Well I finally got around to making this thing, yep, Mew is going on quest. But why? Because I feel like it. Although it may take some time, I'll finish it...eventually. biggrin DD

And I am on my third and fourth ideas, now fifth, which is fine. I may like one over the other eventually and take one off, actually I do already favor the Red Lynx, since I do work around one. <3

DAKARAI'S FORM
Name: Dakarai
Gender: Male
Animal: Red Lynx (Melanistic)

Hairstyle: There are two main layers to his hair, one upper layer that is a few inches shorter than the under layer on the sides of his head but slope under so that the under layer shows much more. His are feathered out and shorter as they go from cheek to forehead, and are all pulled off to the side and not covering his forehead. There is also one red-tailed hawk feather clasped to his hair on each side of his head; the one on the right side being strung much higher than the one on the left side of his head.
Hair Colour: Most of his hair is chestnut brown in colour, but Dakarai also has faded black, “patchy” hair roots.
Skin Colour: The fur of the Red lynx greatly varies, from colouration to striping and spotting, but, Dakarai only has spotting along his spine and lower arms. In general colouration, his fur is a pale to faded black, or better said a dark grey, with a roan mixture of pale tawny red around his limbs and stomach. His ears are a moderate height, coloured black with the white “eye spots” in the middle as all other felines have, along with the lynx’s normal ear tufts (although they are smaller than most other lynx’s). His tail is short and ‘bobbed,’ being lightly striped dark black on the topside. Along his spine she has a prominent pitch black strip, fading from the back of his neck to the dark black tip of his short 6 inch tail. He has a small amount of short, dark tabby stripes surrounding the prominent one; they start out as the same shade as the stripe. The stripes at the ends start to twist and eventually break apart into a mix of rosettes and spots, then fade into the pale black of his fur along the very outer edges of his back. On his front limbs, there are a few faded black stripes on his wrists up about half way in between her elbow and wrist. He has the typical cheek ruffs (which are also less pronounced than most other lynx’s).
Clothing: A thick, loose leather collar, plain except for the metal belt like loop where it clasps one end to the other; and a single loop that a silver ID tag dangles from. Aside from that and the feathers in his hair, he has nothing else on...
Personality: Dakarai is quite the feline, and that is said truthfully. He lives heavily by his instincts, seeing life as a lynx would, rather than a human, such as hunting naturally and maintaining a functioning territory of land. For he greatly hates humans, and will never play nice kitty. The cat is well known for playing those around him, manipulative, overpowering, and obnoxious, but usually to get what he needs rather than wants. Dakarai does act decent around other cats, especially his sister, loving her with no end. He is known for being more than overly protective of those and the items he holds close, always jumping to conclusions, and attacking innocent bystanders that aren’t even looking his way. This particularly annoys his sister, so even though he looks up to her, she thinks nothing of him. But who ever you are, he will always let you know he is aware of your presence, if he is in sight, and not hiding that is.

Generally a solitary being, this lynx more than often enjoys the company of silence, rather than the company of others. He does get shaken easily, thou, and scared, which is why he often seeks revenge. Having problems with feeling lonely often, one life lesson he as a red lynx must learn is how to be alone without being lonely. But even though he is solitary, he is not completely lost to society. Dakarai enjoys having the company of those he calls friends, being very attached and loyal to those she chooses to get close to. Daka is the type to tell secrets to, since she would rather die than break confidences. He himself is very secretive, and hardly ever lets anyone in on his own secrets, or true deep down emotions, unless he really, truly trusts you. But being as stubborn as he is, this hardly ever happens! Besides, his typical angst, snippy nature tends to send people on their way.

