Hmm, I don't know about you guys but I love this song. It's so simple but it's such a powerful song. Anyone else like this song?

Will I lose my dignity?
Will someone care?
Will I wake tomorrow
From this nightmare?

I do!!!!! Nobody really thinks about what happens when someone with AIDS does get sick or die before doing something great.

A note on the movie version: I could never figure out why Mark was so damn loud during this song and then the second (or maybe third?) time I saw the movie I noticed that he's the only one singing his round.

In the stage show (at least according to the RENT bible, I can't remember if they did this when I saw it) they're just in kind of random groups...no distinction between characters/genders/range (soprano, alto, tenor, bass).

That was one thing the movie really got right: having people sing Will I? according to their characters situation. Mark sympathized with the message but not in the same way as the other guys (him being negative) so it wouldn't make sense to have him sing with them.

Either that, or they just needed somebody to sing a higher tenor. xd

(Anybody notice if Roger's got his own round in this? I can never tell because by the time he comes in it's such a mess, but I'm pretty sure he does.)

That makes sense but at the same time I think the lack of distinction is kind of a uniting force about the song. It's ust a group op people sympathizing/empathizing that they're dying from AIDS and it's so sad. They're all in the together, regardless of their situation.

And what is this Rent Bible you speak of?

yea Roger has his own round, watch his lips, they dont move in time with anyone else's.

and the RENT bible isn't actually called "the RENT bible" it's called RENT by Jonathan Larson.

I'll get the link for it off Amazon.

This is like the only song where Angel sings a male harmony part

O.o

I love this song ^^

I love whoever it is in the movie (I think it's either Sue or Pam, but I'm thinking Sue) that has a gorgeous voice. She kinda sings a different-ish part. I don't recall if that part is also in the OBC

YEAH, Mimi's got such a cool part in this song. I loved this scene in the movie but I think this song is better in the OBC recording.
