This thread is for the discussion of the cd Catharsis. This cd was Kozi's first full length album. The discussion here should be about only the music that appears on this album. This disucussion can range from musical discussion to discussions about the overall feel of the album. So long as the conversation focuses around the music from this album then it is on topic! Catharsis -mar-31-2004- -tracklist- -01- KINEMA (instrumental) -02- GROTTESCA -03- INCOHERENTS -04- NOCTURNE -05- DANS EREBOS -06- Katarushisu (instrumental) -07- Promenade -08- LIFE GOES ON ~ WITH MELANCHOLY -09- CRIMSON STAR -10- CRUEL ARCADIA -11- INNERMOST... -12- KHAOS (instrumental)

I cannot comment on the album as a whole, but the tracks on it. Promenade. I like Promenade a lot because it is relaxing music, even when it starts getting upbeat toward the middle. It still has that relaxing feel. And the lyrics are also beautiful (kudos to flowersofnight for the translation). It seems like there's a deeper meaning buried behind the beautiful story.
Crimson Star is another favourite of mine, though not to the extent of promenade. CS is just so upbeat in vocals and tempo, its sure to keep me smiling.

Would you mind posting the link to this "flowersofnight" website? If it has alot of song translations then I might add it to the link list in the Kozi links stickie.

Oh, I see. lol
I've thought about joining the SCAPE boards for awhile now. They seem to be quite helpful people and several people from there are also in the LJ kozi community I'm in.
Is there a specific thread on the board that houses translations? If so, I'll definatly go look.

Direct link to Kozi translations: http://scape.us/kozi_lyrics.htmlAlso has kanji and romanizations.

You would think that with as much as I've used SCAPE to make this guild that I would have realized that they have a lyric section. lol
I'll definately go and look at the translations so that I can chime in with your views on "Promenade" and "Crimson Star".

Aha. Oh dear. ^^; I guess I'm just so used to getting any Malice Mizer-related people's lyrics from Scape that I forgot other people might not know about the lyrics section. As well.. something I decided to do recently, perhaps Kozi has themes for his albums, that are also shown through his lyrics. We could investigate that in the respective album threads, too. ^^;

Draco-bu Aha. Oh dear. ^^; I guess I'm just so used to getting any Malice Mizer-related people's lyrics from Scape that I forgot other people might not know about the lyrics section. I can be oblivious sometimes. sweatdrop Draco-bu As well.. something I decided to do recently, perhaps Kozi has themes for his albums, that are also shown through his lyrics. We could investigate that in the respective album threads, too. ^^; Pumpkin, myself, and another person (I'm going to have to look for her name in the kozi guild and invite her here) were all once in the international kozi thread talking about this very subject but we were trying to find out if all of the Kozi's solo albums connect with each other to fork some sort of greater concept beyond that if the album's individual concepts. As far as Catharsis is concerned I think it would be great fun to go through all the lyrics (which I haven't done since I couldn't find some of them tranlsated...much love to SCAPE at the moment) to see if there is some sort of narative thread lurking.

I can't really say that there is any track on that album I hate. I love them all! They all vary from track to track and the composition is wonderful. This has to be my favorite out of all the Kozi solo work. 3nodding

I've only listened to Incoherents and Life goes on~with Melencholy, but I love both of those songs.
But then again, both of them kind of remind me of Illuminati which happens to be my favorite MM song next to Baroque.

Catharsis. The release of negative emotion; more specifically, the purgation of emotional or psychological tension.
I shall now investigate if the theme of this album can be tied to the concept of Catharsis itself.
