((rp between Jay and Mizu. YAY!))
The shop was quiet and dark. Odd looking lights swung lifelessly on old chains, and it seemed like no one was around...
Swell...just swell...
Tayne peered about again. Surely there must be SOMEONE around. There always seemed to be. Sighing she ran her fingers through her draping violet-blue hair then ruffled the short dusty purple locks of the little child-like being beside her.
"Looks like we came here for nothing..."
Mikomi looked up at her adoptive parent with almost sorrowful eyes. The current situation didn't bother her one bit. No people here meant no new people to scare her half-to-death, and that suited her just fine. Still, Tayne didn't seem too happy about the empty shop.
"Well...maybe we could come back later?" There. That way they both won.

You could hear her coming about about a minute before the door opened to the store. A woman average in height with her hair done in up pigtails entered the shop. The sound og jingling came from the bells that were attatched to the hem of her shirt. She looked up a bit surprised that she saw a woman plus a child in the store. Why she was surprised she wasn't exactly sure.
"Oh...Hello." She greeted warmly, she was dressed odly, her lipstick was drawn on her lips in a geisha fashion and a small garder snake was wrapped loosely around her neck. Emerald green in colour it peered around curiously and tasted the air with a flick of its tongue.

Tayne was actually to engrossed in her own thoughts to hear the woman's bells, though her voice rang clearly through her ears. Turning her gaze her eyes fell upon the woman. Oddly enough she found the bell skirt to be quite interesting, but then again she was never noted for her fashion sence.
"Hello to you too miss." she greated with the same warmth the newcomer had shown.
As soon as the tinkling sound of bells was heard Mikomi took her usual place, cowering behind Tayne's legs. Peeking around them she saw the green thing around her neck, though she wasn't exactly sure what it was at first until its tongue flicked out.
"Ssss...snake..." she whimpered, though not in fear of the snake, but of it's weilder.

Jayoku looked about and gave a bit of a sigh. "Are either of the owners in today? I was hoping to get some questions answered." She hadn't moved though her blue eyes caught sight of Mikomi and seemed to lock onto her.
"Hello there." she said quietly noticing the trembling in the young...child's body. She never assumed it was her that the little one was afriad of but the snake coiled around her throat. "This is Serin." she said pointing to the garder snake who promptly moved to wrap around its mistresses hand.
It tasted something unfamiliar in the air and he could get closer it seemed by moving forward. It turned its head towards the pair observing them as it coiled around Jay's fingers.

She shook her head slightly, peering around and back at the woman again.
"It doesn't look like it..." she replied, then looked at Mikomi. Taking the child lightly by the arm she pulled her out from her hiding spot.
"Come now Mikomi. I highly doubt the nice lady will hurt you. Arian was new to you once, and he didn't hurt you either..." Letting go, she smiled at the woman again.
"Sorry about that miss. She's a bit...iffy around people she doesn't know. And my name's Tayne by the way. Pleasure to meet you."
Just as Tayne had let go of her arm again Mikomi skittered back behind her 'mother's' legs. What she said about Arian was true...but...
This lady wasn't Arian.
Still, she found the way the snake coiled about quite interesting. It was almost like it knew what the lady was saying. And besides, she liked the name Serin. It sounded nice.

Jayoku smiled kindly and stood up straighter to look at Tayne and nodded her head. She gave a bit of a giggle as she watched the young girl Mikomi skitter back behind her 'mothers' legs. "Nice to meet you Tayne, my name is Jayoku. " she said offering a hand which contianed no snake on it towards the woman for a friendly greeting of handshakes.
She then looked to Mikomi again. "its ok I don't expect everyone to warm up to me right away. But perhaps she would like to hold Serine? He loves children the most." She offered the little snake peered up at his mistres and back towards the child. It did seem interested.

"Pleasure Miss Jayoku," she said with full conviction as she took the woman's hand, firmly shaking it.
"You said you had some questions? I...might be able to help...at least a little." she said, offering her services, though she would not force them apon her if they weren't wanted or needed.
Mikomi blinked at the snake as it seemed to peer up at the woman, then at her, as though it knew what the lady was saying...
Was that even possible?
Still... curiousity pushed the little spirit to walk out from behind her hiding place to peer at it with a better view.

Jayoku smiled and encourged Serin to slide further aong her fingers so he could reach out towards the child haphazardly. He stretched until he knew he wouldn't be able to support himself anymore and was still a bit short from his destination. Good things snakes weren't known to be good jumpers.
Jayoku gave a soft laugh before looking to Tayne. "Perhaps you would be of help. You see I just ha some questions about my lanturn. IT is such a mysterious thing after all. The fire inside of mine burns but produces no heat nor does it produce any smoke. It seems like a endless bunch of wonders to me."

Tayne smiled slightly at Jayoku's statement about her lanturn. Oh how familliar that was...
"Well, it's quite hard to explain exactly... but..." she looked over to Mikomi, who was in enrapt with the snake the woman had brought with her. "Well... a soul of some sort is making the light inside of it..."
Shuffling her feet ever so slightly, Mikomi blinked her violet eyes in wonder. She streched out her hand and stroked the snake under the...would it be chin? It didn't feel slimey at all, which was a surprise to her.
"Uh-huh..." she said slighly right after Tayne had finished her statement. Her eyes never left the wriggling creature. "It was awefully cramped in there..."

Givign a raised and skeptical eyebrow look she took a tiny step forward so Serin would be able to slither onto the child. "A...soul you said?" she replied sounding a bit on the worries side. She had delt with lost souls before and possesed objects but never a lanturn and certiantly not a soul posssesed lanturn. Usually possesed objects were with ghosts..
"Um... is it some sort of evil demon?" she asked trying to make sense of what she had just been given as information.
Serin flicked his tongue out and tasted the air, if he could purr he would of when the small child stroked under his chin. How did she know that was one of his favorite spots to be touched? His forked tongue flicked out again briefly touching the tips of Mikomi's fingers.

Mikomi giggled as she continued to hold out her hand. How interesting this creature was! Her violet eyes blinked at the suggestion that the spirit could be an evil demon.
"Not everyone is mean... I mean... at least I don't think I'm evil..." she said sheepishly, then seemingly withdrew into her own thoughts. "I'm not a demon...am I mama?" she asked, slightly unsure.
"No Mikomi, you're not a demon," she replied. Then, looking back at Jayoku, she sighed.
"Not a demon persay..." she tried to explain. She didn't even know how it worked herself. "They're...souls... My guess lost ones with a chance at new life...or something... They just glow until one day..." she motioned over to Mikomi, "They just arrive. It's all rather strange even to me. The shop keepers never seem to be around for me to get my facts staight..."

Jayoku gave a thoughtful nod as she then observed the young girl. Her curiousity made her extremly cute, and she could sense nothing evil about the little girl at all. Besides, knowing Serin he wouldn't even go near a demon of any kind, thus her fears of evil spirits faded nearly instantly.
"That is good to hear, though perhaps I should movemy lanturn..." She trailed off thinking for a bit. "right now it is suspended and in my scrying room. I wouldn't want the spirit to get hurt when it appears."