A very stubborn creature, kitty only does things his way. Another characteristic of Daka is that he is very aggressive, which is a trait he inherits directly from the Red Lynx, since it is said to be much meaner than any other lynx. He normally keeps it in check, but isn’t afraid to do what it takes to keep himself above everyone else, literally. But one thing he is not very good at controlling is his over curiosity, and also the fact that he acts upon instinct, which means he does not think before he acts. All those things seem to get him into a lot of trouble, but, he is only a kitten, maybe that will change as he grows and learns. Daka is though, still very, very wild, and will probably never be able to be tamed, just as a real Red Lynx probably never would be able to be. Despite this, his human side is very knowledgeable, and logical to a point that most people aren’t. He is most often rational and down to earth, as he views life as precious and needs to do everything possible to survive. Dakarai also learns primarily by touch, although his eyesight is great, although limited to one eye thanks to an incident that makes him now completely blind in one eye, and his hearing is even greater, he just finds it much easier.
Markings: All should be explained in the skin colour section, nothing special.
Eye color: Both of his eyes start as a bright amber colour around the pupils, then after about half of his iris the colour extends into a bright sunflower yellow around the outsides of his iris. He also has a very prominent red stripe through his left eye; it extends vertically from the top of his eye, through the pupil, to the bottom of the iris.
Eye style: Something that shows the wild spirit that lives inside of him.
Pose: A pose to fit his personality.
Extra: Daka is blind in his left eye.

THE RED LYNX
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Common Name Red Lynx (Also: Bay Lynx, Bobcat)
Scientific Name: Lynx/Felis rufus
Size: Shoulder Height; 19-22" (45-58 cm).
Weight: 12-26 pounds (4-15 kgs).
Distribution: It is found in a broad range of habitats from the Canadian/USA border down through to Mexico.
Habitat: Coniferous and mixed forest to the north, swamp areas in and around Florida, and desert and scrubland in the south-western states of the US. They are however absent from the highly cultivated areas of the northern mid-states.
Diet: The bobcat like all lynx has a great liking for hare and rabbit, which form a major part of the diet. However, unlike the canadan lynx, which almost exclusively hunts the snowshoe hare, the bobcat will commonly switch prey species when its preferred source of food is unavailable. Males will hunt larger prey such as deer in the winter months when other prey is scarce. Bobcats also prey on other small mammals, such as squirrels and chipmunk, rodents and birds.
Reproduction: Although the bobcat generally breeds between February and June in some areas, they have been known to breed all year round. The litter size is generally large, usually consisting of 1-6 young and are born after a gestation period of approximately 60 days. The kittens have a daily weight gain of approximately 25g per day and are weaned at about 12 weeks - the bobcat is independent of its mother at about 10-12 months of age.
Longevity: 12-13 years. (25 in captivity)
Population: Good numbers through out it's range.
Status: Of least concern.
Misc: The Bobcat, although it does not bare the family name is a distinct species in the Lynx genus. However although the canadian lynx and the bobcat share some of the same territory, the bobcat is perhaps more closely related to the Eurasian and Spanish lynx, having spread into North America from Asia earlier than its canadian relative. It is thought that the original bobcats were much larger than at present and have perhaps reduced in size as a result of competition with early puma species, so as to now take advantage of a different niche in the predatory food chain.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.In comparison with the canadian lynx the bobcat is generally smaller and although it shares many of the common lynx characteristics, it can be differentiated from the lynx in a number of ways. The bobcat has less pronounced ear tufts and cheek ruffs, a dark tip covering only the top of its ‘stumpy’ tail, much smaller feet, and a generally more patterned and varied coat coloration. Ground fur colour ranges from light grey, through yellowish brown to reddish brown and markings vary from ‘tabby’ stripes to heavy spotting. In general, bobcats found in the southern parts of their range are darker and smaller, whilst cats in the north are usually paler and larger.

Generally they hunt both by night and day, although there is evidence to suggest that most hunting takes place at dawn and dusk, corresponding to peak periods of activity of the hare and rabbit, their main prey species. Bobcat tend to be more diurnal during the winter months.

In behaviour, the bobcat is less secretive than its canadian relative. Despite its smaller size, the bobcat is also thought to be more aggressive than the lynx and in areas where their ranges meet, such as on the Cape Breton Island of Nova Scotia, the Bobcat has displaced the lynx from much of the island.

Although hunting is regulated in many US states the bobcat is relentlessly hunted throughout much of its range. However populations of the bobcat are high and although less common in Mexico, in general the bobcat is not threatened.

