Such a strange place.

Silently, deafly, the firey wolf padded through the forest. His sole left eyes scanned the surroundings constantly on the lookout for any signs of life or any trace of food. For too long he had gone without a kill and, as a consequence, Tasu's strength was faultering. It wouldn't be long until he'd succumb to his own fatigue.

His right eye remained sealed, forged shut by the claws of Valen, his once trusted alpha. By unknown means, his eye had remained slightly open but only an eeerie green hue penetrated from its opening. Yes, hatred could have consumed his soul, unleashed his true beast within but-no, Tasubaa merely thanked him.

A different conecpt, the young wolf had lost his sight in his right eye, true, but the alpha had increased his hearing capabilities as well. It was a loss but, also, a blessing in itself.

A passing breeze ruffled and swayed his jagged locks of hair atop his head, a slight chill supressing within his body as he couldn't let such a thing hinder his progress. He was searching, no- seeking for a place to rest as the long trek from the West had required all of his strength. Yes, he needed to rest and at least eat something...

Flicking his ears in a curious manner as he listened intently to the sounds around him, Tasubaa gritted his teeth and progressed onwards. In ones lifetime, one searches for a paradise, rakuen, but to Tasu that was one destination that remained shrouded.

He had been exhiled from his own pack by the ill-twisted orders of his childhood friend and alpha, Valen. He was afraid of a challenge, afraid that Tasubaa would plunder and maraude everything he had ever obtained. No- if he had truly known Tasubaa, he would have known that such an honorable wolf would never stoop that low.

Everything and everyone he had ever loved was stolen from him...and Tasubaa sought to face Valen again and lay claim to his pack that was under rule of a brutish monsterosity.

But when he could ever return home or find a true place to reside in always rested at the back of his mind, haunting him unceasingly.

Yet would such a day ever come?

"Where to now?" He grumbled low, as he drew deeper into the depths of the woods.

(( xD Maybe he and Kiba should meet. They're both kinda searching for something they can't quite grasp. ))

Many would say the woods were silent today, for it was dusky and cold for spring. The birds weren't singing at the present moment and there was very little activity among other creatures in this area of the forest. One wolf, however, would totally disagree. She lay perched up in one of the tall oak trees along a long, sturdy branch. How she got so high would be a mystery to others. But as she lay there, silent in her nature, she could hear the forest breathing in a sense. Nothing was ever truly silent to her, except herself.

Her companion, Blinding Dusk, had gone off alone and she didn't expect to see him soon. So, having not the heart to sleep at the moment, she watched the woods around her carefully. She was quick to notice the coming of a strange sunset colored wolf moving down below. She could hear his words, questioning himself. Her head tilted slightly to the side from her shadowed spot within the tree, wondering what he was doing.

((Yes...they would have to meet though Tasu is more confused on what to do or where he should go...he's just lost and has no idea what he's to do...))

He was getting no where.

The thick, rugged forests were hard to manuever through as each direction, each path was the same. It all just lead into one big circle and, of course, there was not even a living soul he could converse with. His brows furrowed slightly as a snort escaped from his nose. "Great. Well, at least Valen and his brutes will be thrown off the trail..."

Padding deeper within the shadows as the towering oaks and brush created a veil of darkness, Tasubba sat upon his haunches and settled down.

His ears flickered in mild curiosity, a strange wonderment or perhaps the realization that the woods were vastly different from the free, rolling plains back home. The woods seemed shrouded and secluded with secrets and unknown mysteries while, back home, every incident and news spread like wildfire to every ear by howls and cries. But as there certainly was no turning back least he was willingly to hand over his fate and very life, Tasubaa would just have to make the best of his time.

A strange feeling suddenly washed over him as his stomach churned and knotted with a feeling; he was not alone. Oh, he knew all to well that this feeling had never faultered nor trifled him in a false accusation but, from looking around, where was the other lost soul that was joining him?

Small hackles rose from his throat as he took a stand to all fours. His left eye scanned round about as his tail feathered upwards as a banner. Tasubaa was ready to fight if necessary but that would be a last resort.

Stepping away from underneath the tree, the firey wolf slowly drew out into the open. "Whose out there," he rumbled with a slight growl as the fur upon his back bristled. Swinging his head as his spikey, spear-tipped hair swayed and shook, the male drew closer and into the depths of the light.

"Show yourself."

Oh! Someone didn't look to happy. Shanti frowned slightly, for it made her feel rather sad. Wolves were so edgy here! She shifted in her perch, but still there was no sound coming from where she resided. It wasn't as if she wished to stay hidden, for if she did there would be little chance of ever finding her. But being out in the open and apparent to see wasn't exactly her style at all.

If only he were to look up! Oh, how she could be spotted then! But he didn't seem to think like that...why did wolves here never think of the trees? They were such great places to rest. She said nothing, for words was not something she was able to produce. Instead she simply watched with a sad frown about his nervous state.

