This thread is for the discussion of the cd Memento. This cd was a remix album that included a song written by Yu~Ki of Malice Mizer. The discussion here should be about only the music that appears on this album. This disucussion can range from musical discussion to discussions about the overall feel of the album. So long as the conversation focuses around the music from this album then it is on topic! Memento -dec-1-2004- -tracklist- -01- MEMENTO / Moment Thee Dance mix -02- MEMENTO / Moment Rare Beauty mix -03- HONEY VANITY / Retromantics Club mix

In all awareness that Memento is dedicated to the late Kami-sama, one really has to read between the lines to figure that out. The song itself is lovely, and it's a cute feature that Kozi used both english and japanese in their respective versions of the song.
As well, the Retromantics club mix of Honey Vanity is a great addition to the album, to get the tone on a more happier beat, in a way.

The lyrics to Memento are incredibly uplifting really. I know it is a song made out of mourning but the lyrics are more of a statement of being at peace with his (Kami's) passing rather than feeling hurt still. It is quite beautiful dispite the fact that it was written because of something so tragic.

Maybe it's just because of the tone from the Rare beauty mix, but I never considered the lyrics to be uplifting. To me it seems tragic, mournful- but yes, I do see the light of hope in there.
Actually, as I read through the lyrics again, it seems like a thought stream. In the beginning, it is the feeling of being lost in time and space, just simply wandering. And then, reaching acceptance of death, and being awed at the ending of suffering. And in the end it is very reminiscent and nostalgic... in a sad, yet hopeful kind of way.
(One thing I don't get- Tells moment rings?)

Well, it still is a song about mourning so even if hopeful it is only hopeful in a tragic sort of way. Draco Actually, as I read through the lyrics again, it seems like a thought stream. In the beginning, it is the feeling of being lost in time and space, just simply wandering. And then, reaching acceptance of death, and being awed at the ending of suffering. And in the end it is very reminiscent and nostalgic... in a sad, yet hopeful kind of way. It is that acceptance of death that communicates a sort of hope. It is like they are stating that they finally are at peace with mortality and the inevitable passing of loved ones. lyrics The eternal present revolves. The breathing of lie goes down in stillness, The sound of the bell ticking time, echos... -Tells moment rings- I took it to state that our memories are never ending...that even once someone is gone that the moments we had with them repeat (echo) in our minds.

Kozi's lyrics are so beautiful crying
I'm not sure which remix of MEMENTO I heard [it was from a Podcast], but it was the first Kozi song I ever heard. I LOVE the Retromantics Remix of Honey Vanity. It makes me dance.