ABOUT THE WOLF
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Common Name Arctic Wolf
Scientific Name: Canis lupus arctos
Size: Height; to shoulder 25-31 inches, Length; head and body, 3-5 ft.
Weight: Up to 175 lbs, the female being lighter.
Distribution: The Arctic Wolf is the only subspecies of the Gray Wolf that still can be found over the whole of its original range; largely because in their natural habitat they rarely encounter humans.
Habitat: Arctic wolves inhabit some of the most inhospitable terrain in the world: tundra, rolling hills, glacier valleys ice fields, shallow lakes and green flats. They can live in places where the temperature is consistently below zero and the ground is always frozen. The arctic wolf is one of the few mammals that can tolerate these conditions.
Diet: They have a keen sense of sight, smell, and hearing. The wolf preys on lemmings and arctic hare, but its most substantial source of food is the musk ox an caribou. Since there is not much grass on the "frozen tundra", the wolf must travel great distances to find food.
Reproduction: Normally, only the alpha male and female breed, but in large packs others may mate as well. Due to the Arctic's permafrost soil and the difficulty it poses for digging dens, Arctic Wolves often use rock outcroppings, caves or even shallow depressions as dens instead; the mother gives birth to two to three pups in late May to early June, about a month later than Gray Wolves. It is generally thought that the lower number of pups compared to the average of 5 to 6 among Gray Wolves is due to the scarcity of prey in the Arctic. They give birth in about 63 days.
Longevity: 8-16 years. (20 in captivity)
Population: ???
Status: Many populations of wolves are stable or increasing. A few populations are declining.
Misc: A single wolf pack often travels distances up to 800 square miles in search of prey. When the temperature drops, the pack will follow the migrating animals south. Wolves usually live in small packs, or family groups, that consist of a breeding pair (the alpha male and female), their cubs, and their unmated offspring. All the wolves in the pack look up to and follow the Alpha male and female. The pack cooperates in feeding and caring for the cubs. Lone wolves are usually young males that have left the pack in search of their own territories. They avoid other wolves, unless they are potential mates. When a lone wolf finds unoccupied territory, it will claim it by marking it with its scent. The wolf will then start it's own pack when other lone wolves enter the territory.

Wolves must hunt in packs because the animals they hunt (e.g. caribou) are too large for a single wolf to take down. Surprise attacks are almost impossible in the tundra. Once the pack has found a herd of caribou, the caribou will form a circle to protect their young. The wolves now have to somehow get the caribou to shift. To accomplish this, one wolf will move from side to side to try and get the caribou to shift. Once the wolf sees the chance, it acts. Once the wolves have infiltrated the circle the caribou will flee. The wolves will then take down the smaller and weak animals. This is the classic case of "Only the strongest will survive".

The wolves are always on the move in the fall and winter. But after mating in March, the pregnant female will leave the pack to find a nursery den. Since the ground is often frozen, she is often forced to return to an old den. The cubs are born deaf, blind and helpless. They are totally dependent upon their mother, and she in turn relies on her mate to bring her the food she needs. After about four weeks, the cubs are able to eat meat. The whole pack shares in the job of feeding them with regurgitated meat from a kill. After about a year, the cubs break away of their dependence on their mother and go out on their own.

MEW

Name: "Mew Kazuma Karchekanon"
Pronounce: (Kuh-zoo-muh Kahr-SHAY-kah-nuhn)
Nicknames: Meme (May-may)
Occupation: Huntress, Shaman

Gender: Female
Species: Melanistic Snow Leopard (Tainted by shadow)
Age: Exact Unknown, appears in her late teens to early twenties.
Birthday: July 11
Sign: Cancer

Personality: From with in the shadows of the forest comes a being so mysterious and willing that she would indeed almost do anything. Brave with no end, Mew is not afraid of consequences, and will take what she deserves head on. She knows very well what she does may harm her, but she also knows is that what does not take ones life, will only make one stronger. Her will power, and the sheer power of her leopard blood, gives her great strength, both in the physical and the mental.

