, "me against the world" kind of way.
He might get some new toys to play with though. Possibly even prance about as an eccentric rich person from time to time.

I agree but not with the stay in hiding thing. I think he might be one of the internet hackers and stock people. When he finds his next person then he will attack them. Beat them, while beating them he will sing the most wonderful music. Making the people feel happy then he'll go all insane on them and kill them.

He'd like the movie V for Vendetta. And he'd have to go into hiding because of all the fangirls after him.

He would stay hidden in some secluded mansion and become a criminal, but he would never leave his house unless he had to.
I think he would live in a church, it just seems like him. This way he could remain secluded and live in a nice-ish place, but never pay rent. He would most likely terrorize the people there, though (as he did in the plays, books, and movie).

A little Hunchback of Notre Dame-ish if you ask me. Personally I find Beauty and the Beast and Hunchback to be other versions of the same story. You can find it retold in similar lights in many times and places. I'd personally think that he'd be an emotionally scarred person from going to school with other kids or maybe being homeschooled, depending on his parents. I do believe that he would probably grow up into a serial killer who never gets caught. Or if he does get caught it's after getting tangled up with some Christine chick. His day job would be something from the Internet I'm sure.... he could almost interact with others normally that way.

Actually, I started a fanfic for something like that. The way I wrote it, he didn't seclude himself in a church, but in his apartment, where he wrote popular plays and sent them in to the local theater.

That almost sounds like Jonathan Larson, the guy who wrote Rent. Although not many of his musicals made it big as far as I'm aware. I don't think many people understand genius when it smacks them in the face. Erik's writing would probably be too "new and edgy" for people to really be open to spending money on to produce.

Erik has always struck me as a reclusive person, even if he had not been born with the face that he has. I see him as being very Hannibal Lecter-esque. Refined, interested in the arts, cultured, keeps to himself reading books and listening to music, with the occasional murder on the side.

I think he would have a restraining order put on him. He'd also kill people with a metal lasso. Rope is just soooo old.

Probably do what he never got to, get his opera and music out on stage. Also maybe go after the past people Phantom...and get tickets to musicals like Dance of the Vampires and Phantom of the opera so he himself can interupt the show.

I would go with the plastic surgery. Did you hear about that one guy in china who had that big face transplant because a bear mauled him? Yep. Cool.

But then I say if he was still in a reign of fury and hate, I say he would go around killing people with a machine gun, then hang them. But not rope. The rope thing is soooooooooooo old........ biggrin
