Nikiana had grown tired of being used constantly as a climbing post for Alaqua. So, she'd grabbed some books and her laptop bag, then announced to Ala that they were going to the park. Ala asked what a park was, and upon explaination that there were things to climb on, was excited and ready to go.

Niki had set her things down on a bench before taking Ala to the monkey bars. There. The kid could climb herself out while Nikiana worked on a research paper. The woman settled onto the bench, starting up the laptop, the books spread out on the other side of the bench, open to various pages of reference.

Alaqua was happily climbing about on the monkey bars, scrambling up to the top, then around and around. This was fun!

Niki had been typing away, lost in her own zone when someone suddenly spoke. The woman blinked. Darn, she'd lost her train of thought. Nikiana looked up, spotting a woman with a cute little feline girl.

"Ah, hello. I'm Nikiana and the kid on the monkey bars over there is Alaqua."

She grabbed the scattered books, making sure the page markers were still in place as she closed them. "Here. I'll make some room for you..."

She stuffed the books in her laptop bag. "There." She looked up, sheepishly, at Pi. "Sorry about that. My stuff tends to spread out... you should see my office..."

Niki chuckled. "Glad I'm not alone in that respect..."

Ala looked down at the interestingly spotted girl. This girl looked different than anyone she'd ever seen. She climbed down to meet Lucia climbing up, reaching out to see what her spots felt like. "Me Ala..."

Ooh. Her spots were soft. But all of her was soft. Not like Ter. Ter felt funny. This spotted girl was softer than Ala was. Ala looked down at her skorteralls. She liked her clothes. They didn't move too much when she was climbing about. But the girl's skirt looked cute. Bunny heads.

Niki winced a bit when the woman shouted, but, with just a glance at her own climbing child, turned back to the conversation. "What toddler isn't active? Well, Ala is active when she's awake. Which isn't very long, usually." Sensing that that required an explaination, she continued. "Alaqua has koala DNA and they aren't very active creatures. They spend most of their day sleeping. Ala spends somewhere around half of hers asleep."

She looked at the lynx girl again. "What DNA does your girl have?" Niki's guess was definately something feline. Spotted... so maybe a leopard or cheetah?

Ala nods. "Spots soft." The girl grinned as Lucia hung upside down, giggling. That looked like fun! She clung with her hind paws to the bar, dangling about. Whee!

Niki chuckled. "The reason I brought her to the park was to have her climb on something besides me for once. Though she's learned that she doesn't have to dig in with her claws. Once she realized that it hurt me and that she could climb without doing it, she stopped."

The woman glanced over at the two girls again, watching Ala flip upside down as well. She sighed and shook her head. She didn't figure that Ala would fall. After all, the kid was born climbing. (Well, she had to speculate about that one, but she'd believe if she was told so.)

Ala looked at the bunny hair pin the lynx girl was wearing. She reached up and touched her own hair pins. Hers were green. She liked green. "Hiding games?" Alaqua nodded. "Hiding games fun!" Especially hiding games that involved climbing!

Niki chuckled. "A new parent? I am. Though Ala's a pretty good kid." She glanced over at the two girls again. "I'm just dreading those teenage years..."

Ala grinned as a tree was mentioned. Trees were lots of fun to climb! And the leaves hid one rather well, too. "O'tay!"

Niki sighed. "Aye... teenagers..." She gave a slight shudder. "Luckily, that's still some time ahead of us..."

Ala looked away from the tree and back at Lucia. "You hide first?"

Ala paused. Wait... 10? Niki hadn't gotten around to teaching the girl her numbers yet, they were still working on colors and the alphabet. But Ala wasn't going to admit that. She nodded. "O'tay. You hide first." The girl sat, situating herself on the monkey bars so that she could cover her eyes with her hands. "1...3...7....11-ty"

Niki was torn between chuckling and groaning. She was not looking forward to when Ala would be interested in boys... and boys interested in her. Man was the woman glad that point had not been reached yet...