This feline has great desires and dreams, and one of her major goals in life it to live without barriers or poles; not giving up just because limitations, bounds, and restrictions exist. Her quiet and sneaky nature also makes it easy for her to pursue some of her almost unbelievable goals. Since she is generally silent when pursuing, no one is aware of her plans. Simply because by revealing or speaking too much about one’s pursuits it can counteract some of the effectiveness

Having the ability to do a variety of tasks at once, she is rather good at multi-tasking; that is, if she wills. Often she does like to concentrate on more than one thing at one time, but knows that it is bad for her to concentrate too hard on a single task, or to push to hard, since it makes her susceptible to imbalances with in her life. But that is truly a long lesson for the leopard to learn. Only by pacing her work and making time for rest and play can she successfully live life to its fullest. And oh does she love life, her own especially, finding that trusting herself and knowing what she wants is one of the most important things in the world. Trusting her thoughts, inner visions, and instincts is something Mew lives strongly by, and surely acts more leopard than anything else.

Another passion of this cat would be learning, except she learns in a very different way. Only by touching and experiencing new things can she truly imprint upon them, but why? Because it is said that leopards are sensitive to the touch; they have extremely sensitive hairs on their bodies, especially on their faces. Oh yes, one small warning, besides her extreme indecisiveness often experienced when trying to come up with new ideas, one of Mew’s major faults, and irks, is having her face touched.

Generally aggressive in nature, not only was this dark coloured kitty a stubborn mule in her past life, but with the extreme aggressive instincts and behaviors inherited from the leopard, well, lets just say it’s good she feels the need to control herself. Mew is capable of great things when angered, using her mind to stalk her prey. Never going into a situation head on, she takes a practical approach to revenge and any situation in general, and will hardly ever forgive and forget until she has tasted its sweet tang. Not always easily irked, her unending supply of patience makes it a lot easier for her to accept the actions of others, although always struggling with herself to put up with outsiders, another of her major faults, and inner conflicts. One thing for people to remember is that anyone who this ticking time bomb does not consider family qualifies as an outsider, and as her prey. She will wait until close enough to strike strong and hard, and leopards do not play when they hunt, so she will go for the throat, so to speak.

An enchanting combination of beauty and utility, as said by those around her, Mew functions with a wonderful gracefulness through life. She has great sensuality and passion, often being cheerful, loving, and passionate when not angered by her prey. The feline holds no darkness, and does not generally ever have cruel intentions, even when plotting revenge. Although don’t think she isn’t willing to seek harm to anyone who deserves it, because she is not.

Most comfortable while alone, our black leopard dislikes intrusions from the outside, and is very wiry of outsiders, while very close and often protects and guards those of whom she loves and considers her family. That’s right, she has no friends, maybe acquaintances, but only family, and blood does not matter a thing to her. But don’t think she still doesn’t like anyone, she loves all of those whom are alive, life, regardless of most things, she just may not ever trust or respect them. She has a very well developed sense of judgment, but at the same time is not judgmental of others. Being a truly mixed up feline, with many pros and cons just like any other creature, Mew has the patience, will, and strength of the hunter and the sense and passion of the lover.

Why are you questing for more kids when you already have one?
Because I can now that Sahra is a preteen and because I just want to, isn't that okay? Besides, it would be fun to role-play he and Sahra together... *Cackles and plots evilly*

What the flip? A 'side' quest?
Yeah, other side ideas, which I have used before and probably, will gain later on. They just need more work. But I think I am okay for the time being.

Why the Red Lynx?
I just love them; especially after working closely around my friend Dakota. I could know her better, but, you know what, I think I know her good enough. I really like her company, and often find myself standing in front of her enclosure conversing with her, staring her straight in the eye for long periods of time. And also for other extremely special reasons that are very close to my heart, ones I would rather not speak of.

Why an Arctic Wolf?
Because I love wild canines almost as much as I love wild felines~! Most especially species of wolves (Grey, Timber, and Arctic primarily) and foxes (Grey, Silver, and Arctic primarily). I chose the darker colour and light colour mix because of Aubrey's personality, and because it's handsome.

What the flip? Piebold? Melanistic?
It's a genetic defect in the colouring of many different animals. Sort of like albinism, which would be entirely white with pink eyes, or white cast like a white tiger, or melanism, like a black panther, leopard, jaguar, lion, serval, etc. Orange, red, blue tinting, the "spider-web" defect, etc. Piebold means being split coloured, often black and white or something similar, I refer to it as "The Yin-Yang Defect."

So...
What? Were you expecting more?
