Recently, there have been many rumors about that this summer in the U.S. the band KoRn and Dir en Grey are going on tour together. Also, a very popular chain store Hottopic is going to sell Diru merchandise. Some fans enraged. Some pretty neutral. Here`s the link to the article. I am quite confused in this mess, myself. And also, there is this group on myspace called visual kaisen. Which is pettitioning to keep Jrock out of the U.S. because according to them, Americans are ruining it. And sucking the originality from it.
...
What do you think about this? ((Sorry if I`m repeating threads or anything. I haven`t found anything about this specific topic yet.))

I'd prefer if this went in the Dir en grey topic. ^^; Also, I don't really want rumors discussed here. Though there's been a lot of talk about it, nothing's confirmed about the tour they might be doing together.
As for my opinion....To Dir en grey, music is music, regardless of language barriers. I think the same thing. Even if you don't necessarily like a band, other people might - who knows? Dir en grey might like them. Dir en grey just see this as touring with another band in America.

I think it's funny.
Considering how Diru sounded in the last thing I heard from them, it makes sense for them to tour with the likes of KoRn, Linkin Park, or whoever the hell's playing -forgot-. Pretty much tells you what kinda music they fit in with now, if they're touring with those (other numetal) bands.
And as for the petition? Dir en grey are hardly even VK anymore (esp. considering they're technically listed as Jpop 8D). The petition in itself is a retarded idea, though. Like a petition would change anything if a band wants to come over here? They need to seriously grow up. D: And uh, Americans are not the ones "ruining" vk. Traditional VK has been getting more and more rare as Oshare-kei has been taking over. neutral There still are bands that are considered traditional vk/"KOTEkei" by Japanese fans, bands like D and Phantasmagoria. D:

Dir en grey have already been to America. If you only like them because they weren't really well known here, doesn't that mean you don't actually like THEM, you only like the image of an "unknown band" (who happens to be one of the most popular bands in Japan)? A LOT of people have known about them for years - both in America and in other countries.
Dir en grey dropped their visual image several years ago, around the time of the release of Kisou.

P.S: Grow up. You can't horde a band all to yourself. Unless you want them to go poor and starve to death. If you like them oh-so-much, shouldn't you be supporting, instead of throwing an immature fit about something you have no control over?

UHG, I remember when I first started hearing about Diru producs being sold in HotTopic and telling myself "I'm NEVER gonna buy any of that, this is a TERRIBLE idea".....two weeks latter.....I bought a t-shirt(and felt a little disgusted at myself XD)....3 days latter I went back and bought the CD(yes....with the gay new black and white cover) lol i'm disappointed in myself but I still enjoy the shirt and the CD.
Now onto the rest of the matter....I say let Diru come. Think about it, theres no way were ever going to see the Macabre or Gauze Dir en Grey ever again. At this point it would be like Gackt making apperances on MTV(and yes, it's bound to happen sooner or latter). As for that petition for keeping J-Rock/VK out of america.....I agree FOR ONE REASON, I was fliping through some Anime insider magazine at a SunCoast store in the mall, while looking through I came across an article about MTV making a deal with Hyde and his record lable for a new specialty channal made for J-Pop and J-Rock.....this makes me mad, big popular bands and preformers I say ok to(becuase big american stars become world famous why cant the japanese?) But minor slightly known indie J-Bands have no buisiness on american television anytime soon

If you don't like it being sold there, just don't buy it. Hot Topic is just a store like any other. The black and white cover isn't new, it's the same as the original regular edition cover.
It isn't for you to decide what bands have business on TV here and what don't. The Japanese MTV is just as commercialized as the American. If they're going to put indies J-rock bands on TV here, good for them. They're already on TV in Japan, and trying to shut them out is just immature. It's saying that you like the bands, but only if they're kept put away where no one can see them. In that case, you don't really like them at all. A lot of Japanese fans only "like" bands because they look pretty. You can ask them about their music and they won't even know one song. So if you're worried about that here, it's already happened. You can't expect to keep these bands locked up in Japan, when they want to get popular here. Let them do what they want - it's their choice, not yours.

They are going to have a concert with Korn and 8 other bands. I knew about this a long time ago and I thought everyone else did too. It's called the "Family Values" concert because of how cheap it is. The cheapest ticket is $9.99. But those are lawn seats, which are really far away....Dir en Grey will look like ants. 0__o)) Anyway, its in August, and since tickets always sell fast, you should buy them now if you want to go...I know my dad won't let me go though. He saw a picture of them....wearing a lot of make-up....and fake blood....so I already know not to ask...Anyway, I think it's in a place called Merryville...I don't know...I'll have to check...
[Info from the OC Dir en Grey Street Team & a K-ROQ Commercial xD]
A friend of mine told me that one of Dir en Grey's music videos was on this American TV channel that I have never of in my entire life....but that's probably because I don't have Cable. Anyway, the channel is supposedly very popular she says....
