The Gardens & Courtyard
bamboo forest hidden pathway old stone steps The maze Simply as seen, the beautiful scenic gardens and forestry. The estate lands are the oddest sight, to someone who has never been there, or known the owner of the surrounding lands. The foggy bamboo forest is the first obstacle to pass, a serene, captruring area. It's what separates the Haven's borderlines to the mainland. Many are lost in it's midst, never to be seen again. A hidden path in the thick of the forest leads to a long but worthwhile walk up many steps, until you enter the garden. Flowers of every shape, size, and color are in full bloom, and are even more spectacular in the evening. A maze is there for the delight of the guests and residence. Another path leads into the hidden village, surrounded by a protection of mist. The Zen Rock garden is available to the more 'concentrated' ones for quiet. Rituals, prayer and meditation can also be done there. The courtyard has many benches and trees to sit in, and a Koi Pond the lay by and feed the many fat goldfish. The castle pets are often spoted there, harrassing the fish...

Cross had unconciously wandered her way in an unfamilar place. "Damn... daydreaming's going to get the best of me one of these days..." she cursed herself under her breath. Since her 'release' from her job, Cross had been roaming the earth, breaking the laws to help the poor and needy, expanding her horizons and exploring the world. Without any family members anymore and never staying in one place too long to make friends, nothing held her back from seeing the world. She just so happened to land herself here whilst she was contemplating on her past.
This place surprised her. Outside its boundary, it was a normal forest, with pine trees and the like. Since when were there bamboo trees here? Cross shrugged it off as another wonder of the world. Besides. It was relaxing among these trees. But she soon grew weary. "Do these trees never end?!" Exasperated, she sat down with her back against a bamboo tree as she took out her flute and started playing.

Exasperated, she sat down with her back against a bamboo tree as she took out her flute and started playing. Footsteps echoed through the ancient forest of bamboo, disseminating through the forest. Fog began to creep up, as the atmosphere darkened. As Cross played her flute, she was brought to notice a path in the fog, and a chilling presence. But not a soul seemed to be in sight.... A lone pair of eyes caught her gazed at her, having heard the melody of her flute. Was this strange forest getting creepier?.....

Her ear twitched, having taught herself to be on her guard at all times. But this did not disrupt even a single note whilst she played her flute. The forming fog was mystifying yet cooling. It pricked her skin, but brought no fear to her. With one swift and graceful movement, Cross brought herself up, still playing her flute. Closing her eyes and letting her senses and memory lead her, she strolled to the start of the path that appeared among the fog. She stopped. Walking and playing once she faced the path. Though she may not see the presence, her instincts told her it was there and it had not failed her just yet. "You may come out now." Her voice was calm, yet firm. It wasn't considered loud, but it seemed to echo in the immense forest.

"That flute...It was you playing the flute...", it echoed, blurred between and unsure tone, yet confident of judgment. A tall man, majestic and beautiful, trotted gracefully from within, his silhouette tracing detail the closer he came. His walked made him seem as if he were truely floating on thin air, though he wasn't. This man, apparently not human, sported long, red hair that flowed past his pointed ears, and fell straight down with a slight inward curl. As far as the eye could see, his hair was completely natural, outgrown and unkempt, but kept to reasonable cleanliness. His thin, but pointed nose, and distinct jawline were the only hint that he was a man, aside from his height. One who didn't know him would clearly pass him off as some sort of Sesshoumaru-wannabe, but he was more than that. (Though closely related in blood- Inu Daiyoukai) Two long swords were slung across his back, and trailed down his side, encompassing his black clothing. His cloth must have been some sort of Asian-influenced feudal era wardrobe. His pants poofed down to his ankles, and he wore a Kimono shirt, also black. His black belt was fastened tightly to his wast in a neat, sagging bow. "You were playing a flute...."

the door shut quietly, and she kept her cloak shut tight, hood pulled forward to hide her face. Her eyes widened slightly at the size, and a sudden pang of recognition hit her. It is not your home I know that, it just...well part of it seems like it. Looking around, she began to wander among the courtyard until she reached some stairs. Heading up them, she found herself by a small waterfall of sorts. She took her time as she moved, eventually finding her way to the bamboo forest. Humming to herself, she paused and sat down, leaning against a tall stalk.

