Welcome to my Locker! This is the Day to day log of what I do OUTside the workfield. (Or loosely Roleplay not in the VoE thread.)

Here's my ideas for a specimen:
I really want the first. ^^ But its all for deciding.

Name: Aquilastre ( OC: Tekilite Penwright )
Specimen: Sakura (Or Maple. xD )
Plant: Prunus avium, Wild Cherry (tree)
Sex: Female
Alignment: Fire or Heaven, but will settle for any other alignment.
Info on the Wild Cherry tree.
Uses of wood - Turnery, furniture, veneers, decorative paneling. Good firewood with fragrance of blossom as burns. Food and drink - The near black fruit are sweet and edible. Birds quickly strip fruit from trees.

Pictures: Tree || Flower
A Legend - This is the idea of the specimen. Looks and perhaps part personality.

Name: Aquilastre ( OC: Tekilite Penwright )
Specimen: Maple (... Hahahah... I'm serious. D: .)
Plant: Acer saccharin, Sugar Maple (tree)
Sex: Female
Alignment: Earth
Info on the Sugar Maple tree.

It was the first day of work and it was a long day. She was a little tired, since she never worked a full day in her 19 year life.

Scarlet covered plumage littered the floors of her miniscule roomed appartment. She had strayed away too long! But he should be fine she thought to herself.

"Baaaby!" she trilled, as she shut the apartment door, dropping her things.
"Baaaaby!" A forlorn screech echoed. Tekilite giggled at the gargled word, and even more so when her giggling came back. It was a sorry sight she came to when she found poor, dear Loki in her bedroom. He was nestled in a makeshift, scratched up nest.

He was bare from the neck down, except for a few tail and wing feathers in which he couldn't reach or, hadn't gotten to them. It was time to do something, and FAST! His tender skin was reddened in some areas, where he kept on plucking, plucking feathers which weren't there. It was amazing that he didn't rip himself open! Quickly she dolled him up and set off to the vetenarians offices.

The small problem... suddenly became a big problem.

Later on...

She sat up for what seemed like all night, crying alone. Loki was left with the vetinarians. His sickness was worse than it really seemed and he was brought to lock up to be studied. His problem was very extreme and never seen before.

Tekilite walked listlessly from the bedroom to the kitchen and to the other parts of her small appartment in the city. It didn't matter how long the commute was. It didn't even bother her that it was nearly two in the morning. All she could do was think about Loki.

Normally, one could think that the depression could hit someone if their loved one died. No one died for her. Someone might, but that someone was a bird. It was a pet! One that can be easily replaced. Tekilite had already gone through two deaths in her family, and she came out perfectly fine. Even so, Loki was her own.

As she paced in her slow swaying march, the silence around her pressed ominously. It continued through to the morning, and she didn't bother to go to work that day, for in the hourse of endless stumbling, and soft moaning she stood. The only thing that broke her of her reverie, was a small phone call. It gave her no consolations as of yet.

The information was still inconclusive. Inconclusive.

Inconclusive.

Tekilite not long after had other things on her mind. After the plucking of Loki she had recieved a letter. It was a strange letter too...
~~~
"Yes, thank you sir. Oh do you need some bandages for that?" Tekilite asked while staring at the mail man's leg who had delivered the parcel.
"Uh. No, ma'm. It's quite alright," he said, rather alarmed from the quiet yet very kind young woman. He left as quickly as his limp would allow. Tekilite would have invited him in if it weren't for bleeding of the dog bite.
When he had gone out of sight she closed the door to her appartment, and abesently set her self down into a chair by the speckled kitchen table. She "Hum'ed" at her self wondering. There was no return address, and by sheer dumb luck the postman who knew her had gotten this letter. There wasn't exactly an address to send. Just her name.
Anyone could have picked it up! But then, she surmised that not many people had Tekilite Alanna Penwright as their names... The old-script pen-write was nearly familiar as she ripped the top half open. It was!
It was from her twin, Bryan. She hungrily read the letter and then suddenly wish she hadn't. He was in danger. Trouble. He needed her, much like she needed him at that moment.
She took a suitcase with some of her clothes by the end of the day to a taxi waiting at the base of her appartment building, and she was gone. Gone for a few weeks.
Oh, you simple joys of working again. She didn't think it was going to have been a bad week. No one could have predicted it for her. Yet, now that everything was over she was back to work. She felt immensely terrible, and incredably overjoyed that they had accepted her back into her former position once she had gotten back; she hadn't left a message with the chief before leaving. Yet, then again it was her choice... or wasn't it?
Since leaving there were some promotions. Apparently Petra was promoted. She was promoted to a high level. She felt happy that she did, when learning of it in passing. She saw it somewhere. Perhaps a shiny plate or something. It was always nice to see friends get ahead in such things. Her tinge of warm happiness spread through her as she worked for the week. Though naturally a hidden spurr of green envy trumpled off its way.
Tekilite reasoned logically she probably would have gotten the promotion had she not left. It was her fault if she were to let that train run. But nothing of the sort was going to happen in that line of thinking. She was perfectly content at her position, since getting acclimated with the wonders of sweeping, scrubbing and polishing.
Still. Everything was song and dance.
After having the bout with the sickness, things seemed to really turn around for the better. The cough lessened and she felt less "bogey". Her attitude changed when she had gotten a call from the vet's office.
The tests results have been confirmed. Loki! She ran right over, as it was only a convenient half mile from her apartment building. Before she strode through the automatically opening doors, Tekilite calmed herself and took a few deep breaths. Loki'll be fine, Loki'll be fine, Loki'll be fine! She thought fervently.
The receptionist nurse gave her a heartfelt good morning, and placed the form in her hands to fill out before going to see her loved one. It was quick and painless, she handed it back to her and the nurse smiled. She said to go in now. Tekilite was teeming with energy, pent up excited longing.
Dr. Cowl, the head supervisor for the intermediate facility, looked gravely to her, when Tekilite entered.
"Miss Penwright, I have grave news. Loki has a combination of problems." He started with a serious face. The color drained from her face, as her hand trusted out behind her trying to guide the rest of her body into a chair. He continued.
"As I just said he has a combination of problems. They were so interwoven, we really had no idea untill we unraveled it. The first problem is easily over come. Stress problem. Just keep him sedated, and work with a behaviorist. Had he not have the second problem, Loki probably wouldn't be plucking himself."
"What's the second problem. It's not that bad, the stress we can fix. I can fix the next one." Tekilite piped up, a little louder than she intended.
The doctor smiled a sad smile, "Its not that easy. He has a terminal illness. It happens to wild tropical birds. It's not your fault. All we can do is just feed him medication to ease the pain."
"He's in pain...?" She asked fearfully.
"Not yet, but he will be. It's in the first stages, - but its not something that we can operate on to cut away or anything like that." He added sharply as Tekilite's eyes starting to shine with hope. Numbly she then looked downward.
"How long? How long does he have left?"
"We don't know. Sometimes this hits fast and hard, sometimes it doesn't. Just keep him comfortable and keep him happy. Go about your normal days. It isn't like he's bed ridden. Loki seems like a strong bird." Dr. Cowl waved a bandaged hand with a smile. It dawned on Tekilite how he had his hand so wrapped. She couldn't help but give a crooked smile.
"Well, I'll be taking him home then with the medicine. Thank you doctor."
Loki was finally home. Even though Tekilite had no idea how long that would be...
