Do you think the show will be as good as the others before it?
  Yes, of course!
  Nothing can compare to Broadway

Recently I was on The Phantom of The Opera website, for the musical and I saw that they are now casting parts for the Veneitian in Las Vegas. The cast is being hand picked by Andrew Lloyd Weber himself, which I thought was pretty cool. So discuss anything else you might have heard about it?
Would you go and see it in Las Vegas?

More info on it

I am. Have tickets for the end of June.

^___^

I don't think Webber himself really handpicked the whole cast, but they did pull some of the best actors from various casts for the secondary characters. And the leads are all double-cast so they can do two shows every day. So that should be interesting. One of the Phantoms was awesome in Les Mis.

They also claim to have trimmed at least half an hour off the show (not counting intermission) without cutting any songs entirely. I wish it was Christine's part they cut, (she has entirely too many songs), but knowing ALW it's probably everyone except Christine.

But that's alright. Y'know why? Because the chandelier explodes. It actually comes careening down at the rate of a free-fall and then blows into piece in a big ball of flames when it hits the stage. That right there makes it worth seeing.

Well I heard he had, but there tend to be such rumors. It would be cool though.
I hope you enjoy the show.
I really wanted to go see it, but my mum says we can't because we can't afford it *pout*
I rather see it New York anyway, so maybe it's for the better.
You will have to tell me about the show.
Do you happen to know if in the Broadway production the chandelier falls too?
I would think it does, but I'm not quite sure.

The chandelier falls in every production. At varying speeds, depending on the theatre.

Normally it slides down a wire at a moderate pace (a little slower than free-fall) straight down, then swings onto the stage where it's caught by stagehands as flashpots go off to make it look like a big explosion. Before the overture it's tiers are collapsed and then slowly right themselves before it rises.
Now in the Vegas production, it'll plummet straight down to the stage at the rate of free-fall (as if it were really dropping, completely unsecured) where it will hit and shatter into pieces. At the beginning of the show when it rises, the peaces will pull together. Very cool. They're supposed to have done something with the Phantom's disappearance at the end too.

I saw it.
I was very impressed with the stage and the theatre, and the cast was amazing.
But they cut too much out.
It seemed too abrupt to me, but...
that's because I'm obsessed c:
I'm sure it sounded great to those who hadn't been to see a Phantom show before.
It also followed the movie more than the stage show...
I was glad to have seen it, but don't reccomend this version over the normal one.

Funny moment: There's apparently a hook on which the phantom has to put his cape to disappear in the very last scene. He missed it around 5 TIMES. It was great xDD;

Yay, Fox! More photos than the ones from the official thread. ^^

Wow, that Christine from far away looks like Sandra Joesph but I read over the website and I know it isn't.

OMG Phantom Las Vegas was the s**t. (sorry if this has been mentioned already gonk ) Just as a heads up, because people in Vegas seem to have A.D.D or something, they limit the regular 3 hour show into 95 minutes. Which means parts of songs are just gone. Not entire ones. The only one that was completely missing was "Why Have you Brought me Here"... other than that, all of the songs are there, just in condensed version. Be aware that also, the tempo is sped up in some songs aswell...
Anywho, beyond that- it was freaking awesome! They have a Phantom Phan shoppe right next to the theatre, so it's like *orgasm* Phantom everything! A huge Phantom masque is in mural ... er whatever those little tiny square pieces are (you know, that are all one color, but you put them together to make a big picture), on the floor!!! I took me some pics of it... -^_^- The performance is mind-blowing! utterly beautiful- the set is amazing! And the singers are wonderful. It was an awesome show, and I'd give anything to see it again! heart

Oh and while we're on the subject... The greatest thing happened during the performance I attended....

It was just in the beginning where Carlotta is singing "Think of Me" and the backdrop falls, and Joseph Boquet (spelling???) sings "As God's my judge I was not at my post... monsieur there's no one there!" and right as he said "Or if there is it must be a ghost!" the mics died. All of the personal mics just shorted out. It was the weirdest thing.
They tried for a couple of moments to fix it, and finally, they were like, "It'll be just a minute, ladies and gentlemen, we're having some technical difficulties..."

And throughout the audience (me included) you could hear a few people faintly singing "he's here- the Phantom of the Opera!!!"

It was awesome! totally not part of the show, because the actors were really pissed off... xd Erik is awesome...

omg i was in vegas and i DIDN'T GET TO SEE IT!!! crying
but to make up for it my aunt bought me one of those bags that say "Prima Donna" with a phantom mask instead of an o.

the only thing that bugs me is the mask in all the ads is all chrome-y.
erik's mask is NOT chrome!

Actually, the second Notes scene is entirely missing as well.

I was at Las Vegas while they were playing it.
I was at the New York New York so the Venetian was quite close to us.
I even got to go 'inside' the Venetian.
I nearly cried.
I've never seen it, but I was soooo close!
I even got a small promotional flyer, which I still have.
XD
I heard Masquerade in the bathroom next to the stage.
I begged my parents to let me go.
I told them I'd buy the tickets.
But we were supposed to go to a water park instead.
Which we never went too.
xp
Luckily,
I went to the gift shop,
Got a shirt and playing cards, which came in a plastic bag that said Phantom on it.
XD
I kept the bag.
But I was disappointed that I didn't see any masks.

Quick question though,
They have a contract though, right?
So they have to be there for a few years?
If they are,
Then I'm going to freak out until we get tickets to go back to Las Vegas and see it!
XD
