Big deal. Do you think Space Coyote was BORN with talent? Give 'em a break. They're children. They're entering the larval stage of artistic talent. If they practice for a few years and pick up some lessons, they'll be fine.

I agree with Kojiro, give the kids a break. I think it's good for them to post their art online. Getting feedback helps people improve. I'm not saying they all know how to take criticism, or realize there's art out there other than their favorite anime or manga, but the more people being artistic in the world the better....Though I'm not gonna pay any of the crap art any attention until it stops being crap. While there are some people that early on have a way of looking at the world that works well for being artistic, the majority of the population has to work at it if they want to acquire any level of skill. I've been drawing for years ( brief tour of my old art for proof) and only recently have I started to feel like my skill level is at a point where I can create the things I want to.

I have to agree with Kojiro and Grace on this one, even if yours truly tends to get scared when seeing some of the stuff dumped on the internet; but then, they're kids and are enjoying drawing (I hope). The tragedy is when they don't bother to nurture what talent they have via practice and acknowledging they still have to learn, thus insisting on drawing tripe for their remaining years. And if the stuff on the internet bothers you, very simply, ignore it.
"Some people are born with talent"... well, that's actually pretty damn rare, and the vast majority of people who made it in art did so through loads of hard work and training in all speres of drawing and whathaveyou. Which is why I curse the fact I never got any formal training of any sort... but I digress :/

While I would agree that encouraging some people to continue developing their artistic skills is a good thing, there is the exception to the rule that justifies such strong emotional reactions.

That's godawful That's quite a minimal reaction towards THE INTERNET'S MOST DANGEROUS ARTIST's body of work. Funny thing is that his latest comic project (go search for the link on PoE, you lazy bums) is as ugly as any of his first.

Thank you for that reminder. It is my firm belief that Gonterman's comics should be used as examples of what not to do when developing your artistic style. I just had the most nightmarish vison: a "How to" book using Dave's fan art of Sonic as examples.

I have to agree with everyone else too. It's pretty much how I improved. I look back at the crap I used to draw and I can't believe I posted that stuff. But because of it I got critiques and I'm a better artist because of it.
There is stuff out there that is just plain crap though. But it' just as easy to close the browser or move to another page and just forget about it.

Ha ha, the FAQ on that page totally cracked me up.
"What exactly is David's problem, specifically? To be honest, I couldn't even guess. All I can say is "Clearly something."
3nodding 3nodding 3nodding
Edit: I am now totally fascinated by this "I am pissed that they killed Princess Sally" comic.
It's like a weird kid's fan comic or something. I did one about Teddy Ruxpin as a kid once, and while fairly terrible, it was STILL better than this. I am literally LAUGHING OUT LOUD, just like the internet shorthand!