Perhaps it was his imagination leading him on a wild, pointless search for another lurking soul. Or maybe he was just too tired from escaping death's grasp that he was letting himself fall victim to just another hallucination.

The firey, sunset hued wolf padded around in circles, swiping at thickets and burly shrubs for the unseen onlooker. But, so far, there was no sign nor trace. He gritted his teeth as his nose wrinkled with slight frustration. "Damn...my mind's getting the better of me. " As a slight grimmace spread across his maw, a small hint wafted within the air.

Lingering upon the soft air currents that swept elegantely through the woods was a scent. Not just any scent, though. "A wolf's scent," he muttered under his breath as he lunged into a hasteful stride, darting quickly and in every direction.

The scent was close, too close! It's strong fragrance was somewhat soothing to his mind knowing he wasn't alone yet that same relief still stirred a hint of uncertainty on what terms this wolf would fall under. But as his tongue lolled out of his mouth and the surroundings still remained desolate, Tasubaa romped in a furious manner back towards the oak tree.

What was happening to him? Had his keen senses become dull? This was...

"Stupid," he huffed as his head hung low, glorious spears of hair falling downwards in defeat. With little care, the sunset hued male flopped down onto his side and threw his head upon his forelimbs. Rest...he just needed to rest and relax.

With a sigh that drew fiercely from his maw, Tasubaa slowly rolled onto his back and stretched outwards. His muscles ached and grew taunt from running away but it was worth it. He still had his life, right?

Just before he closed his eye and flopped onto his other side as he never did like to sleep with his head facing the open, Tasubaa peered upwards. It was then that his senses confirmed his curiosity.

He wasn't alone.

Staring up to where a shrouded figure resided, the sunset hued wolf fell silent. His very breath drew quiet as he looked up towards the unknown presence. The scent well defined that it was wolf but how could any wolf climb up towards the trees?

Drawing a slight grin upon his face, Tasubaa rolled onto his side and settled his gaze back towards the limb of the tree.

"Found you."

At his grin Shanti smiled. Oh! He wasn't sad anymore! That was good, she liked that best. Her tail wagged silently back and forth and her jaws parted to widden her smile. It was nice to finally be seen! For a minute there, she had thought he would run off looking for her when she was right above his head!

At this she shifted onto her paws and disappeared. It was odd, for she had been there just a moment ago...but then, she wasn't gone, for her scent remained. Then she was there again, this time a few feet from him on the ground. Her tail wagged again joyfull before she settled back on her haunces.

Watching from the ground, Tasubaa chuckled to himself as he found himself looking into the wide smile of a female. He couldn't help but tilt his head slightly and just gaze upon her in curiosity and intrest.

Still, the questioned remained; what was she doing up in the trees and how did she get up that high?

Shaking his head and swiping at his spikey hair that draped in front of his left eye, he smiled. "What are you doing up-" she was gone? No- Impossible. She was right before his eyes and had just...dissapeared.

Though she had vanished, her scent still wafted within the air strongly. Finding himself slightly perplexed and dumbfounded he stumbled to his feet and peered upwards. "Where did you," it was right as his gaze drew towards the ground in front of him, the sunset hued wolf's maw gaped open, "go?"

Quickly shutting his maw, he smirked as his tail swayed merrily behind him. His paws shifted underneath him, gripping and rustling the earth underneath them as his eyes fell upon her.

There she sat, upon her haunches just looking at him. Tasubaa was rather excited that the wolfess had decided to join him upon the ground...he knew there was no way he could have jumped up there anyways.

"How did you do that? I mean, how did you get up into the trees and...down here?" His tone was purely of curiosity and inquiring of how any wolf could have done such a stunt. Oh, but he wanted to know!

Her ear seemed to twitch to the side in though. How to explain to someone who never climbed trees? She really didn't know. She had never been around when mother or the other older wolves of her clan taught the other pups. And somehow she couldn't really recall how she had learned. There were many ways to climb, really. The easiest was to jump from branch to branch...Perhaps she should demonstrate?

Standing up again, she jerked her head smoothly as if to say 'Like this!' and sprung into action. It was hard for her to keep the action slow and visable. It was her habit to do it quickly and to make it hard to follow. She made a great jump onto a tree branch, a jump that almost seemed impossible to do and then made another after a pause to the next branch. Did that make sense, she wondered?

The firey wolf was left standing with his maw gaping open as the wolfess lunged into a short demonstartion. His left eye focused upon her, watching as she sprang onto an enormous tree branch and then continued rising upwards higher and higher. Speechless, Tasubaa merely shook his head as his jagged hair swung in the wakes of its path.

"No way...." he muttered under his breath as he padded closer towards the tree and to where she resided.

