((Yes, I like odd titles xd ))

Pale-toed paws moved amid the dusty atmosphere that surrounded the termite mounds. Why was the orange male there? Because he could be, and he wanted to explore the lands. His ears flicked as he looked about, watching termites flit about now and then. If things had been very different than they'd been and the plague had never happened, there would have been lions around such parts, thin and driven by revenge. But the plague HAD hit, and no such existance happened. Danzi stopped at a mound, watching the bugs.

The winds indeed had filled the air with a dust that settled none to quickly. As she moved silently across the sandy grounds, Palesa had tried to scout the vast Pridelands, unsure of just why she had lost all sounds of her winds. Days before, she could easily follow the guide, but now, everything seemed to just go in circles, always leading back to the large rock where the breeze spun around her form. Letting out a deep sigh, she felt tired and torn, and could only move slowly as if pushed.

While her soft, earthy eyes were settled on the path ahead, she failed to note that she was heading right to where Danzi was. His back may have been turned, but it took a long time before she saw his paws, and he was no more than a few feet in front of her. Stepping back a few steps, her ears flattened as she looked at his vivid pelt, and felt her breath catch. She didn't think she would find another so soon.

Orange ears flicked amid a black mane and the bright lion turned. "Oh... I didn't know anyone was out here." He turned full-body. "You look new here..." Finally he was able to look her over. His breath caught just a bit. A green lion? He'd never actually seen such a thing! The orange male walked around her giving her plenty of space in case she didn't like his attention.

She eyed him darkly as he finally took note of her, and her ears flickered up at his comment. The soft brown orbs watching his gaze as he turned, she showed the displeasure as he glanced across her form, a frown marring her soft features.

"Neither did I..." She mumbled moreso to herself as she took another step back when he moved. Her tail swished in adjitation as she let her eyes follow him, though her body showed few other signs of how she was feeling. The air around her had sent her into a sort of moody state, and she couldn't help but let her frustrations out on the stranger. Than again, at the moment, she disliked most in the pride, for few felt the same thrills she had about the winds and travels.

As he started to circle, she quickly moved around and padded to where she cut off his path, "Usually lions tend to introduce themselves before they go about with their...scouting..." She waited for him to respond, blinking her soft brown eyes as they glanced into his own emerald depths.

Danzi stopped. "Oh... Sorry." He backed up a bit and sat. "I am Danzi." His ears, filled with tiny white hairs, flicked towards her. "And you are...?"

She felt her muscles relax as he moved back and apoligized, her eyes softening back to their lighter shade as she too moved to settle down on her haunches.

"Palesa..." She murmered, her voice sounding like a faint breeze with how the syllables drifted with each tone. Distraced almost, her head turned to the side and she looked out to the dusty areas, ears flickering under the heat as she was lucky her pelt was so light. Turning her gaze back towards Danzi, she let the pause pregnate as she just sat there, starring and trying to think up words to say. It had been so long since she had enjoyed the company of another lion.

The male's mind wandered as it happened to do a lot lately. One thing he had inherited was a touch of wanderlust. "The winds speak sometimes, you know... They led me here when I was a cub..." He stared off at the rolling dust, mind traveling far away. "The dusts are what I was born amid, miles away from here..." He chuckled just a bit. "Sorry, I do that a lot... Go on about stuff in the past.." He looked around. "The winds don't look at the past or the future, they look at the present..."

As soon as he spoke, her eyes snapped away from the emerald depths. She had gotten lost in them, like the spiraling grasses of the southlands. Feeling a shiver run down her spine, she tried to listen to his musings, and found her heart beating faster. He too had felt the callings of the winds, or so he said. She had little reason not to believe him. Because, for the first time in her life, she found a lion who spoke of the winds freely. Usually, they would only agree after she said so herself.

"You...you follow the winds too?" It was a soft question, and her eyes held an intense concentration as she waited for his answer. Did she at last find another lion who enjoyed the freedom of the breeze as much as she?

"Perhaps... Or perhaps they lead me along... I've followed them since I was a cub, and I suppose it's what's kept me from joining any pride before I got my full mane..." A dust devil blew up out of the sand, spinning round and round. There were a couple termites caught in its gust, confused as they spun and could not answer their queen's demands.

"Sometimes... I think the wind is like a rivver... It flows in a strong current in some places, a weak one in others, and at places like Pride Rock, they spin around and around in a whirlpool. Right now... It feels like they're branching." He looked at the sky and the clouds that drifted by. In these lands, no rain would fall upon the dry ground. It was like the elephant graveyard, forever dry.

He scratched at his mane and ears a bit. "And I've done it again, going on..." A chuckle escaped him.

She smiled ever so slightly, her breath coming out like a light breeze taking in the form of a sigh. Shifting lightly, she once more shook the dust from her lightly toned pelt, her soft brown eyes showing that she was listening quite closly to all he had to say.

"Many do not honor the powers of the winds, who keep the pace steady through life..." She murmered, before her smile grew, "No worries, Danzi, you are speaking words that I too have commented upon. We both hold the same views about the winds." At that moment, another soft breeze shifted around them, circling just like he commented and bring dust to her nose. Feeling a soft sneeze come upon, she shook her head soon after it had passed and chuckled lightly. The sound shifted through the airs like a light tone before she looked to the sky.

"I have only just gotten to know these lands..." She murmered in some thought.

"It might help our coats if we went back to the grasses... While I might blend in even slightly here, I prefer having grass under my paws... And a clear nose." A smile was upon his maw as he rose, nodding in the direction of Pride Rock. "Care to join me? I know where a nice slow river is. Shallow, too, and very cooling to the skin and coat."

She looked away for a moment, contemplating before a small smile crossed her maw once more. Turning back, she eligantly nodded once before moving to turn and look to the direction he pointed.

"Ta'Ziyan has only shown me the rock and the watering hole, but with the heat that seems to be drenching these lands, it would be nice to know of a few good spots to cool off at." Pausing, she added a moment later, "Please, lead the way." Before waiting for his first move.

The orange male nodded, then padded towards the river border between the termite mounds and the main Pridelands. He stopped on a log, looking down at the water. It was a nice semi-oasis in the lands, surrounded by trees and brush, a log stretching across the irregularly shaped pond. Danzi smiled a bit, admiring the way the water rippled from a water bug. "This is a nice, well-shaded watering hole... But not the river we're seeking." A chuckle escaped, caught in the wind.

Saying nothing, she moved next to him paws settled on the log as well. Looking down, her brown eyes caught her own reflection, before they turned to study his. She looked over his pelt and across the dull reflection of his eyes, before turning to the real image, and pausing a moment.

"I shall remember this place for future references, but for now, I am more intrested in this river you speak so vividly of." Nodding, she left her voice one of slight indifference, something that showed nothing more than the tone of a new friend, if that. She still had yet to trust Danzi, and she had to remind herself over and over of that fact.

The male nodded, then rose, padding the rest of the way across the log. As the brush was cleared, the Pridelands, crisscrossed by many rivers, surrounded them. Ears flicking, Danzi turned and headed for one of the rivers, flowing over dirt and rock. As he stepped in, it rose up around him, only reaching his heels. Truly, it was shallow, and it was cool. "Here we go... Not too deep, not too shallow... Just right... Cubs can swim in this and not get swept away." A smile played across his maw.
