Yeah well, like the title syas- this is the 'official' Itachi discussion thread. Try not to veer off topic here, if you feel you must, do so in a thread of your own creation. To start things off..
Why do you think Itachi killed his family but left Sasuke alive.. The real reason?...

itachi killed his family for the because he felt like it and he left sasuke alive so he can see if sasuke can get as strong as he is

Well, Itachi does say he did it to see how strong he was. He didn't kill Sasuke because he wasn't worth killing, and he also wanted Sasuke to become strong and seek revenge on him. Yeah; that's what I think.

no u to are wrong its because he was bored of it being so strong but could never really prove it and it would be in the world of naruto records because nobody ever has killed there inter clan before

Itachi did kill his Family to get test his strength but i think he didnt kill Sasuke so he wouldn't feel guilty for the slaughter of his whole clan

Itachi did kill his clan to test his power i agree with that and i think itachi hated sasuke and could not kill him until he got stronger but he can never be stronger than itachi....

Itachi killed everyone in his clan but left Sasuke, so Sasuke could be the avenger that Itachi choose to take his life.

actually, sicko, if he would have killed sauske, the uchia the fox demon talked about, that had more evil inside than himself, would still be left.

All of you are wrong.
This is the real story. Itachi and Sasuke's parents hated Sasuke, so they were meaning to kill him, because they knew he was weak and couldn't comeup to the Uchiha name.
Itachi knew about this and wiped out the clan before they could kill Sasuke. The reason Itachi left Sasuke alive.