How could anyone...any wolf be so swift? Was he really hallucinating? No, this couldn't be a dream. Tilting his head as his fire-tipped tail swayed behind him, the young adult furrowed his brows slightly. Though he knew he could never configure just how she managed to jump so high or dissapear, Tasubaa let a wide, warm smile inhabit his maw.

"First things first; Names Tasubaa, I come from West of these woods. And you are?"

Shanti paused on one of the branches when she saw he had seen her actions clearly. She wagged her tail slightly, feeling a little bashful at his sense of awe. It was nice to see someone so amazed by it! Well, at least amazed in a good way. Most of the time wolves either escaped her company due to her odd nature or her inability to talk.

And this was, of course, when the second problem arose. Her ears fell back and she looked rather sad. Her eyes were easy to read, as was her body language. She looked away, swishing her tail sheepishly. She couldn't tell him her name, after all.

Though the young wolfess had not offered her name to him, Tasu found it clear by her ashamed and bashful body language that, perhaps, she could not speak. Such a trait was uncommon among wolves as communication was centered around ones vocals; howling, confrontation and even sweet talking into affection but, for those who lacked that ability, body language was the soul foundation that proper communication could be understood.

As for Tasubaa, it was body language itself that was most used when hunting, brawling or fighting for dominance. One simple look, a swish of ones tail or the flicker of an ear portrayed a thought or a notion. Oh, he wished to know her name!

Striding around the base of the tree to where her face was slightly visible to him, he smiled. "I didn't mean to offend you...I guess I'm not all to quick at catching on," he shrugged with a minute sigh, pleading that the mishap wouldn't lead on bad terms.

"But I can guess letter by letter...right?" The sunset hued male grinned as he launched himself upwards, his forepaws up against the trees trunk as he peered upwards to the mysterious wolfess.

"What good is a name if no one knows it? I'll figure it out."
PostPosted: Mon Apr 24, 2006 7:07 pm

Shanti beamed at him, so glad that he caught on so quickly! And he didn't seem to have any problems with her lack of speach either. So many wolves had left her company due to her muteness, for it wasn't the best thing for conversations. Yet he still wanted to talk to her.

She wished she could tell him he could call her what he liked. To be honest, she only knew her name in the sign language of her clan. She was educated in speach and spelling for wolves and humans a like-though she still knew not what a human was-but since this training wasn't used it was very old in her mind. He could guess, but it was very likely she'd get mixed up. Well, it was a worth a shot?

Tilting his head slightly as he peered up towards her, he grinned. Tasubaa seemed unaware that there were countless names in different tongues, dialects and given representation of ones very personality. Well, he'd either hit the nail on the head or just give her a name just avoid calling her 'miss'...names were so much better than a casual formality.

"Let's see, is your name..Tehya? Sisiaki? Tala? Mia? Kai? Meda? Nova?" He rambled slightly, a rather intrigued expression sitting upon his face.

The sunset hued wolf knew little of the tongues of other wolves nor of their precise dialect and, as result, he was left to only question the wolfess before him with the names from his own tongue.

It was an old and estranged dialect that had been sparsely used by few two-leggers but, consequently, the wolves had found it to merge with their own dialect and diction. For generations, the strange language had served them well and, to this day, it still held strong to his ex-packs roots. Yet if the same language was helpful or perhaps some sort a a key to unlock the she-wolfs true name still remained shrouded.

A slightly cheeky smile crept across his firey maw. "Any of those close?"
PostPosted: Wed Apr 26, 2006 7:03 pm

Shanti paused, listening to his words for a long moment, as though trying to think over them. Were any of them familiar? No...they didn't seem to be. She was sure if he had said her name she would have known. So, she told him so with a small twist of her head in a "no".

She did, however, wag her tail at his attempts. All were pretty names. It was nice to have him think she might be one of them! Her smile also showed that she was happy that he was trying, even if he hadn't guessed it as of now.

He shrugged his shoulders as he chuckled to himself. Watching from below as it was obvious that none of the names clicked any sort of familiarity, it seemed that Tasu would have to take a different approach.

Though it made him grin as it appeared that the wolfess rather was fond of him at least attempting to guess, he couldn't seem to stop! But that was when an idea struck him; rather than guessing her name, why didn't he just give her one?

Yes, that seemd much better than babbling away at thousands of names. Now to just pick that one special name for her...

"Well, I'll give you a name," he announced as his tail wagged estatically behind him. "How about Mika? It means 'of the wind'."

Curiously tilting his head, Tasubaa smiled warmly. He liked the sound of it...Mika. From watching her soar into the air in breathtaking leaps, seeming almost weightless as she leapt skywards, the firey males mind had focused upon that sole name.

Such a fitting name for a wolfess who seemed to know that element better than he did.