Off down the path, the unseen mists to her had not yet crept upon her area. The man slowy took his time, moving up the path in silence. He felt more than one presence other than his now; It was unmistaken that the mansion was arriving it's newest invitees.
As he approached, he became more wary that he was drawing upon the presence of a woman. Each foot step brough on greater and greater amasses of fog, filling up the forest. Off in the far distance, her could see the very tip-tops of the mansion roofs.

She noticed the fog, but made no sign that she did. What do you plan to do? I'm not sure, I'm still adjusting to the place. It may be wise to actually interact for once. I don't know...I always feel weird in most social situations. Suite yourself, I'm merely a voice in your head. Bull, if you die, I die. Sighing, she stood and jumped up, using the stalk to help her climb. She got up to the top and balanced in the branches. she lowered her hood finally, and looked towards the Mansion, then noticing just how thick the fog was getting.

The strangley handsome man's aura began to eminate off of him like a becon in the night. The eerie silence over took much of the forest, and wildlife came to a halt, listening intently. Kenshin glided towards her, his long mane swaying from side to side at his knees. There he stopped, no less than 15 meters away, gazing up at the top of the bamboo limb.

She pulled her hood up quickly, noting the silence. Her eyes shot down to where he stood, curious, but wary. Hmmm.....probably master of this estate. It wouldn't appear that he's one of those that hunt you. I sense that as well, but one can never be too careful. Touche. Tilting her head, in the blink of the eye she was gone from the top of the tree, now on the ground. Actually she hovered millimeters above the soft grass, the blade of her whip swinging ever so slightly. She made sure her hood hid her face completely, still not totally adjusted to this form.

The figure's voice was calm, rather cold, yet mystifying. She took his comment as a rhetorical question in a way and decided not to answer for she could sense someone else nearby. The presence seem preoccupied with this newcomer and she decided that it was for the best, since she was rather trespassing and it was wise that if she travelled alone on this new path, weary of dangers to unfold. Tucking her flute away, she took a step forward on the new path. Finding no dangers, she continued her way, slowly trying to relax herself and enjoy this new scenary. Cross had guessed by now that this place must be tended by a wealthy or powerful being, to have all these marvelous place.

Kenshin narrowed his eyes a bit, calmly trying to adjust to the thick fog of the air. His right hand had secretly moved to his hip, cautiously grasping a sword to defend or attack if he needed to. But seeing this woman, he felt he had no need for aggression, his reaction was merely a precaution to this now hooded form. "Who goes there", his deep, but soft voice echoed confidently throughout the bamboo forest. He stood his ground. One could now notice, not only her, but this man also hovered slightly above the ground, but barely enough to pass. His gleaming eyes seemed to burn through her, not as if she were wearing that cloak, but as if she were fully naked, standing in his wake. It now became apparent that this mysterious man had authority somewhere in this land, maybe he was the owner of the land... The unannounced man stood there, silently awaiting her reply.

He was leaning against a tree, seemingly lost in thought. He blinked once and came to, surveying his misty surroundings. This time, he didn't speak as she drew closer; he only stared like a hawk, obviously intent on not letting her escape again.

Cross quirked a fine brow as she noticed how from the path she walked upon, trees sprung from the center of the road. Seeing yet again, the odd man nearby, she guessed that it must have something to do with him. Perhaps some unknown power he possessed to control the forest. Apparently, from the obstruction of the path and the appearance of this man, he wanted to know who she was or that he wanted her to be gone from here. Stopping a good two feet away from the man, Cross made eye contact with him for a moment before bowing her head slightly in courtesy. She waited for his next move or if he were to speak, all the while her muscles were slightly tense and ready to strike out if needed.

The tall man drew nigh; seconds later he'd floated gracefully to a stop, merely 3 feet away from the woman. "..............................................................................................." Kenshin stood quietly, surveying his opponent from bottom to top. His stunningly piercing eyes met gaze with her own. "What business do you have here?", his deep voice spoke out calmly. He seemed to be implying the invitations that had arrived mysteriously by flight to her.
